    Hi everyone,
After reading a lot of the posts on here I decided to try and reclaim my loan insurance from the Halifax. I thought it would be worth a try but didn't hold out too much hope that it would be easy!! I used the template letter off this site and posted it to my local branch on the 15th July.I was told at the time of the loan agreement that I must have the protection otherwise they could not give me the credit - when I recieved the agreement the loan insurance was already displayed in it with all the calculations. On Friday Aug 8th I received a letter to say they were going to credit me with a total of £2221 for all if the payments plus interest!! I couldn't believe how easy it was and how quick. I am absolutely over the moon and would like to thank Martin Lewis/MSE. He is a god. :T
thats great news, do you still have a loan outstanding? and are they crediting you direct (via cheque) or direct to the loan?

I have never met or spoken to anyone who had been forced to say yes when they thinking no, or forced to sign any document when they didn’t agree to. I have spoken to people who have signed something without reading or said yes without listening but each of these people admit its stupid and they have learned by their mistakes to their detriment.
Here's the thing - you've missed out one of the most popular misselling techniques, which is to lead the customer to believe that if they don't take out the insurance then they won't get the loan. There are many ways of doing this, from outright lies to carefully chosen statements that, in context, give the the impression without directly saying so.

Hi i currently have a claim in with fos against welcome finance who are not playing ball.
i got a loan wich they said i couldnt get without taking the ppi, complaint been with the fos ajudicator for 8 months and the ajudicator upheld my claim but welcome still refuse to pay, so now been waiting for 2 months for an ombudsman to look at it whos decision should be final on both sides, i phoned FOS yesterday for an update the said probably be another 6 months before an ombudsman looks at it due to backlog and even if he upholds my claim, if welcome still refuse i will need take them to court. So i could be waiting a long time yet to see if successful or not.
  • So, here we go. My first claim, not sure what to expect - a fight maybe?
Tesco against the little people, thank goodness for sites like this.
My letter went off recorded yesterday...... I think if this goes my way I will have a go at LTSB:rotfl:
Starting to get the hang of this letter writing stuff !
  • Hi everyone,

Just a quick message to tell you I have had success!!!! YAY!!!
I wrote to the Halifax re mis sold PPI with a Loan back in 2004. I sent the first template letter early January 2008, which they declined. Then the 2nd template letter early March 2008 which they very promptly declined, so I sent another letter, which they again declined.

So early June I completed the FOS form for reclaiming PPI. They acknowledged instantly then sent a letter advising they were looking into it. Last night I received a letter from the FOS advising that the Halifax have agreed to make an offer in full and final payment of the premiums paid plus interest plus 12% credit interest!!!!

I have just under 2 1/2K on its way to me!!!

Thank you Money Saving Expert & Thank you FOS!!

    Don't give up!!

Hi. I'd just like to say good luck with your claim against Welcome Finance. I'm also in the process of reclaiming from them and my case has been with FOS for 6 months now but is still waiting to be passed to an adjudicator. Im sure my outcome will be the same.
I think its wrong that Welcome can get away with refusing to pay out when they're clearly at fault and I hope that your successfull when it finally is passed to the obudsman
