  • I wrote a while back saying that the Financial ombudsman had decided that my ppi insurance from the bank of scotland was to be paid back to me. After much waiting I got a letter today from the bank. After paying off the insurance they were due me with interest (£1050!!!) there was only going to be £214 left on my loan so as a gesture of goodwill they have paid it off for me and I am now done with my loan. If I hadnt complained I would have still been paying £162 a month until March next year!!. I am one happy lady today. Thank you Martin!!!:j

I am delighted to be able to tell everyone that after 2 quite simple template letters I was refunded over £3000 PPI that I had paid on a M&S Loan.
Unfortunately reclaiming from Beneficial bank has not been so easy.
I used the template letters and they refused to consider my case of mis-selling PPI on a credit card that I opened in 1992 when I was relatively young and not very clued up financially. I then went to FOS who have been very helpful but have decided not to persue my case as there is no objective evidence of how the PPI was sold. I plan to write back to them to ask if they would reconsider on the basis that if it had been explained to me what it was and that it was optional(and I know that it wasn't as I applied on a flier which came with a club membership and there was no discussion) there is no way that I would have purchased it.I'll see how that goes but I would be grateful for any other advice.

    Thanks
  • Thanks to this site I have now reclaimed another £2.5k.

Claim made against the Haifax on the grounds that I was encouraged to take the insurance, the telephone salesman was not qualified to provide financial advice and that I had Personnel Health Insurance through work. So i didn't need half the policy cover in the 1st place

After several letters saying they would look into my claim i went to the FOS. They dealt with the clim within 5/6 weeks

RBS have now said that they accept no liability but as a goodwill gesture they will pay me ALL premiums plus 8% per annum interest.

I hope to get the money v soon

PS total claimed using this site - £6.5k in 6 months

Wrote on here earlier this year regarding PPI with Halifax.
Basically had pre existing illness so wasnt covered by PPI however Halifax Customer Services believed that it was a 'just and fair' policy for me despite not being covered by the PPI.
Moved complaint to FOS who found in my favour and now Halifax(bank of scotland) wont admit liabillty but as a good will gesture are refunding all premiums paid plus 8% interest.
    Result.

    Thanks Martin.
  • Hi All

Halifax agreed to refund the PPI on a personal loan taken out in 2002 - all in all, just over £5k is being refunded!
    So pleased!
We used the first template from this website, and got a holding letter followed by a further letter confirming they would refund the PPI with intrest.
A couple of weeks later,we've received a letter advising the breakdown and total of £5,052!!
    After only one letter!!!!
Just want to say to everyone keep on writing to the banks - it seems they know they're in the wrong re: this PPI mis-selling business!

    Laura:beer:
  • Just wanted to say wrote 1 letter to HSBC asking for my ppi to be refunded on my loan, went into the bank after receiving a letter from them to say that i would have to re-calculate my loan, HSBC no longer sell ppi on the basis that i was originally sold it, so did that, then received a letter offering me a full refund of £1229.29!!!!! Couldnt get to the post office quick enough to send back my settlement form, had money in my bank within 3 days yahoo!! Now sent letters to GE Bank (DP Card), they are not so easy at the moment, also M&S for a loan from a few years back, and all credit cards that i had Capitol One, Lloyds TSB, and LX Direct.:p Thank you Martin!!!!

    Hi everyone

I made a claim against HSBC 6 weeks ago for two loans, one in 2003 and the other from 1998 - this one was not paid of until 2003 (although I think they will not consider the 1998 one but worth a try).
My husband also made a claim for one loan . We have both had letters stating that it would be dealt with within 4 weeks then another letter apologising for the delay but they hoped to get back to us within the next 4 weeks.
Yesterday my husband got an offer letter for £3,717. We were really shocked as we thought that if they entertained the claim it would only be worth £1,000. So the acceptance letter has been posted.

We are now waiting to see if I get offered anything on mine. Thanks Martin Lewis, all it took was the cost of a stamp.

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick message to tell you I have had success!!!! YAY!!!
I wrote to the Halifax re mis sold PPI with a Loan back in 2004. I sent the first template letter early January 2008, which they declined. Then the 2nd template letter early March 2008 which they very promptly declined, so I sent another letter, which they again declined.

So early June I completed the FOS form for reclaiming PPI. They acknowledged instantly then sent a letter advising they were looking into it. Last night I received a letter from the FOS advising that the Halifax have agreed to make an offer in full and final payment of the premiums paid plus interest plus 12% credit interest!!!!

I have just under 2 1/2K on its way to me!!!

Thank you Money Saving Expert & Thank you FOS!!

    Don't give up!!

    LC

Wow wee, that was a quick one then for the FOS. Great news for you:beer:
