When I claimed PPI on behalf of a family member, I noticed once statement was sent, that the amount he had borrowed, also allegedly paid off an existing loan. What actually appeared to happen was that the bank loaned an amount (which was credited to the bank account), then PPI, then brought over the balance from the previous account. To my mind (please correct me if I am wrong someone) - then the original loan that had PPI on, was also still being paid. Therefore 2 PPI amounts being paid at same time. I am therefore in process of reclaiming for the1st loan PPI - and the fact that the interest due will be up until his 2nd loan was paid off.

Thanks to Martins website - have successfully claimed from LTSB - £1681 plus interest - resulted in £2832. This more or less cleared loan - and left £132 only to pay.

Hi well done with your claim. You are right cause premiums not rebated from 1st Loan would have been added onto 2nd Loan so 2nd Loan would have had premiums paid from 1st Loan but not still effective plus PPI on 2nd.

Claim the lot they should put you back to the position you would have been in if no PPI had been put on Loans. That is what the FOS ask the Lenders to do plus interest plus 8% simple.

    Good Luck:D

  • I was claiming from the Halifax
I initially wrote to halifax stating i was mis sold ppi they said i wasnt, i appealed and still not having it so i wrote to financial Ombudsman and hey ho when they were asked for the file on the subject they just said we will pay up all plus interest plus 8%. Total im not sure of but about £1000+
    Its worth keeping going on.
  • £500.00 back from Barclays Bank for Missold PPI just took 2 letters and some very strong phone calls. RESULT.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.

    Martin Lewis for King!

We sent the template letter off to Egg to reclaim PPI on a loan we took out with them 3 yrs ago. (We had been told at the time of application that the agreement depended upon us taking the policy). Six weeks after sending the letter, we received a cheque in the post for just over £4000! They even claim in their response that they had failed to trace our original phone call for the loan application, but have decided to resolve our complaint anyway.
Just looking through the forum, a lot of people seem to be getting fobbed off by Egg. Surprisingly, our claim was very straight forward. If anyone is wondering whether to bother reclaiming - do it! Still can't belive how easy this process was. Thank you MSE for persuading me to write the letter - one first class stamp and I'm £4000 better off!

Well done adj! Can I ask for what reasons you claimed please?
  • Just wanted to say a big thank you to this website as I have successfully reclaimed £900 in PPI charges. I used the template on this website and sent the letter to Alliance & Leicester. After about 2 weeks they responded and offered to refund the PPI payments covering the last 24 months.:T The process was quick and simple and all for the price of a 1st class stamp. Once again, thanks :money: you da man !!!!
