I would like to ask a question about the morality of the PPI claims.
Did you take PPI without being asked? (Did you really not get given a chance to ask what it was or if you understood or not get two seconds to say no thank you?)
Did you sign a document with PPI on it? (Did you read the document that you signed to take the PPI?)
I have had PPI on credit I have had in the past and been fortunate enough to never use it but I saw it as a service which someone had offered me (which definitely wasn’t free) but if I had needed it would have been a life saver as without my income I would be able to afford to live let alone pay a credit off. I
I have never met or spoken to anyone who had been forced to say yes when they thinking no, or forced to sign any document when they didn’t agree to. I have spoken to people who have signed something without reading or said yes without listening but each of these people admit its stupid and they have learned by their mistakes to their detriment.
I am very simple on the morality front that I will ask if I don’t understand something, if I don’t agree I will say so and if I sign something I read it and I will honour it as best I can.
I am sure there are cases where people on this thread can say that were mis-sold but others where I would ask the questions above on morality.0 -

If i had been told the full conditions of my policy then there is no way on earth that i would of accepted this and that is not to say i would not have protected my loan but just not for a policy like these. Most claimants are not given a choice of going elsewhere for this type of protection.
The FSA and the FOS are both sympathetic to these sales and are upholding most complaints about these. They have to listen to the sale of the PPI from recorded tapes before making decisions so its not a case of being biased to the claimant. :rolleyes:0 -

For my part I signed the loan agreement at the bank which already had the insurance details filled in. I considered the insurance a good precaution both for me and the bank; it never entered my head that previous medical history, or any type of exclusions would be considered in the event of a claim.
Moreover the bank representative never pointed out any of these conditions or even enquired as to possible health issues that may have affected the insurance.
It is interesting to note that the Halifax rarely, if ever, responded to any written communication I sent them and this was graphically highlighted during the months preceding my bankruptcy when not one single letter I sent received a reply.
I have had two loans from the Halifax and the only documentation I had ever received was my copy of the agreement which I was given at the time of signing, so it came as no surprise to me that I could not locate the insurance documentation they maintained was sent to me.
One final point, after my bankruptcy was formalised by the court the official receiver requested the shares that the Halifax held for me. After several letters I finally received a communication from some unknown company whom the bank says held my shares. It said they had tried to find my shares but could not, but would continue searching for a fee of £97 per hour.
At this point I wrote directly to the chairman of the bank insisting they find my shares immediately, yes you’ve guessed it, no reply what so ever. My shares are still missing.0 -
Hi everyone,
After reading a lot of the posts on here I decided to try and reclaim my loan insurance from the Halifax. I thought it would be worth a try but didn't hold out too much hope that it would be easy!! I used the template letter off this site and posted it to my local branch on the 15th July.I was told at the time of the loan agreement that I must have the protection otherwise they could not give me the credit - when I recieved the agreement the loan insurance was already displayed in it with all the calculations. On Friday Aug 8th I received a letter to say they were going to credit me with a total of £2221 for all if the payments plus interest!! I couldn't believe how easy it was and how quick. I am absolutely over the moon and would like to thank Martin Lewis/MSE. He is a god. :T0 -

For anybody out there who thinks you may lose and cant be bothered!
After watching moneysaving expert on the TV and going on line i used Martins free templates to attempt to claim back 2 sets of PPI.
Both through the AA and Bank of Scotland
Initial response from the banks were rejections as predicted in Martin guide.
Further persistance and requesting FSO to assist in my claim i recieved word back that the FSO would take on the claim but requested my patience as they had a back log of claims.
they kept intouch on a weekly basis,
eventually they investigated the claim and within days the Bank Of Scotland sent word that they denied the wrongdoing of miss selling however they would pay out on both policys.
I have received just under £2.5k whoo! hoo!
i feel like a lotto winner without buying a ticket,
MSE did exactly what it said on the tin! a refund plus interest plus compensation at 8%
thanks Martin, my family and i are off on a family holiday abroad,
you are our Hero!!
