having read this web site, i wrote off to the halifax to reclaim the PPI on:
    1. an unsecured loan
    2. a secured loan
    3. a credit card.
all of which i had paid off after selling my house.

at first the halifax said no and that i agreed to the PPI
i then went to the ombudsman who took up my case.

after a few months i received a letter for each claim from the ombudsman saying the halifax had agreed to a refund as a good will gesture. this letter didnt say how much but as it seemed to go on and on i agreed to this good will gesture.

i received £2500 for the unsecure loan last week and this morning i received £3700 for my credit card. i am still waiting for the repayment of PPI for the secured loan but expect to receive it any day now.

my advise, send the letters and keep going all the way. the worst thing that can happen is the ombudsman could say no. you will not loose anything but could gain a lot. thanks martin

Did you submit seperate letters for each of the claims?
I successfully claimed £4k for an unsecured loan & I have 2 others in the pipeline with HBOS.
I also have 3 secured loans, 1 of which looks like a single premium policy & the others were a monthly variable payment. I am not sure whether to send a letter of claim covering all 3 secured loans.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated......

I would say to include all three in one letter but make sure none of them are statute barred (ie over 6 years old since the policies were sold). I have done this to the co-op. Good luck.
  • Hi There, i got the letter back from FO to say that they agree we were mis-sold the ppi (as previously posted) and we were to sign a document send back to the FO who would then contact HSBC and get them to give us our money - has anyone else had this and if so how long did it take to get the money?!
We are moving house soon and it would come in handy for then as well as paying off my credit card meaning less money going out!!!
    Thanks

    Hi there,

Yes, this is how I got my money too- said could take up to 6 weeks from the acknowledgment of the acceptance form but mine took around three weeks but that was with Halifax/BOS though.

I Have Just Sent Letters To Both These Companys Regarding Ppi On Secured Loans, One For Partial Refund And The Other Miss Selling Over Only Covering 5 Years Of The Loan. Does Any One Know If There Has Been Any Succeses With These Companys? Sorry If This Is The Wrong Thread To Ask Very New To This!

  • hello everyone...

i am new to this but i wanted to thank Martin and other site users for encouraging:j myself and my partner to reclaim ppi. the loan from the halifax has been refunded for ppi at £6600 and we are just waiting for the final amount from the halifax credit card but it looks to be in the region of £8000..

it was really easy to do and the refund was processed quickly.... i urge every one who has been mis sold to try..... it really is worth it

Congratulations, can i ask anyone out there DI(lol) even i did write to halifax about the credit card and being charged PPI as i never realised i was paying for this, so i quickly cancelled it and wrote to halifax, but they refused my claim, anyhow i failed to put this in the other claims i have with the FOS (Loans & mortgage) ive gone past the 6 month mark of bringing it to their attention. DO you think the FOS will pick this up through their investigations?
