Just looking through a few of these successes and failures but not got time to look through 50 odd pages, well done to those have been succesful. I have just started off my claim against the RBOS, waited 3 weeks and they allegedly lost the letter I sent in so I hand delivered one yesterday to get all my previous loan documentation. My mum is also doing this with RBOS. Looking through some of the pages in this thread there doesnt seem to be many claims against the RBOS but I havent looked at all the pages, has anyone had any success against the RBOS? how long did it take? Did you need to go via the Financial ombudsman?

Mrs Ednoni had a letter from HSBC on Tuesday upholding her complaint.

She has been offered just over £8000, she is a very happy person!!!

Next stop is in the courts with Black Horse, allocatin forms have been completetd so lets see.
  • Back in June 2003, I took out an unsecured loan with the Halifax.

Unfortunatley a couple of years back I started to fall behind with the payments due to my divorce which obviously changed my circumstances. As we all know Halifax are a lovely bunch of people and they transferred my account to Connaught Collections

I have just looked at my agreement and a print out from Halifax and it states "Insurance Required - Yes (Unsecured)" this is basically saying they would only give me the loan if I took out their insurance. On the agreement it reads:

    "Cash Loan - £5,500
Total Charge for Credit for cash loan - £1655.18
Total amount you pay - £7155.18
    Insurance loan - £1209.73
Total charge for credit for insurance loan - £364.01
Total amount you pay for insurance loan - £1573.74

    The Loan - £6709.73
Total Charge for Credit - £2019.19

total amount you pay - £8728.92"

Can I claim this PPI back? If so how do I go about it do I approach halifax or Connaught Collections?

    Hi

I've just received a letter form GE Money to say they will refund all my premiums to date plus 8% interest. A total of £154.78 altogether, this nearly wipes out the balance on my Debenhams card so I'm really please. Not bad for the price of a stamp! I'd like to thank all of you for taking the time to respond to posts and offer your advice. Now I just need to see if the NatWest are as forth coming as my claim with them is over 3k.
  • I didnt really hvae much faith in this PPI reclaiming to be honest. Anyway, I downloaded the letter templates, filled in the blanks, sent them off to Yorkshire Bank and after about 10 weeks I got a refund of around £1100. So ...send those letters, it's well worth it!

Now i'm going to have a go at Welcome Finance.

    ...thank you moneysavingexpert.com!
  • My partner took out a HSBC loan in September last year, and was pushed into having the PPI and told that he should have it really. I sent an e-mail on his behalf to HSBC on the 21st June outlining the reasons that we believed it was mis-sold. We received several holding letters, and today received a letter upholding the complaint, and offering an amount of £1176.07! We are delighted, as to be honest, i thought we'd have to go back and forth for months, and was fully prepared to go down the ombudsman route, but now for the sake of an e-mail, he's got loads back!

    Hi there

Yes if you believe you were mis sold you go for it.
A template for this is on this site, delete what does not occur to you, and if you need to add anything extra then add this on the letter, but to be told you would only have the loan if you take the ppi I would defo try to reclaim on this.
Check out the terms and conditions if you still have these, if not request for a copy at your bank.;)

If you want further help, give us a yell.;)

I wrote a letter to GE money stating that I wish to have a refund of my Account cover insurance. I thought it was compulsory at the time, I was 18 and to be honest just signed what the sales assistant told me to sign. on the copy of the credit agreement you can see crosses that the sales assistant has made where I have to sign, so i just signed it. I was paying it for over a year when my mum noticed it and said i was paying for something i didnt need so I rang Dorothy Perkins and asked if it was compulsory they said no and i cancelled it straight away. the letter i received back said i couldnt have a refund and i couldnt contact the financial ombudsman as they have no jurisdiction on the matter, they say i should contact the Finance and Leasing Association. It was in 2003 when it was taken out if that makes any difference.
Has anyone else been in this situation? I dont know who to contact next?
    thanks

Claim against: HBOS - 2 loans

Initially got the "go away" letters so went to the FOS. On Friday 27th June I received a letter from the FOS stating that whilst HBOS were not accepting liability but would refund the cash as a gesture of good will - RESULT!

Will post again once I hear from HBOS.

Got 2 cheques in the post, one for £500 odd and one for £3,000. Then 4 days later I got some calculations through the post telling me to expect 2 more cheques, 1 for £1,500 odd and one for £250 odd. So £5k reclaimed for just sending a few letters. Thanks to Martin and all at MSE and also to anyone who has helped with advice (Tiggrae et al).

Just waiting on a Halifax card and a Lloyds one.
    Debt in June-03 - £24,000
    Debt in June-06 - £8,500 (all on 0% cards)
    Debt in Jan-08 - £4,000 (all on 0% card)
    Savings greater than debt!
    Officially debt free!!! :j
