What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: FirstPLUS
How much did you get back: £7408.50
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: YES
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I have been pursuing this since 11/11/2007. As always FirstPLUS FOBed off my initial letters. Sent complaint to FOS but FOS lost it. I resent it a month ago. When FOS requested my files from FirstPLUS, they sent a letter offering full refund and apologising for misselling of PPI. I was so desperate i took it without 8% interest. Just could not keep on waiting.
MSE has been a great HELP. Hope my story helps someone else. As a matter of fact i read this site EVERY morning when i get to work. Thanks a million and lets keep fighting for everyone on this site.0 -
I want to make a PPI claim for a loan I took out with HSBC, I have been reading the threads and have seen some of the positive posts, I was after a letter that someone has done and has had a successful response please.
When I took out the loan the assistant did not tell me I could get the same loan protection elsewhere.
Assistant said loan would go through more so if I took out PPI and would be more expensive if i did not take out PPI
I took out loan in 2003 for £10000, PPI was a total sum of 1500 ish for three years.
Please advise,
I look forward to some positive feed back.

- What were you reclaiming: loan PPI
- Who was the provider: Sainsburys Bank (Halifax Bank of Scotland)
- How much did you get back: £1499
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I wrote two letters to Sainsburys bank and then one letter to Financial Ombudsman.
- And then write your brief reclaim tale
After getting no response to my second letter I sent a letter to the Financial Ombudsman in November. Although they were too busy to look at the claim until May they kept me updated every month with a letter.
In July I got a letter from them saying HBOS were not accepting they had done anything wrong, but as a gesture of goodwill would refund all PPI paid and 8% interest - a total of £1499.
PPI would also be taken off futre loan payments, reducing the monthly payment by £45 !
I received a letter from Sainsburys bank today - the same day the money was deposited into our bank account!

Thank you so much Martin for all the advice and guidance. I wrote to HSBC about the PPI I had been sold on my loan and after a couple of months of them looking into it I have received a letter stating that they are refunding all my payments for the PPI including interest-£3616!! :rotfl:
I am having a little more trouble with Halifax as they have initially said they are not upholding my complaint but I have sent a second letter off to them and am just awaiting a reply now! Unfortunately although they have said I could now cancel my payment protection as I have already paid the majority of the premium for the insurance this usnt worth it so I'm hoping for a positive outcome from the second letter!
I would highly recommend anyone thinking of claiming to do so. The template letters from Martin are easy to adapt and definately worth sending-even if you dont get the response you're looking for you'll be no worse off and you might end up a lot better off!!0 -
nicolajane1 wrote: »Hi, After my complaint to the co-op bank re mis-sold PPI was declined i went down the FOS route and it took approx 6 weeks for the FOS to decide the co-op were at fault, not only do they have to repay my existing loan but also my previous loans plus interest, which i had not even complained about! They have to set up a new loan minus PPI and deduct all previous PPI payments from the previous loans and existing loans, This was 3 weeks ago and still waiting for the bank to get in touch, they only have 4 weeks from FOS final letter so we will wait and see what happens, but i seem to be very lucky with having to only wait 6 weeks for FOS decision. But for everyone out there wondering if it is worth it trust me it is, will let you all know my final figure when the bank eventually get in touch!0

I sent in 3 claims against HSBC - Two Business accounts relating to a loan & overdraft & one personal account on a loan. I started in January 2008 & the first response was refusal. I responded to their reasons & they made an offer of around £600 relating to the personal loan. As it was mainly the business accounts I felt strongly about, I contacted the ombudsman. I have just received a payout of just under £6000.:j0

What were you reclaiming: PPI on a £7,000 loan taken in February 2001
Who was the provider: HBOS
How much did you get back: £1,899.83
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 4 letters to HBOS then complained to FOS
I was mis-sold PPI when I was desperate for a £7K loan to clear escalating credit card debts. Went into the branch to sign loan forms only to find the sales rep had crossed out the box allowing me to opt out of taking PPI and she dated just below where I had to sign. I was told that PPI was needed to get the loan. For a long time I believed the PPI was part of the interest or some kind of fee for borrowing.
I wrote the first of my four letters to HBOS at the end of last year. On four occasions my reclaim was turned down, so I took this to the FOS in March 2008. By last month I received a letter from the FOS who said HBOS were refunding all PPI payments + 8% interest as a gesture of goodwill :rotfl: .
I have just received a cheque through the post which will be enormously helpful to me. Thanks are due to Martin Lewis and M Colak for their valuable work. I witnessed a number of other people successfully reclaim, but thought I wasn't going achieve this outcome. I desperately wanted to post these icons for ages,so here goes:T  :j :T  :j
