Good News I think...I originally posted the above in June as HSBC had finalised their decision and told me no to my claim. This morning I have had a telephone call from an Adjudicator at the FOS asking for some more information and she told me at the end of the call she was upholding my claim..I think this means that HSBC now will have 21 days to go with the adjudicators decision and repay the money or say no and go to the ombudsman which if they lose will be legally binding. I feel confident that if an adjudicator at the FOS says yes to my claim then that the Ombudsman may uphold the claim too. Either way I am more ahead now than when HSBC categorically said no to me....On one other point the adjudicator was impressed with how I had presented my claim which is all down to the guys on the forum and the advice given...Thankyou very much especially di3004 and Amersall

    Hi all you brilliant persons,

I have had several sucesses with reclaiming PPI and Credit Card Charges, my latest is with Halifax One c/c for PPI.
I sent my first letter on 23 July 2010 just a letter no form and no schedule of payments, although I do have 95% of my statements and I have got a letter back today dated 29 July 2010 advising they will be refunding all my PPI and has been referred to the redress team who will complete the relevant calculation within the next 14 days with a comment of 'in view of the fact that you are a valued customer'.
On a previous post amersall you state they should refund the interest back direct to me not off my balance, is this something I can request from the customer relations person who sent me the letter, I have not had to option before and all previous reclaims have just credited my account. Also as I am aware of 95% of the PPI payments I have made since 5/2005 can I use martins calculator to work out the interest, and do they always offer compensation for the miss-sell?

Hope you can help you are a godsend to the honest hardworking people in this country(along with martin of course)

Thank you so much :o glad to have been of help, the interest you could ask for it to be paid back to you, you could also request (if you are not in arrears) that you would like the refund paid back to you, as if you had not got ppi in the first place then that was money that you would have had, and you would not have reduced your balance by paying extra as that is what the ppi in effect did. Not too sure how to work the interest out but i am sure someone who does will help you with this. They only offer compensation if you go through fos and you suffered hardship and stress as a result of the length of time your claim has taken.Did you get awarded the 8%? all i know is you will get the monthly ppi payment you have made to date back with the interest charged on these payments. Hope this helps x

    Thank you for your reply,

In the letter I got it does not mention anything about 8% interest just that it has been referred to their redress team who will complete the relevant calculation.

Do you know if the 8% is just added to the total or if 8% is added per year?? Anyone?

    Many Thanks :j

It may tell you in your figures if the 8% as been added, the 8% is added from the start of the card date when you made your first ppi payment, this is calculated monthly and decreases each month, it decreases each month because you have been deprived of this money for less time.
look here and you can work it out

Btw, some dont give the 8% if they have settled without fos, you are only guaranteed this if it goes to fos

    Mmmm:mad:

Just spoke to a person in customer relations Halifax and he advised that all premiums paid & interest will be credited to my c/card and that I wont get anything back my self, thought I would get a little back.

Previous posts indicate that interest charged monthly on premium then they add 8% interest.:(

Maybe I will wait till redress team send me settlement figures and then ask them.

    Hi there

I assumed the interest part of it would be refunded to you, due to the fact that you were deprived of your money in the first place, what on earth are they playing at?

You could still make a complaint on this matter if they do this, and if they don't resolve then as normal procedures complain to the FOS.

Thanks di3004 I will wait until I get a settlement letter and take it from there, Halifax so far have been very prompt, cant fault them on that.

I will battle on with your help.:A
