After sending several emails yesterday and today to A&L (even sent one last week to the boss of Santander!) and phoning every day since last week trying to find out what's happening with my case, have just received a call from A&L telling me the cheque is being sent out today!! I was quite stunned as I wasn't expecting that! Yesterday they couldn't tell me anything, today it's being sent!
I'd advise everyone to keep on at the banks and don't let them fob you off!
I'm so grateful to Martin for all his advice on this website, and also to everyone who's posted here, who gave me the incentive to have a go at claiming and also the helpful advice received, especially from Di and Halphy. I'm now going to be £3k better off which is a great relief, as my circumstances could be changing soon with regards to my job. Good luck to everyone!
Wow, well done and Congratulations!:T:beer::j

after po recent post regarding lloyds paying me out an incorrect amount for my settlement, they confirmed 3 weeks later they calculated it wrong but due to me being told on many occasions that o was getting £2683 they are not going to try and recover the difference between what i was due which is £1340.
SO i won with them not only on the upholding of the complaint but on there error.
Now to top it off today they have gone and paid me what the re-calculated figures was £1340 ( I have a letter also saying that on this loan they will not be pursuing me for an overpayment, well the letter will be with me 2mo, they posted it today, but i have an e-mail to confirm this also)
due to previous issues with an overpayment they made on my other settlement, i told them of there error and a manager admitted it prob would never have been noticed.
Im so tempted to keep this and see what they do, i expect they wont notice as acrding to there records they think i wasnt paid the incorrect higher figure.
Does anyone know if a bank makes an error if there is a period they must notice it before its yours. I have put in high interest account today, and if they ask for it i will tell them they are subject to my 14 day t/a time. may they make us wait
any suggestions?0 -

Hi there
What a load of incompetant muppets they are!!!!, they don't know their **** from their elbows, honestly!.
I am not sure on the timescales of this to be honest, but 6 years rings the bell, but I could be wrong.
Actually I was reading something on the FOS website earlier, which you may find interesting, take a look at it here:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/ombudsman-news/87/87-banking-complaints.htm
I do hope though, they will redress you for the distress and the inconvenience, its not your fault at all.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi,I am currently claiming against Welcome Finance .I phoned them at the start of the week as that was their 8weeks PLUS an extra 4weeks timescale to reply up .I was told that an offer was being sent out in the post (still waiting)The offer is just under 5K but the way I added all the PPI up for the 9 loans ,I calculated it at over 10K at least lol .Each loan was a top up from the last and PPI was added each time ,surely when each new loan and PPi were started ,the previous PPI was cleared as each new agreement has a new PPI !!if that makes sense ??!!The way Ive calculated it is that each time a new loan was taken then the PPI was cleared in full before the new PPI took effect.Im under the impression that Welcome are trying to say that each time a new loan was taken ,then the PPI was paused to that point then amended according to the new loan amount ,but this is confusing me just because of each agreement showing a new higher amount each time ???>:( Also does anyone know the timescale for welcome to issue the cheque once they have received the acceptance form??(i maybe accept /i maybe not
) thx kaz xx
eg if loan 1 only ran for 12 months, you get 12 ppi monthly payments back plus interest, when they stopped your first loan ppi you will have been given a rebate of ppi, that will be taken off your win of mis sell for loan 1
if loan 2 only ran for 8 months then as above, you will get 8 ppi monthly payments back with interest-less the rebate for that ppi they gave you.
Hope this helps0 -

I take it they forgot to reduce the rebate at first did they perhaps?
They did this with ours as well, and kept getting back to them on this and they finally confirmed after about 3 letters and 5 emails they at first gave the wrong calculation, as they added this with the rebate at first instead of reducing it, as it would have been something like £2550 etc, but what they ended up refunding was £1553 etc, take a look at the email received here below last week.
Thank you for your e-mail sent on the 20th July 2010.
I have double checked with a colleague who has again confirmed that the payment has definitely gone through. In order for you to help me investigate the matter further, please can you provide me with a copy of your bank statement?
I apologise as the initial refund figure that was given to you was incorrect. The correct amount that you will be receiving is £1553.40 as you have already received £996.72 when you early settled your loan on the 3rd August 2002.
I again apologise for any confusion and inconvenience caused.
Kind regards,

PPI Claim against RBS.
Wrote to RBS (actually Lombard Direct, but same company).
A few weeks later they wrote back asking for a copy of the original letter as it had been "lost".
Re-sent the letter.
A few more weeks later they said no chance of it being mis-sold and gave me 8 pages of rubbish, and a £750 bribe if I dropped the case.
I wrote back telling them to check again as I disagree with what they said.
A couple of weeks later they wrote back saying that if I didn't have any further evidence then they can't look at it again.
Filed complaint with Ombudsman.
It's taken around a year already and I haven't heard from the bank yet but I spoke to the Ombudsman yesterday who confirmed that both him and RBS saw the claim as valid so it went in my favour. Now waiting for the bank to work out the money they owe, send it to the ombudsman, me to check and agree etc...
However, if someone can help I would be very grateful. How much should I be getting back if the premium was £6,541.79 over 84 months. It's 60 months in to the policy. The loan is frontloaded and they basically added the £6,541.79 to the £16,000 I wanted totalling £22,541.79 (£27,861.12 inc interest at 6.4% APR)
you will get back 60 x whatever the monthly payment for ppi was, not sure how they work out the interest but it should be a nice amount, are they giving you the 8% cos thats even better :T:T
think your ppi was about 77 a month so that makes 4.672 for a start
 oh wowwell done to you :money:

My emails received from Lloyds Customer care over the last few weeks.....
Thank you for your recent e-mail sent on the 5th July 2010.
I can confirm that you will receive the £261.57 (premium paid), £1299.19 (settlement difference) and £989.36 (8% interest). All three payments should enter your account as one amount.
Please feel free to contact Customer Care if you have any further queries.
Kind regards,
Lloyds TSB Customer Care.
Thank you for your patience while I have calculated the refund on the Loan Protection Insurance Policy on the above loan. I have received your signed acceptance slip and can now confirm the details of your final refund. I have calculated your refund so that you are now back in the position that you would have been had you not taken out this policy.
Please allow up to 21 days for the refund to reach your account(s).
Your refund will include the following;
1) £261.57 - this is the amount that I have calculated that you paid for the policy during the period that the policy was active. When making this calculation I have only taken into account the actual payments that you made. This may be different to the payments set out in your original loan agreement, for example the figure may differ if you missed a payment.
2) £989.36 - this is an additional payment of 8% simple interest which we have calculated on the amount that you paid for the policy during the period it was active.
3) As you settled your loan early, I have also calculated the difference between the settlement balance you paid and what your settlement balance would have been if you had not taken out the policy. We will pay you this difference of £1299.19 with an additional payment of 8% simple interest.
Your refund will be paid directly to your current account.
I have calculated your refund in accordance with the Financial Ombudsman Service guidelines.
I trust that you are satisfied that your concerns have been addressed and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for contacting Customer Care.
Yours sincerely
Thank you for your recent e-mail sent on the 9th July 2010.
I can confirm that the amount of £2550.12 will be credited into your requested current account.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Customer Care department if you have any further queries.
Kind regards,
Lloyds TSB Customer Care.
