Ok I had a loan with the associates now citi bank. Citi bank says they cannot find my original agreement, and have cashed my £1 cheque. To be honest i do not know if i took out PPI. What I do know is this.........
1. took out loan 25/01/2002
2. loan finished 01/02/2007
3. I borrowed £5600
4. Monthly repayment was £158.94
5. Term 60 months
6. I paid back £9,536.40
7. I do not know the APR. Citi did say that the APR rate for 2004 was 23%
So looking at the figures do you think I paid PPI? If so how much do you think I paid?
What can I do if i havent got my original loan agreement and they havent got it?0 -

Hi there
I know it means spending an extra tenner but maybe a full SAR (Subject assess request) will confirm all you need to know, as they have to provide all the details they hold going back the last 6 years, some will even hold details for even longer again.
More on SAR/template letter here - hope it helps.

Otherwise if you ring them they must confirm this to you.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi,
I am in the Armed Forces and upon joining the Royal Navy I was offered the chance to take out a Lloyds account in basic training as Lloyds have a permanent branch in Plymouth devoted solely to dealing with the Armed Forces sailors and Royal Marines. I took out a loan with PPI about 10 years ago, then subsequently over the years as I have needed different things like my car, etc I have taken out a new bigger loan then paid off the old one. All 6 loans I have taken out over the space of about 10 years were taken with an insurance policy I was advised to take.
I was shocked to learn that the policy didn't cover me as I am entitled to sick pay/medical pension if I am seriously injured so I would still have to pay off my loan even if I was in a really bad way. I was especially annoyed considering that the armed forces department sold me the insurance.
I contacted the bank by telephone and they were initially very helpful. They assured me that I was entitled to a refund and sent me some claim forms fairly quickly for a full refund with 8 per cent interest. I ticked the box to receive texts every time the status of my claim changed, and posted the forms straight away. After about a week I was slightly worried that I had not received a text telling me they had received my signed forms so I contacted them by telephone as I was worried the forms may have been lost in the post. They told me they had a backlog of 8 days and that once they had scanned the forms it could take up to 21 days to repay me but would probably be longer due to the backlog. After 9 days of fretting that they had still not contacted me to let me know they had received the forms (it doesn't take 9 days to open an envelope posted first class), and reading forums stating that big banks tend to use delay tactics I decided enough was enough and sent them an email. It is not so much the amount of time they are taking to repay me but the fact it has taken them 9 days to open the envelope, and the fact they haven't bothered to let me know what is going on even though I specifically requested they inform me by text. I took the advice of someone on one of the forums, and addressed it to the customer claims department but CC'd the CEO of Lloyds TSB. Lo and behold I got an email ten minutes later informing me that they had received my claim and they would be refunding me within 21 days. I am hoping that as the CEO is aware of the situation they will deal with my claim far more quickly now, and may look into the Armed forces issue, as I also stated that the decent thing to do would be to inform members of the Armed Forces if they have been mis-sold insurance as it is extremely unethical, especially with the global situation at the moment. It's all well and good everybody saying they support help the heroes etc, but to scam us when we are doing such a dangerous job for our country is despicable in my eyes.
Anyway my advice to anyone who is putting in an insurance claim or complaint, and being subjected to delay tactics or simply not getting anywhere is to do what I have done, and email your complaint to the following email addresses:
customer.care.insurance@lloydstsb.co.uk
eric.daniels@lloydstsb.co.uk
I will let you know how quickly my complaint is dealt with now, once I get my refund.

But will a SAR be any good seeing as it can only go back 6 years and my loan started in 2002.
Wouldnt it be better just to send the template letter and call their bluff, im sure if I send that first, it will gee them up into searching for my original agreement.0 -

Good luck with this Dean, you do have a great case here, so fingers crossed and yes it does help by copying all emails to customer care to the CEO, good one.:);)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi David, its a chance you take with SAR's unfortunately with one of mine I was lucky enough to receive info going back over the last 10 years or so but not all are that lenient as such.
So yes continue with the reclaiming is defo a good suggestion.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
