I took the advice of someone on one of the forums, and addressed it to the customer claims department but CC'd the CEO of Lloyds TSB. Lo and behold I got an email ten minutes later informing me that they had received my claim and they would be refunding me within 21 days.

    Just a quick update,
Checked my account today and I found that £50 had been debited to my account with the title F/FLOW LLOYDS TSB. I initially panicked as I thought I had maybe misread the refund documents and this was all they were giving me, but after a phone call I discovered that the senior customer services manager had put it into my account as a goodwill gesture for the length of time it had taken them to deal with my complaint. That's nice of them, it's not much but at least the thought is there, although I would prefer they hurried up actually paying my claim.
They said that my claim has been processed and I should get a letter explaining the breakdown, then the funds should be released into my bank within 21 days but hopefully sooner (funny how that figure keeps popping up - I presume they just wait until the end of the month so they can get interest on the money before releasing it). I asked the advisor how much it would be but she fobbed me off saying it would be too much to go into on the phone. I would rather she just tell me but I presume as there are six claims in all she didn't want to go through the list and work it out.
Anyway here's hoping it arrives soon. Anyway the point of this message is that if you have a genuine complaint, and list the CEO's email address as well as the complaints department then not only will you get more chance of being dealt with quickly but you may get a goodwill gesture as well so worth trying.
    Regards,
    Dean

PINGER2006, we had a loan with fp we cleared it in two by remortgaging, we are now trying to claim back ppi, amount originally paid as on loan contract of £13649.00, looking at the reply you got from fp, could you tell me how it was worked out. How long did it take for them to get in contact with you? or did you contact them? We have just sent away the FOS complaint form to them.

    • What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    • Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
    • How much did you get back: £6,000!
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: after 1 letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
I'm usually a bit of a lurker on this forum but wanted to drop a quick line to say thanks for the template letters - we sent the first one and recieved an offer of just over £6k in the post yesterday. This is seriously life changng stuff for us as we will use the money to pay off other outstanding debts - by doing this we'll be between £230 and £450 a month better off. Such a relief to know that in 21 days we have the space to breathe again each month and its all because of you lovely people at moneysavingexpert!

Thank you all so very very much - you have made a MASSIVE difference to us.

  • Just had a letter from Lloyds upholding my claim for PPI on Credit Card. Their letter says they will settle in line with the standard refund remedy recommended by the FOS. They do not give a figure but I guess I am safe to sign and return the agreement?
I was astonished to get this reply within four days of writing to them.

Barclays also replied very quickly but 'they are looking into it...'

Like other respondents, I had been contacted by a claims company (who wanted 30% + VAT). I decided to go it alone following the support I found here. Thank you to all and especially to Martin.

  • Replying to myself! But with another couple of questions.

Part of my claim against Lloyds was that, at the time of taking out the PPI, I was employed and had more than adequate cover from my employers, in the event of sickness, accident etc. I am now self employed. They stated in their letter that one of the reasons they upheld my claim is that I am self-employed. Does this jeopardise the value of the claim?

Secondly, I note from several other posts that some success is had from emailing. Presumably attaching all relevant documantation? Where do I find the relevant email addresses? Also, do my claims for Lloyds Loan PPIs go to the same 'Customer Care' address or do I, in the first instance, send them to the Branch where I took the loan out? Many thanks for any comments.

    John
  • I've been receiving the regular email from MoneySavingExpert.com for quite a while and after much thought I decided to try my luck with a claim for PPI. I took a loan out as a top up on top of my mortgage 7 years ago and had PPI included in the payments. The loan was over 20 years but the PPI was for just 5 years. I printed out the template letter and sent off my claim 2 weeks ago. I have just received a letter offering me a refund of £5000+ which I will receive within 2 weeks. Many thanks Martin because without you this would never have happened, Keep up the good work!!!

Hi there, you will get the total ppi amount paid to the day you finished the loan with interest ,less the rebate of ppi when you settled the loan, and if you win and it is not a goodwill gesture ( doubt it will be knowing fp!) then you may get the 8% .Hpoe this helps. And by the way, fp are not known for speed on this matter!!
