  • I'm really annoyed that they are not keeping the 'trial' cards live, only had a chance to use it briefly in France last year. This year I'm off on 10th June- after the trial closes - so won't be able to use it...Grr

Yep it's just ridiculous, and no communication as to why.

But 10 weeks advance notice giving people time to make alternative arrangements.

Yes, but that doesn't make it any better.

I have just applied for FairFx Prepaid Travelcard (euro) using the MSE link and very happy with my £20 - thanks!
Question I have is, will it be possible to get cash advances / money-back from big supermarkets in FRANCE. And, if so, will that be free of charge or will FairFx still charge me €1.50 as if I did that at an ATM machine?

Otherwise, are there any ways of getting CASH on a Travel Card without attracting the €1.50 ATM fee. I noticed that the FairFx bank walk-in/cashier use fee is actually €6.50...

    Thanks!
  • The Supercard app has just been updated, so it would appear that Travelex is gearing up for a full release...

However, looking at the FAQ's there are a number of changes:
    • Supercard is now a MasterCard (using the MasterCard wholesale exchange rate when you use it abroad).
    • There is now a charge of 2.99% for ATM withdrawals made outside of the UK
    • You will only be able to access your account through the app (functionality has apparently been improved) as managing your account through the website is no longer available.
I've just registered and now waiting for an email update which is supposed to be sent within a couple of days.

(Sorry, tried to post with links but as a new user I am not allowed )

    I've not had this.

MasterCard exchange rate linked to a cashback / points earning credit card maybe worthwhile.

Overseas withdrawal fee just about kills it for me though. I might consider it as a backup to Clarity.

Yeah withdrawal fee makes it pointless for me, it's more than my own card charges

The old card was treated as a debit card by airlines, so avoided their credit card fee charge. Think MasterCard prepaid cards are treated as credit card.

I've been waiting weeks for the new Supercard to launch, but the ATM fees make it pretty rubbish :-(
Will go for a Revolut card instead as they also have a prefect exchange rate, and don't charge ATM fees abroad (as long as you don't withdraw more than £500 or the equivalent per month).
