In case of multiple insurance : Main insurance that you purchase by yourself + Insurance as part of the perks from Bank A/C for instance:
- What happen if you you do not know that you are covered by your bank insurance (say for instance) ??
-Also, how could they know if you do not declare and only claim damage from one insurer ??
In super card case I think you do not need to split the claim as this is just secondary which is not covered by your main insurance ...
I am thinking that this Super card travel Insurance might be useful for people who already have travel insurance with Nationwide and want to travel outside Europe. In this case you do not need to upgrade your NW insurance to cover worldwide so saving of about £20 a year or even more if it is to include US & Caribbean.
Any comment on this ???I think supercard have just shot themselves in the foot..
Most people using the card are travellers.. who I assume pick up decent levels of travel insurance, however supercard just emailed to say from 21st september they will be including free travel insurance.
From a quick skim of the terms, it looks ok, but has a much lower level of cover compared to my annual policy.
From what I understand, having multiple insurers for one event is not a good idea, as any claim will be split, which is more work, and also means you will have to declare multiple claims in future to other insurers when you come to renew.
The problem occurs because you cant opt out! the only way not to have the cover is to cancel your supercard, which is unfortunate, as once this comes into effect I think I will have to do just that. (although as it happens my annual policy is with AXA who seem to be supercards insurer too - so im not sure if that will have any bearing on this)
Anyone got any thoughts on this? Is it really problematic to have multiple travel policies concurrently?
Just to clarify things a bit hopefully:
My existing AXA policy says:1. Dual insurance If at the time of any incident which results in a claim under this policy, there is another insurance covering the same loss, damage, expense or liability we will not pay more than our proportional share (not applicable to Section B – Personal accident).
And the Supercard one says:SUBROGATION These insurance benefits are secondary to any travel insurance policy you may have. Before you claim under this Benefit Schedule, you must claim off of any other insurance policy, indemnity, warranty or any other source for any claim up to the policy limit. Once this has been reached, you may make a claim for the balance under this Benefit Schedule. We will not cover any costs where there is another insurance policy, indemnity, warranty, or health insurer or any other source covering the same loss, damage, expense or liability (not applicable to Section F – Travel Accident).
Which appear to directly contradict each other.. which suggests to me this is problematic.0 -
I haven't yet read the full terms of the Supercard insurance policy, but I wonder how it might work for those who haven't bothered to take out regular policy. I understand it's limited but how limited? Or does it only come into effect if you have a main policy also?0

Hi need an advice here with Supercard. I prepaid a hotel in Morocco back in May 2017 with Supercard for a stay in December 2017.
I arrived at the hotel and they asked me to show the physical card I used to make the prepayment. This is the hotel's policy to ensure there's no fraud. I didn't remember which card I used (it was the Supercard).
Since I don't have the card, they did the following:
- Charged my stay to another credit card
- Refunded the prepayment I made in May 2017 back to original card
Only now I am realising that the original card was the Supercard, which of course has been closed! I've emailed Supercard and their support is almost nonexistent. Would this refund go through?
Thank you very much in advance!0 -
I had a similar issue in between the beta and the official product.
If I remember correctly, I had to contact the card issuer (beta was issued by a different company to the official launch card). My refund came through within 5 days.
Unfortunately I can't remember the name and contact details, as like you I disposed of my old cards.0 -

Is this even possible? I thought it's not legal to "refund" to a different card than the one the original purchase was made to?0 -

But you paid Supercard with a card did you not? Then paid the merchant, I don’t know if it’s possible but worth asking the question of the card provider that you paid Supercard with0
