For cash withdrawal in foreign currency Claritycard, as long as you are aware to clear the balance asap.
For small purchase in foreign currency ignoring the cashback potential both are equally good as long as you clear your balance in the statement month.0 -
Hi,
Would love a FACTUAL answer to this. Tried calling CS, but the lady told me one thing, then the opposite. As SCard has no written contact save the trolls of Facebook and Twitter I thought maybe you could get an answer.
My question is this:
I am in the UK, using a UK ISP. I go onto a foreign website, let’s say Australian, and book a holiday (website address ends .au). The cost of the holiday is in AUD. I pay for that holiday in AUD using Supercard.
Is that classed as “ Card usage outside the United Kingdom “ and thus transaction free; or is it classed as “ Card usage within the United Kingdom “ ( E-Commerce Transactions within the UK (non-sterling transactions) ) and thus subject to a £1 +1% transaction fee?
Thanks in advance

Not sure about the new card, but the old card used to be quite painful to order online with.
I did manage to order some things of Amazon Spain site (for delivery in Spain) and it worked fine with no charges so I would suggest that it is the currency used rather than location used. So if the invoice is in Euros and paid in Euros you are fine, if in GBP then you are not.0 -
New card fine. Although never had any problems with the old one either,
It's the currency rather than location, I used the old card to take out euros from an ATM at home and there was no fees0 -
I got invitation to register for a new card which I have not done.
What I am thinking here is that:
It will cost nothing and no credit search.
It could be useful for the future if you could link it to cash back credit card, ignoring the load for transaction in foreign currency as you are not paying this.
My questions is:
Which card do you link to Travelex super card and why ??
As supercard is billing your bank in local currency, the cashback you earn in your bank should be local. So if you spend abroad, you will get cash get as if yu were using it at home. has anyone tried this and could confirm this ??

After being on the waiting list for the full rollout of the Supercard I was really pleased that it arrived a few days b fore my holiday.
Having used it once I'm now not so pleased.
I made a payment online to a foreign website to book tickets just before I went. The transaction showed me an expected value and this was debuted from my account.
A couple of days later they have debited an additional 1.9% from my account to cover currency fluctuations since the original purchase despite the pound strengthening in the past week. Also there's no mention of this extra charge in the app. Just snuck out.
I understand that at the moment exchange rates are very volatile, but to take an additional charge without any notification seems off, especially when the exchange rate has gone in the other direction.0 -
When you make a card purchase the currency conversion doesn't happen until the transaction is settled, which is typically several days after purchase. When the pending transaction appears you get an estimate of the cost, in your case the rate has dropped between purchase and settlement.
The pound has not been strengthening, quite the opposite, it hit a new low against the dollar yesterday and for the currency I'm currently spending (MYR) it has continued to fall (now down 12% since the vote).
If you want more certainty the Revolut card does conversions at the time of purchase.0 -
Worst sign up process ever.
2 weeks ago took photo of passport and utility bill, app said to wait 48 hours.
3 days later went into app, some glitch seemed to happen and it switched from wait 48 hours to "sign up now"
Took photos again, submitted. Told to wait 48 hours.
3 days later I was emailed stating the quality wasn't good enough and to email in. By this point I was already on the holiday I had wanted the card for and only had access to my passport and digital utility/bank statements. I took another photo of my passport and attached a PDF scan of a utility bill I had backed up online in Evernote and a PDF I downloaded directly from my bank (I do online paperless statements) and explained the situation.
I got an email back several days later stating both the digital copy and the scanned version of a paper copy were not acceptable and that only a photo of the document would suffice.
At this point I told them where to go and wished them all the best
Anyone else trying to apply, you have been warned... You are dealing with robots reading a script not human beings with common sense.0 -
So maybe this card isn't good for online purchases. Made a dollar purchase and appear to have been charged the correct amount, but now a few days later more has came out Have contacted supercard to see what's going on, will report back0

Can you work out the final exchange rate you got and compare that with the published MasterCard exchange rate on the day of settlement? You should be getting the MasterCard rate, they can't just take extra because they feel like it...0
