Travelex Supercard

Just used mine in Spain for the first time - money no issues, now need to see it come through. The cashpoint offered me its own conversion rate to GBP which I presumed I didn't want so I chose Euros, one to watch out for as I guess you lose some of the advantage of the card then?0

Yep always choose Euros. Most Euro cashpoints will give you this option, but you'll almost certainly get a worse rate if you choose sterling.
Now where this is a mayor problem is when paying for things like fuel or in hotels and restaurants. Sometimes the attendant just presses pay in GBP. Once they've pressed it there is nothing that can be done.0 -
Out of curiosity, am I the only one still waiting for my card?0

Finally my card has arrived!. I plan to use it for cash withdrawls abroad only as it saves the hassle of transfering money to my Halifax Clarity account each time I have withdrawn cash. Hopefully the cashback that I should receive will negate the Mastercard/Visa differential.0

I have a transaction (for a couple of hundred pounds) from 6th June that has still not been charged to my linked account (credit-card). It initially showed as pending on the linked-card statement but has subsequently disappeared. I am certainly not going to advise that people should avoid this product - at the moment it is providing me with free funds afterall! - but you would definitely be advised to use it very cautiously. Two other more recent charges have have been debited from a different linked account (credit-card, same card provider but a different card account) in a timely fashion; so very mixed results at present. The 'missing' transaction is a prepaid hotel stay, so the worry is that Supercard will attempt to reverse the transaction if they can't ultimately work out how to correctly charge me and that the hotel will subsequently cancel the booking. At the moment I am not convinced the savings are worth the hassle. The main draw for me was the ability to make foreign-currency cash withdrawals from a credit-card for zero / minimal cost.0

Finally, I had a call a call from a nice lady, Janet Casey, at Tuxedo Money, who manage the card for Travelex, to help with my logging in problems. I'd registered in May and due to the app giving error messages, I'd tried different passwords. So when I got an email to say I'd been successful, I didn't know which password I'd used. I received the card promptly and then the fun began...
Because I didn't know which password worked I tried different variations to register my new card. After three tries I got locked out with an 'Account Suspended' message. Customer services were useless, they kept asking me to reinstall the app. After a few calls they reset my password but couldn't see on their system that the account was suspended, so I still couldn't login.
This went on for 2 weeks. Eventually I took to Twitter and messaged @travelexUK on June 3rd. It took a month but with persistence they passed a message to the App Support Team. The call from Janice today sorted it out.
Ironically during this waiting period I'd been abroad three times but it'll be a while before I next travel and can try out the card.
So, if you're having login problems you could either try calling CS and asking them to put you through to App Support, or try Twitter. Don't expect an instant fix though :T0 -
Eventually got an answer, withdrawing euros in the UK won't incur a fee on the card0

Bit confused about whether to link a capital one aspire and post office credit card to my new Supercard.
Am travelling to America at the end of the month and my understanding is that if I use my supercard linked to either of the above I lose my credit car protection on any reasonably big purchase over £100?
Am I better of then not linking these cards?
Both of the linked cards should give a good exchange rate conversion but would not use these obviously to withdraw cash.
Sorry to go a bit but should I just link my supercard to my debit card and withdraw cash this way?
Thanks for sticking with me on this!0 -
You can link them and use the supercard for purchases under £100 or purchases that aren't important. Link your debit card too, you can switch cards on the fly using the app.
If you're going to be buying big electronic items etc.. then you might want to use the credit card outright.0
