I will be going on holiday (stag do) in Ibiza in the next couple of weeks - are there any reasons I can't use this supercard abroad there? I have a Santander account to link it to, plan to be going to the main 'attractions' (clubs) out there, will take some cash anyway... But I'm a little nervous about taking less cash and relying on the supercard while it's in its infancy!

Also, any reason I CAN'T let my other half take this with her (for the hen do) the week before and link her account? Then link my account and take it with me after?

    Thanks

Some Santander accounts allow fee free withdrawals from Santander machines in Spain.
  • Having just received a call from Tuxedo's head office (the Supercard's actual card operator), from some anonymous talking mouthpiece with even less of a clue than their Indian call centre staff, I've taken great pleasure in cutting up my card and requesting my unused account be closed. I will waste no further time on this extremely flawed product.

This company, as previously outlined, has zero interest in listening to your complaint or dealing with what is a very simple problem. The excuse that "this a beta" is a flimsy one at best when other products on the market get the customer service element right from the get go.

Stick to Halifax's Clarity card or a product like FairFX if you want trustworthy foreign transactions. Hopefully the arrival of Apple Pay will be the downfall of awful products like the Supercard.

I have had the same problem three times in France. Usually the Supercard worked but on several occasions it was declined. When it was declined I made the payment using another card. Then later I found ther 'declined' payment had actually been processed by the Supercard meaning I have paid twice.

I've not heard from their support for over three days and it looks like it's going to be a battle to get refunded. :(

Great product... if you have an iPhone and don't want to spend more than 20 quid.

I have an iPhone and the £20 limit is at the discretion of the retailer and their contactless hardware/provider (Apple Support articles HT204906 & HT202527). Failing to see a problem.

At least I'll see my transactions in near realtime and not be waiting 6 or more days later for the "have they or haven't they" scenario others are experiencing with the "excellent" product that is the Supercard.

So having managed to register when this went live I never received a card only an email to say it would be delayed a few weeks. Still nothing.

Looks like I'm better off without it anyway looking at this forum! I'll stick to my Halifax Clarity!

The best advice I could possibly give you given my terrible experience. Others will undoubtedly think the sun shines out of Travelex/Tuxedo's rear.

It does seem to work for fine for some people. It good to hear all sides though.

Personally, I'd already made the decision to relegate it to a back-up card only, based on the inferior VISA exchange rate.

Unless it's for a backup card, I don't understand why people with a Clarity were applying for the card anyway. Curiosity? Fear of missing out on something?

Only took out the Clarity card as a result of my poor Supercard experience. A card which, at the time, seemed like a great idea if it meant I would avoid juggling a Citibank US dollar linked debit card and a FairFX card like I did last year.
