Travelex Supercard

  • I'm having a rum time with the Supercard. Used it to pay for a hotel in Helsinki on the 7th of June, then had the transaction refunded by the hotel next day (employer was meant to have covered it).

Supercard still have my £150. Have emailed them four times, to no response. Was promised three days ago that the money would be returned within two days. Promised this morning it would be resolved by this evening, and that they'd call me back.

Neither has happened. I'd be extremely wary of using the thing for anything besides cash withdrawal, or small purchases.
  • Maybe I haven;t found the right info yet, but ...

If I link a debit card and a credit card to the supercard then how will it know that:
When I use it to withdraw cash from an ATM I want to use debit card?
When I use it to buy fuel at a filling station I want to use credit card?

Although you add multiple cards only one is linked at any one time. You can change them in real time though via the app.

As I explained before the duplicate auths shouldn't be a problem, they will be caused by poor handling by Travelex of timeout messages but there should only be one actual posting to your account.

But it is if as one of the posters has mentioned, the money is being shown as pending twice in his bank account thus reducing the amount of money available to him. Money that might be needed for other things.

You are right, customer services can delete one of the authorisations at most card issuers but not all. Call the issuer of your linked card and tell them what happened.
  • I have spoken to Lloyds and they say they can't do anything until the transaction has been taken. Supercard are being very unhelpful in this so I guess I have to wait for the transaction to go from pending to cleared before I can raise a dispute with Lloyds. Won't be using it again.

Remember that it's a Pilot and that you are the guinea pigs. They are using it to find out what can go wrong.

I would be very surprised if a duplicate transaction hits your account.

I will be going on holiday (stag do) in Ibiza in the next couple of weeks - are there any reasons I can't use this supercard abroad there? I have a Santander account to link it to, plan to be going to the main 'attractions' (clubs) out there, will take some cash anyway... But I'm a little nervous about taking less cash and relying on the supercard while it's in its infancy!

Also, any reason I CAN'T let my other half take this with her (for the hen do) the week before and link her account? Then link my account and take it with me after?

    Thanks
