Ok, so the only issue here is that the original price is wrong in the paperwork, even though the net price is correct?

No, the net price is not correct, it's nearly £400 more than it should be.

No, the net price was always £7100 plus the OPs car.

Yet that's the figure that was explicitly agreed...

    How by accident?

Of course, they need to check how the value minus the trade in left £850 attributed to tax, but that's wrong even if you account for the incorrect sticker price (because the 6 months-tax can't be more than the £277 for band M).

The math was wrong somehow, but they agreed to it, and it's got nothing to do with the sticker price.

The dealer either deliberately or accidentally put the wrong price for the car on the receipt. The OP is guilty of poor maths but the dealer should have started off with the correct price.

Nearly everyone seems to be on the dealers side which I find extremely hard to understand, but hopefully the OP has been back to the dealers and it is now sorted.

It really doesn't much matter one tiny bit if the price was £10,100 with £3k trade-in, £9,600 with £2,500 trade-in, £9,100 with £2,000 trade-in. The bottom line is the same for each of those - the OP is handing over their car keys and 360 crisp £20 notes in exchange for a different set of car keys.
