Suppose there is no chance the OP coming back to say I saw a car I really liked, offloaded a troublesome TI, agreed to pay £7100 on top of the TI but now want to mump about the invoice that I don't understand?
Crikey, more support for a dodgy dealer.

I rarely agree with your consumer advice but in this case I do think the OP should at least go back and have a discussion.

BUT this is all pointless without the OP,s input, the thread may as well be closed

Trouble is you not only accepted the 7100 but then your hubby beat them down to 7000 so in effect you agreed a price. Pain in the butt but they accepted your offer, not you accepted theirs. I should just enjoy the car, not worth getting stressed.

    Close but no cigar. ;)

Garage said £7200, hubby said £7000, they agreed on £7100.

Given that the majority of posters on here seem to be mature and level headed people, don't you think that the dealer may well be in the right if so many people are supporting his standpoint?

This seems to be bolstered by the fact that the OP hasn't been seen for a while either (possibly out of embarrassment due to the fact that they didn't check the paperwork for what is the second largest purchase of most people's lives after a house).

No. The vast, vast majority of used cars don't have VAT charged on them. B'sides, it's illegal to not quote a VAT-inclusive price to an audience who aren't predominately VAT-reg.

Just because a number of people on here support the dealer doesn't mean very much at all I'm afraid. How can a dealer be in the right if he charges more than the advertised price?
I'm not going to speculate why the OP hasn't returned, but there is also every possibllity that the dealer has apologised for getting his sums wrong and sorted them out a good deal
  • If people's opinions don't matter, why was the OP seeking counsel on this forum in the first place then?

Personally, I think you and the OP are both stupid and naive not to see the true picture in this deal.

THE OP AGREED TO A VALUATION OF £3000 FOR THEIR TRADE IN.

THEY AGREED TO PAY £7100 BALANCE.

THEY ADMITTED TO NOT CHECKING THE CALCULATIONS.

THEY HAVE NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT.

So you now have to reesort to calling people stupid and using capital letters, how childish.

i have explained my opinion many times and I'm fully entitled to it, you are also entitled to yours. But you are not entitled to start calling people stupid because they do not agree with you.
