Paid deposit on a car and just noticed they sold it at the wrong price

Of course it doesn't matter if the bottom line is the same but in this case it's not, the OP has either been deliberately conned or it's a clerical mistake.straighttalker wrote: »How about the air freshener at £100??
It was just an illustration. Personally, if I can arrive at a deal with which I'm happy with, I don't care how the dealer dresses it up on the invoice.
I'm just surprised that anyone can feel this is fair...........0 -
OP what happened when you went back or have you accepted it0

Where's the con?
They agreed on £7100 plus a car in exchange.0 -
But the bottom line IS the same. The OP hasn't stated anything else!Of course it doesn't matter if the bottom line is the same but in this case it's not, the OP has either been deliberately conned or it's a clerical mistake.

I'm surprised that you're having trouble understanding this.......0 -
No problem. £7,100 plus trade-in? I'll let you figure out exactly how to work the numbers just so long as it ends up there...Well if you don't understand I'll have to sell you a car.
Once again, you've dodged the question... How much IS the difference, to their pocket, between the £7,100 plus trade-in they agreed, and the £7,100 plus trade-in they are paying?0 -
Just to simplify for the hard of understanding, why do you think a trader would inflate both the selling price and the trade in numbers? The price to change is the only thing to focus on for a consumer after all.
SP only goes towards overall turnover (not profit) and all the legit traders are VAT registered anyway, so not much consequence there. What if though, after all their hard work on the TI, they get less for it, either retailing or trade? Oh dear, that item bought by the company has now "lost" them money.0 -

There's nothing to dodge, the OP agreed to the inflated price without thinking. We all make occasional mistakes and I'm sure the garage have already reimbursed them.0 -
Surely the op is not complaining that the cost to change is £7100
They are complaining that the cost to change should have been £6495
£9495 - trade in at £3000
I know they agreed £7100 to change so that is the complaint not the invoice numbers0
