  • has anybody bought mobile deal from M2YD recently? deals are lucrative, but q. is do they cause problem in paying the cashbacks. could somebody advise me whether its safe to get from M2YD please?
  • I have bought 2 deals in the last week and in truth, my largest/only concern is whether Phones4U remain trading during the next 12 months.

I have had 1 cashback paid so far, new contract, minimum hassle, there are others that give this company the thumbs up who are further in to the contract.
Phones 4 you is one of the bigger phone companies, so less chance of going bust than other not so big ones.

Took out a contract with these fellows last year and it has been OK! Last year they allowed me to change my tariff and this did not affect the cashback as their T&C's suggested this was OK as copied and pasted below

    Me:
Regarding my order below which is on cashback. Currently the phone below is on the £35 dolphin plan 300 mins + 400 texts. I would like to change it to the £35 Racoon tariff 400 mins + 50 texts. The terms and conditions for cashback state :-

"The bill(s) accompanying your claim form must show that you have, at all times since the date of connection pursuant to the promotional offer, been on the same or higher value tariff as at the date of redemption"

Would I still be able to claim cashback if I changed to the Racoon tariff which is of the same value as the Dolphin plan, as your terms say that I should stay on the same or higher vale tariff. It does not mention equivalent tariff.

    Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your recent enquiry.
As you have stated on the e-mail you must be on the same or higher value tariff at the date of redemption as when you took the contract out. It does not matter whether it is raccoon or dolphin.

    Kind Regards.

However the T&C's have now changed. It no longer mentions
"The bill(s) accompanying your claim form must show that you have, at all times since the date of connection pursuant to the promotional offer, been on the same or higher value tariff as at the date of redemption"

But instead this year we have :-
    1. To qualify for your Cheque Back, you must:
      • Have a live contract with the network you were connected to at the time you purchased your qualifying contract handset and tariff
      • Have maintained continuous usage on this network and tariff up to and including the start of the qualification period
So it seems the T&C's have changed. I have sent them an email but no reply as yet. Can anyone else confirm or deny whether a change in tariff (but keep the same value of tariff) will invalidate the cashback.

Reason I ask it because they have a really good deal on one £40/month tariff with 11 months free BUT this has low minutes and on another £40 tariff they are giving more minutes but it is only 7 months free, so would rather go for the 11 months free tariff and then ask Vodafone to swap me on to the same value but more minutes tariff and keep my cashback. Have my cake and eat it if you will.

Anyone queried this recently and had any success with M2YD and do Vodafone allow such switches in tariffs?

  • The only way to be safe is get get written confirmation from the dealer direct and ask Vodafone about the other part. It's no good relying on what someone on here tells you if it conflicts with the apparent t&c - only unequivocal clarification from the horses mouth matters. However, despite the clumsy wording in places this dealer is pretty good at present and I would think they will confirm it would be ok.

I know that MJ and you're spot on with the advice, I asked them last year and got the confirmation, I was asking to confirm with other members about what they have heard and to confirm what a M2YD CS rep told me on the phone since. I've emailed M2YD but not had a written reply as of yet.

Vodafone CS told me it's possible to change tariffs if they are the same value on the phone, asked them it via email too, but not had a reply as yet.

I'm a veteran of cashback deals and have completed atleast 5 successfully so don't worry about me, I know what I'm doing.

    hi,
anyone else had their order cancelled without being informed?I ordered a redemption deal through them on thurs morning, expecting my phone to arrive the next day,by sat still no phone, called them and they said they had been out of stock and royal mail were picking it up 1pm sat.Expected it yesterday, still nothing today, called them again and they said they've cancelled the order as that deal is no longer available!
Can I do anything to get them to honour this as
1.they didn't even let me know they'd cancelled the order,so here's muggins waiting for it and
2.do they not have to offer a decent alternative as it didn't state it was out of stock and is still available now,but with a lesser deal?
    Any advice much appreciated:confused:

I cannot be sure for certain, as I haven't taken a deal with this lot personally, but I am fairly sure that if they phrase things so precisely there is a reason. The reason deals are different on different tariffs at the same price is because the networks sometimes subsidise some tariffs more than others, even if the user pays the same/month. It stands to reason that the deal is better on one £40 deal because they get paid more for it. If you change deal, the odds are that the network will take that extra money back from the dealer, who would not then be able afford to pay you the extra. So saying many dealers have suffered because of the cashback fallout, so tend to play fairer, although the occasional nudge can be required. Personally I wouldn't risk it, unless you do get a positive response in writing from them.

No. All covered in their ts + cs:
All orders are subject to acceptance and availability........Any orders placed by you will be treated as an offer to purchase the goods or services from us and we have the right to reject such offers at any time.
