welcome vixtress - great advice from victory there who is still being all helpful and wonderful despite being a bit down which I think is lovely! I think you're reasons are probably very similar to many of ours for anting to lose weight and they are reasons that are tangible and you will see yourself moving towards them. You should also take a look at the losing weight recpes thread which is linked from page one of this one - you'll find some great recipes there.
Well done on cancelling your mother Victory - I'm sure you will appreciate each other a lot more in day trips. You did brilliantly to survive the holiday, but I think anymore would be pushing it.
Seren has the right idea with setting yourself a minimum and maximum weight and keeping up with your weigh ins. You obviously get a real kick out of healthy cooking so I think you are going to be fine at maintaining. As Seren says though, you need to talk to your OH. Secret binge eating and self destructive self loathing isn;t going to make either of you happy. You are great at balancing your food intake, you've proved you can do it! If it helps at all, maybe you could 'save up' for any splurge that you want to have - so if you make a date with OH for dinner out on Sunday you stick to the wholemeal bread and healthy stuff for a few days beforehand? I've learned ( and it's taken a while) that I enjoy my treats FAR more if I have earned them as opposed to trying to pay them off afterwards. And it's very MSE!0 -
Hi all, I'm back!
:hello:
Italy was fantastic, but unfortunately I picked up a stomach virus while we were in Florence, which made me ill for the three days we were in Rome. We somehow managed to see the sights we wanted to see, but we also saw more of the inside of our hotel room than I'd planned. Still, it saved us money - the restaurant prices were shocking - and I'm not expecting to have gained any weight! :T I'm still not recovered, so I'll be off to see the doc tomorrow.
I started trying to read all the posts, but there are so many I skipped most of the pages once I'd found the chart for last week - well done Delly, you did a grand job, thank you. Good luck to everyone this week.
Gotta go - plenty to catch up on, and a suitcase full of holiday washing to do..!
See you tomorrow.

Oh Wow Victory - I really feel for you. My mum can be passive-agressive with me .. telling me I'm too heavy and implying I'm lazy and not a good wife and mother whilst "loving" me on the other hand by buying me carrot cake and feeding me biscuits. I put a lot of her behaviour down to the fact that she had a really hard life as a child and one reason for her getting married to my Dad was to escape the terrible home life she had. I forgive her because she doesn't know any other way... maybe your mumm was the same?
I can't give any advice on maintaining because it's never happened to me, but keep posting and you'll be great - just one tip though - stop the secret eating, it's a step onto a very slippery slope. Have what you want and enjoy it.
Welcome new posters - we're always glad for more company and welcome back tallgirl.
Unfortunately my bad weekend showed up as a 1lb gain this week. The worst thing is, I didn't really eat anything enjoyable enough to make the gain worthwhile. It's also totm at the end of the week so I'm hoping it's bloating.
So guys - if you're going to gain this week, make sure it's because you did or ate something that you enjoyed. Otherwise, it's not worth it!
welcome back Lois I'm sorry you were ill on hols. (especially with all that yummy Italian food!). I'll e-mail the chart back to you and you can see if you need to fix it.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

Just a half a lb loss for me this week. A bit disappointing but didn't get a chance to do any proper exercise and I am hoping for more next week.
BTW, as an aside, I usually allow myself a sizeable bowl of cereal in the morning and then avoid carbs for the rest of the day. Out of interest, I weighed my bran flakes - 100g !!!! That is a lot and I didn't think it was anything like that. So a piece of advice for those who count things - weigh your cereal cos it might weigh more than you think. 100g!!! Can't believe it even now!0 -
Thank you for the fantastic advice:D I feel happier now mother has been cancelled, just waiting for OH to come home to talk to him, thanks beanie suggs, DELLY I agree my mother is like yours, the only thing is her behaviour is not forgiveable;)
Welocme back Lois We all missed ya':D0 -
No time to read back all thread right now but will catch up later. Can you put me down for a 1.5lb loss this week please?
Thanks

Welcome back lois, Hopefully you'll get better soon.
I have a suggestion regarding the chart and suggs and Victory and any other maintainers...
They no longer need the challenge of losing but they need a goal at the same time...why not move their names to a maintainers section at the bottom of the chart where their weights add up to zero...so +1 if they gain but then if they lose it the next week its -1 so the total cancels down to zero? don't know how much work that could be though...that way they can compete to be maintainer of the months and get the bitey boot for being too slim or gaining too much?....
or something along those lines...
What do the maintainers think?
Ohh...BTW I've finally lost 2lbs....haven't done anything especially different but have started fidgeting more....0
