I won't be 'til later as I AM off to London to talk to Maria, the portuguese consultant about whether to have tablets or cortison injections for the arthritis, I am real nervous, hate going on the tube on my own but have been deserted by the family (school, work) so it is me and me going this time:D

    Back on later...

Petrichor :A, thank you very much for your latest Pam Ayres impersonation. Hey, what am I on about? Pam Ayres should feel honoured to attempt a petrichor impersonation!!!! You're much better than her. Thanks also to Suggs, Annie and victory

Yesterday was a horrible day when I got home. MrsA had been texting me saying that Bailey wasn't his self and was ill, but she is a bit of a drama queen so I kind of halved the drama and set it aside. WHen I got back though he looked really ill. For an arthritic old thing he's really bouncy, but last night he was reluctant to move and almost looked as if he was crying, which of course set both of us blubbing all night. Didn't want to go a walk, wouldn't eat, was walking very gingerly, it was horrible. MrsA went to bed just before me and Bailey was on the bed with her so I slept in the spare room to avoid making him move on his legs. This morning though he seems his normal self and I'm :j. He has a little bit of a limp but often has that with his arthritis. He went to the poodle parlour for the first time on Saturday and for being a brave soldier he got rewarded with extra ball throws and a bone. He's never had a bone from us (and won't be getting any more) and I think both that and the extra exercise affected him adversely in different ways - a bit of illness and a bit of stiffness combined. Much better today though. Sorry to bore you all, but I'm just so :j.

Anyway, back to WL.... if nothing changes before weigh-in tomorrow, I'll have worried myself back to a maintain, so that's good :D

Serendisglair:I generally find that if I pretend I'm more confident than I am then the confidence kind of follows...that make sense to anyone?
Makes total sense to me Seren –I’ve been using this technique in life for a while now and it snow balls. Your ‘pretend’ confidence is absorbed by others and is reflected back to you. On feeling other’s confidence in you then increases your own. Not that I’ve totally sussed it of course.
Just had to refer to this and you're so right! How many times have we read of some actor/actress claiming to have problems with confidence:confused:, so they carry on assuming a role to help them in real life

Petrichor was brave enough to say she felt daunted at the prospect of being a disappointment to us all if we met and that had been my own inner reaction.
Glad to read that I wasn't the only one - Thanks
Of course it seems unthinkable that we would feel that about our very own petrichor
Oh how sweet but you haven't seen me yet  :rotfl:
    Funny thing confidence/self belief
darn right!! Defies all logic, especially to the lucky ones who don't suffer with this...Brighton bellex[/quote]

Will proceed to catch up, but Dr's appointment calls :o at 10am

  • Well, I've weighed myself and it wasn't as bad as I thought. 9st 1 1/4. I've put on 5 1/4 lbs over the summer but I was convinced it was much more than that. Target is 8 st so 15 1/4lb to lose. I want to try and lose it by Christmas. Hope everyone is well. Happy Birthday Ajax.
  • Happy birthday to Ajax and all the september peeps (seem to be a lot of them!)

I'm glad your dog got better Ajax...it's horrible when they get ill as they become part of the family...My dad had to take the decision to put our golden retriever down a few years ago and that was awful...he still feels really guilty...the general feeling was though if he wasn't bothered about getting up and slobbering all over you when you had a kitkat in hand (this dog could hear the wrapper from miles away) then his life wasn't what it should be.

I hope bailey has a lot more life in him though. try giving him a little cod-liver oil in with his food to help his joints.

... every day he has two cod liver oil tablets hidden in his food, at least one (but often two) Pedigree Joint Care chews and when he looks uncomfortable he'll have a glucosamine tablet forced down him too. It's a wonder he trusts us to feed him :)

I agree with you and your dad totally - a pet's life isn't about quantity, it's all about quality. x
  • Hmmm...Its getting a bit depressing on this thread with the doggy dramas...

I shall distract you all with talk of pumpkin things...has anyone cooked one? I roasted one last night with some other veg and it turned out to be the weirdest thing in the world with very little flavour..does anyone have a good tip for cooking them? I've mixed the roast veg in with coucsous for my lunch and smothered it with thai sweet chilli sauce but was so disappointed!

I've always wanted to have a go at cooking more squashes and it's such a lovely bright orange but quite icky...there must be a way of cooking it nicely!
