Victory - I freeze soup in sandwich bags. What I do is put an open sandwich bag inside a plastic jug, pour the soup into the bag and tie off the top then put jug and everything into the freezer until the liquid has frozen (saves messy spills all over your freezer) and take the jug out and use again (I have about 4 jugs I use for this (27p for a plastic jug in tesco).
I've also got Tesco value containers (3 for 90 odd pence) they're a square shape and hold loads for a single portion if your making double or triple to freeze for another day.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
which freezer containers do you lot have and the cheapest to buy to start with, what sizes should I buy? They will be for the soups I make and the dinners. I just normally use bags.
I didn't want to waste money and had two bags of mixed salads in the fridge that expire today so put them in the freezer and now google tells me that they will come out brown, mushy, disgusting and I should not have bothered:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: can't justify throwing them away though:D
I bought a multi pack from argos a few years ago and a locking lid pack of 5 from there recently. Have alook at their website (sorry, don't know how to do links). They are good value but of course you get a whole range of sizes and if you just need job lots of all the same size i think you'll have to buy individually. Perhaps some cheapy shop like the pound shop? As to what size: what portion sizes are you wanting to freeze? Perhaps buy a couple of cheap ones to try out? I reuse large 500ml yogurt pots to freeze soup and HM stock: that might be 2 portions worth of soup.
I've given up buying bags of salad as they always went off too soon and they ain't cheap. Yup, they'll def not survive freezing :rotfl:

Hi everyone, please can I rejoin you? I lost the plot over the summer and I know I've gained. Now the kids are back to school I really need to get back into it. I haven't had chance to read the whole thread yet, I'll have a look through this evening and weigh myself in the morning. Is it ok if I come back? I feel a bit sheepish really but I've tried to do it on my own and its not working:o0

HI Mistywoo

Brighton_belle wrote: »Good luck with the weigh in. You've done brilliantly with the exercise. I have no idea if it will show up this week or next week: always shows the following week for me. So whatever the result, keep it up and don't be disheartened becasue i thas definitely got to count in the longer term. Look forward to hearing good new from you though. Yes I think you should give your body a break at least once a week.
As for cereals for your son: I personally don't rate them as at all healthy (except for porridge or a HM mueseli)or filling so don't touch them for breakfast. Wholemeal toast is excellent fibre but you are right, not enough fuel for a lad I would have thought. How about a couple of quorn sausages, or a quorn buger with a poached egg on top? Not cheap of course if money is tight. Or scrambled eggs or beans on the toast?

Welcome back mistywoo: of course you can come back - don't struggle by yourself. Well done you for having the courage and determination to get back on the wagon. School hols are a difficult time for losing weight it seems to me, so just think, you've got them out the way for another year :j and think how much you will have lost by the time the next sunmmer hols comes round
Good luck with the weigh in. What plan/method do you follow?

well I'm only guessing terese but I think you would. I'm 5ft 6 and I've lost 18lbs and dropped a dress size. A fantastic feeling. I'm currently 11st 9 and hoping to lose another stone and would expect to drop one more dress size with that.
Exercise can help gve you a better tone and shape too which would help ( which is a case of do as I say not do as I do)
I'm sure others will chip in with their experience

Thanks Brighton Belle and Katyk for the welcome back. I was doing calorie counting so I'm going to do that again. I was 10 stone 7 lb when I started and I got down to 8 stone 10 lb. God knows what I am now though. I'll soon tell in the morning. Not looking forward to it but it's got to be done.0
