.....couldn't agree more. Slightly different here though without the red days - I didn't need a spoon on SW, "some beans" was zero, didn't matter whether it was a small tin, a proper tin or a tin and a half.0 -
Ajax - yes I always weigh or spoon my baked beans to exactly what they say I'm allowed

I used to weigh out things like cereal and then see if I had a container that held just the right amount. Thus if I knew that little plastic cup held exactly one days cornflakes when full, I could just scoop them out next tmie. Much quicker.0 -
2-3 months for decent payers on QUidco katyk. Make sure you have your payment preferences set up well in advance, your trigger amount etc.0

I don't really know for sure. I think it may have something to do with learning portion control and not relying on your scales all the time, because, let's be honest, we don't always have the scales handy. I don't have access to scales to weigh the scones at work in the morning if I want one at teatime, I have to guesstimate the points value. I thought it would be the same priniple as keeping the SW food diary for 3 weeks only, it was just so your consultant could see that you're following the plan properly and then you had to learn to live with it.
Ajax I reckon your OH should give the core plan a go. I did do it for a while when I joined WW last year and it worked quite well. It was difficult giving up bread but I coped. Oh, did you know you can also earn 12 bonus points per week on the core plan. That'd take you OH up to 32. per week.
As for soup, I use a stainless steel thermos for my work (got a 500ml one in Tesco for about £5 a year ago), I pre heat it with boiling water for about 5 minutes before I put the soup into it. I also have to admit that I put the soup in almost boiling hot. By the time I get my lunch it's still quite hot and that's about 5 hours later.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

From a WL point of view there will be folks who have said they have produced those same huge losses through eating a lot of WW plastic processed food - after all a points value is a points value and WW works, so really preparation isn't vital to weight loss.
A bit like the SW conundrum where you would think it impossible to get huge losses with a 5000 or more cals a day intake, but folks do it all the time, even when they are not huge to start with.
If only this WL malarkey made any sense huh?
I agree with you on this. If you're on a low points allowance it sometimes is easier to eat the processed foods (one of my friends only has a points allowance of 18 per day! - try that sometime it's tough). But I do think the points plan is good for all kinds of people. I don't mind taking less carbs even though I am a carb queen myself. but I do miss cheese and at 4 points for 30 grammes I'm not willing to make the sacrifice. It's just one of those things. (using the cheese example to prove I can empathise with your OH Ajax - I haven't had a proper portion of cheese in 4 weeks).
One of my workmates DOESNT EAT VEGETABLES and still lost weight on WW points plan. It's all about how you spend your points (my WW leader still tells of the member she had who just ate a mars bar and a cream finger every day and still lost weight - but that was what she wanted to eat, it was within her points allowance so it worked.) You sacrifice some things so you can eat others.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

Good idea Katyk. I'm allowed 42g 1/2 half fat cheddar every day* on SWand to save time weighing and grating everyday, I do the whole block at once and store about 5 portions ready grated in .fridge
*Sorry delly, didn't mean to rub it in: I wrote this before your post re cheese appeared
Delly, as an Sw'er I still keep a food diary for myself. Have written down every single thing I've eaten for the last 18 weeks:A . A bit too anal probably for some, but I'm quite a 'list' person anyway and I've found it's the best way for me to keep on the staright and narrow.
ntl now sort, thanks victory.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

... sounds feasible, dangerous though. If the technology is there, use it in my book.dellybelly wrote: »I thought it would be the same priniple as keeping the SW food diary for 3 weeks only, it was just so your consultant could see that you're following the plan properly and then you had to learn to live with it.
different thing, the food diary isn't the tool you use to get the syn values, it's the equivalent of the WW Points Tracker. Being told not to use the scales is like being told not to use the syn values book(s).dellybelly wrote: »Ajax I reckon your OH should give the core plan a go. ... blinking flip, what time did you wake up to have boiling soup to take to work? I dare you to tell her to be up at 5 in the morning, cos I aint gonna0 -

Yeah, but then you've got to clean the grater 6 times instead of once  .Always a chore, grater cleaning(and I use one of those handle twirling ones). That's my motivation for the block grating. It does keep fresh in small air tight containers

.... and that's at the crux of it all, you have to compromise somewhere.
While I understand your point about your 18 points friend, the reason she got that allowance is that it's her 'losing weight' allowance and is healthy for her as a lighter, more mature woman. A 15 stone man in his 30s can't do that, so the "try that sometime" isn't really fair. She's given what she needs to get through the day, same as you, same as me. That make sense? I know what I mean lol.0
