... megatron, you must have known that this was unsustainable as well as unhealthy. I'm not surprised you hit a block after that first week, the body just isn't meant to have things like that happen to it. Very fast weight loss leads to flabby skin too, which is as unsightly as the weight in some cases. I'm guessing you're male from the nick, but last time I guessed I was totally wrong, so.... are ya?? :)

Stick around here and aim for a 2 - 3 lb weight loss to start with, and then down to a pound or so as you get nearer to where you should be. It doesn't have the wow factor when you think of the numbers but it's a hell of a lot better for you.

hi Ajax and happy birthday, it's not that the changes i made were unsustainable - such as:
    - swapping the pepsi for water (must be -700 calories a day) as thats all i really drank.
    - swapping the cips for veggies.
    - curries / sweet n sour - in favour of lean chicken brest.
    - i still do the 5 miles (exercise bike) + weights every other day.
    etc.....

the crash at the start i never expected - i was aiming for 4-5 lbs loss (initially) per week. i have been honnest with myself and stuck to the healthier stuff.

    and yes i am a bloke (24)

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering if I could join in????

Admittedly, I haven't read all the pages but really need to get some weight off (not some, a lot).

I have done it before but the difference this time is being money conscious about it all.

My problem areas mainly are breakfast and lunch. I do not like milk so i find cerals are out of the question. I also tend to eat breakfast at work, so some kind of morning low fat slice (oaty) would be brilliant if anyone wants to point me in the right direction for a receipe.

    All the best

    Hi everyone, from India!:hello:

It's sweltering here which you would think could help with the weight loss, except that everything is SO sweet/salty/spicy!! There are men on the street with scales but [strike]it was never an option[/strike] I decided against the public humiliation of being the white girl on the scales :rotfl:

Having a fantastic time here - India is so dirty and smelly and full on... and I LOVE IT!! It's so great to be back again, and it feels like my expeditions are in sight again, one day. We have just seen an elephant walking down the street, they are truly awesome creatures!

Hope you are all doing well and have good things to report this week. Sorry I can't read through all the posts but I'm sending you all good vibes.

Looking forward to enjoyig the rest of my trip then starting with WL whatever we'll be by then!

    Keep smiling, big hug xx

.......bails, glad you're having a great time. Looking forward to catching up when you get back.

edit: reckon we should remind her that it's all so salty and spicy cos it's all off? :)

... hiya mate. Well to be honest if you were shocked at 18 stone on the scales I would have liked to seen your face had you seen mine - came out over 19 stone... now a much happier 14st 11 lb

By the way, I didn't mean it was the changes which were unsustainable, but the loss in a short time

As long as you are eating those healthy options all the time and not just on occasion then I can't see any reason why you are not losing it, but there are cleverer people than me on here who have a better idea with how to balance food. I can only do it when I have a plan to follow and someone to tell me what to do.

You really didn't do yourself any favours by going hell-for-leather in that first week and losing a stone. That sort of thing will shock a body. It's been used to having its over-supply, and to suddenly stop that and cut down makes it think stuff like "I dunno where the next curry or chips is coming from, I have to hold on to what I have already got stored", and that's why it's reluctant to let you shock it any more. Other than this, I can't begin to imagine why you are not losing if you have swapped the bad stuff for good, and are getting the exercise in. Maybe someone who is going it alone could step in with the correct questions? Have you been to the doc? Always good when starting a diet plan anyway, no matter how much you think "Oh I'm fine, no need to bother them".

I meant to say earlier..... don't think you have to avoid chips. Chips are good, but do them yourself. Peel a big spud or two (or whatever), chip it up, throw them in boiling water for ten minutes while you preheat an oven. After the ten minutes, drain the chips and chuck em in the oven after spraying them with Fry Light (sprayable oil). Into the oven for 30 mins. Shake/turn half way through. Done.

Even easier is to forget the peeling, and chop some spuds into wedges. Boil them the same way while you preheat an oven then after draining them you could spray them in fry light again but now sprinkle them with spices as desired. Voila!!! - ready-made spicy wedges. Again, shake/turn half way through.

Hi and welcome beccaoz... sorry, no knowledge of oaty bars here :(
  • Well I did it!! I lost 3lbs which not only takes me over my 7 stone mark but also means Ive reached that magical 100lbs mark. :j :j :j

Its 8 months and 1 day since I started WW :)

going to be reading this with interest.
started weights / cardio / better diet a few months back after the scales tipped 18st :o . lost just over a stone in a week :D
    .
    .
    .
............. then nothing for 2 months (using same clean diet + exercise) there just has to be something wrong with that.

Wow a stone in a week is impressive and a lot to live up too...

Did you keep a record when you first started like a food diary? exercise diary? if so then you could log another week and compare it to check how its changed...its also quite good to show where things may be creeping in.

You might have just reached a natural maintenance plateau and need to look more at portion sizes, upping the ante on the exercise or just mixing up the routine a bit?

Maybe its time to pick a vague eating plan to help you get off the starting block again. You could try it for a week or two and see if it makes a difference. Eliminate all the possible factors one by one.

(Ahem...obviously this is all conjecture and I have no idea as to the why's and wherefores...just a few suggestions to help :D )
