My happiest years were when I was in a relationship with a guy 15 yrs my junior....it didnt last more than 2 years...but....!!!!!! it was FAB!!
Currently in relationships with a man 5 years older than me and a secondary relationship with a man 5 years younger.....both lasting over 5 years.....a vote for variety here!! lol:A Goddess :A0 -
Each to their own.
It is relatively unusual not to have grown out of computer games by the time you're in your 40s, but if it's what she likes, then why not..
I will keep quiet as I am in my early 40's.
I do play things like ghost recon on the odd occasion. I do like a good puzzle game like professor leyton on the DS. I do have other hobbies that take up my time.
But I play my games either on my laptop or my DS. I don't have a xbox or such like for games.
Female gamers are not such a small minority any more. But I am more of a dip my toe in and out when I fancy it. That reminds I have two splinter cell games to play.

What works for some people, doesn't work for others. Pafrents have a 9 year gp, but they met when mum was 30 and step dad was 39, plus she already had me so i think tdespite the gap they wanted the same things at that point.
My most recent 2 past relationships both were 5 years younger than me, and tbh in the end it did prive to be an issue. I wanted someone who saw a future with me, as i'm not getting any younger and it boiled down to us wanting different things in life. I'm now with someone who's only about 2 years younger and we're much more compatible and want the same things. So for me bigger gaps haven't worked. However this is me being 28 and the last guy being 23, so if it had been when we were both in our 30s maybe it would have been different. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm in my 40s too. The only thing I play is 'Snakes' on my phone when I'm waiting for a train or a doctors appointment :rotfl:
Some people play games for hours and end up addicted to them. WarCrack got its nickname because of the way it takes a hold on people's lives.
I don't like that Grand Theft Auto, but that's mainly because it glamorises guns and misogyny, as I expect do other games like it.0 -

I do play games with guns in. But I think I am grown up enough to know what is real.
Mind you I have read of cases in Japan were people mainly men die from exhaustion after playing games 20 + straight hours!!!!!!
I have gone to bed late because of playing games. But only on weekends and not on work nights.

From observation, age gaps matter mostly from the outside so long as both parties are busy & happy.
That said, if a bloke falls for a 12 year old girl (even if he waits til she's 21 to propose) - well, it worked out for my grandparents but he'd be on a register these days!

Should she have given up playing computer games at some specific point, to fit in with some preconceptions about how women in their 40s are supposed to act? :eek:Each to their own.

Personally I find it odd that adults would want to play computer games but to me that isn't the main point.
If I was looking for a partner I wouldn't be compatible with someone who spent a lot of time playing games whatever their age. So, to me, it's not so much an age thing but shared interests and maturity.0 -
That's true. But is there a real difference between being a 34-year-old carer for your 44-year-old husband, and being a 44-year-old carer for your 44-year-old husband. My ex husband is 10 yrs older and than me.
And he had a stroke at 44. So I become a carer and 34. It was not something I was expecting until I was well in to my late 50's or early 60's.
You never know what life will throw at you at what ever age.
My father-in-law became a carer for my mother-in-law when he was in his mid-seventies, and the stress of it almost certainly killed him. Perhaps if there's been an age gap and he'd been younger and in better health himself he would have been able to handle it better.0 -
Are you for real? One of the biggest markets for video games is adult men. My hubby is 52 and he's an avid gamer, as are many of his friends - he particularly likes the online RPGs. I also like gaming but I'm more of a Nintendo fan. Each to their own.

I must admit, having just googled it, I'm surprised that the average age of a gamer is 30. I'd have thought it was younger than that.
The average age is also rising, because certain people (ahem) play games while they're in their teens but don't grow out of it, so those who were gaming back in the 80s may well be about 50 by now.
Not sure what video games your husband is playing, but I associate people being addicted to WarCrack and playing GTA with the immaturity of youth. If they're aged 50+ that's even sadder!0
