Have you tried making a shopping list and sticking to it?Going out without money,so that you can't be tempted?Having a weekly grocery budget,so that your budget is more spread out over the month?
I'm hoping it becomes something I continually have in the back of my mind whenever I think about spending. Even if I can cut down my spending by 10%, I'll be that little bit better off than I ever was before.
May is the month that myself and the OH will really be giving this money saving a good go. We've done a stock take and made a list of all that we need to buy for the week and will be planning on doing our food shop tomorrow morning. Quite interested in seeing what difference it'll make.
Sat down last weekend and put together a realistic budget for food which is quite a considerable reduction versus what we usually spend but seems achievable, so fingers crossed!
Also, pleased to say that we have managed 2 NSDs!Won't have one tomorrow but hoping Monday adds another day to our total
January Food Budget: £0/ £500

Well,no spends at all today, not even bananas,so that's a proper nsd for me.Today has been a pyjama day.
I had a brief flurry of palpitations when I accidentally bought a book for my Kindle (I'd meant just to get the free sampler),but I managed to delete the purchase.
It was touch and go for a while though. _pale_
I hear that Igor and Swedish Chef's Plan B song for [STRIKE]Eurosong[STRIKE][/STRIKE][/STRIKE],oops,Eurovision is a cover version of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' except the lyrics go as follows:'Chicky Chicky Bork Bork'......I'm not sure what Mr Fleming would make of it all.
As you all know,Igor's hero (and some would say alter ego) is,of course Bond,James Bond......oh dear,oh dear, where is this going to lead us?
PS sorry about the title,but I couldn't resist it.0 -

*creeps in and gives a little wave* :hello: err , anyone remember me?
sorry I dropped off the NSD planet in feb (btw I think I did reach my target that month). Had a lot going on including work stuff, but also trainings for, and running my first half marathon in March
I just needed some time off to focus on other stuff. Since the start of this year, my work situation is / will change quite significantly, which means that I am going to be in town a lot less and generally away from the shops more, which was the key reason for me staring this challenge back a loooong time ago.
I've also change my grocery habits i've noticed, esp since our local lidl opened. I rarely do a big monthly shop, but rather more frequent smaller shops, but overall my grocery bill has dropped.
So all in all, the drivers for me doing this challenge have shifted. So, I'm not not joining up but I might need to amend my rules, which might mean the challenge isn't for me any longer, BUT having some focus will still keep me from spending unnecessarily.
Anyway, if there's room I'd quite like to have a cuppa with you all, if that's ok, plus the may pole is up which only means one thing AND 1st May was UK Pole Dance Day....I'm honestly not kidding
So, can I come back please?
Ps best line from Father Ted...small....far away :rotfl:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Unfortunately, Igor just cannot get the whole Secret Service thing right. He thought the new Russian next door neighbour was a member of the JCB......One life - your life - live it!0
