Turkey was as brilliant as ever but unfortunately we got caught up in the delays caused by the terrorist bombing in Sharm and our flights were cancelled causing a three day delay, although we made the best of it.
We aren't returning to Sharm this year or next (the villa is fully booked) so I am off to Gulluk again leaving next week and then again in August.
I shall be sitting here watching the boats. Bliss-
I'm off to see whats in Gulluk via Tripadvisor! Thanks for sharing, loving your pix and I'm jealous!0 -

It does look exciting. The next stage is to meet my mate and book the flights & accommodation, probably in a few weeks.
He is very fit but I have some work to do on that front. I've been cycling and swimming for the last few months and intend to continue. I've mainly been sticking to 10-20 miles a time so will need to up my game somewhat. He will still be much quicker than me regardless of my exercise routine. Trekking up mountains in South Korea was great but he'd always been at the top for at least half an hour before I arrived, puffing and panting.
I don't pack nearly as light as I once did. When I went to Vietnam for a fortnight I only took hand luggage and whilst it was fine, I may have packed too light on that one.0 -
I like travelling much and spending much. That's the only way to get splendid impressions of what you see - that's how I used to think. However, one stay in Sweden made me change my attitude to having fun in foreign countries. Just imagine: my friends made me a surprise-party in a Plane Hotel! That was really a thing to remember: huge plane restored to be a fully-furnished tourist hotel. Since then, I get back to Sweden nearly every year and explore the other countries with such amazing places to stay! Btw, you may find that hotel in the Blogher list here Enjoy it!0

HAND LUGGAGE for a fortnight!:eek:
I've never tried but think I could do it at a push - especially in SE Asia where it's always warm, clothes are very cheap and you can get your laundry done for pennies. I last did 2 weeks in Vietnam with under 20Kg of checked luggage and a small carry-on but I could have easily cut that down. I certainly couldn't do it in Europe in the winter though.0 -

Same here, except our checked luggage is only about 12kg including the weight of the bag.
We take light easy to wash non-iron clothes, tubes of travelwash, and wash what we've had on every day. It's usually dry by the morning Never dress to impress or wear any jewellery.0 -

Hey !
Women *can* do the travel light thing too
Anywhere hot is easy -although my trip in May to Gothenburg, Chicago and Michigan will be a bit more of a challenge to stay within Ryanair limits (first flight is Ryanair -the rest has proper baggage )-but with several stops I don't want to risk any baggage issues -I've had it happen before and it's a pain waiting for the airline to deliver it/ Weather can be a bit changeable so takes a bit more creative packing to travel light !
In August I did California, Utah and Vegas for a week including dressy stuff for evenings with standard (not Ryanair sized) hand baggage with room to spare.
Whilst I was writing this post OH wandered in and asked exactly when I was going and he's on lates that week so can drop me at Stansted which saves having to get the train to London then the coach to Stansted so that's a resultI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

One of my best and most relaxing overnight airport stays was at Yotel at Gatwick . I'd flown in from Dublin (left my luggage at Gatwick left luggage before I went as it was a day trip to get an ex Euro fare) and didn't even need to leave the terminal - Next morning got up -checked in and went back to my cabin/capsule had a long leisurely shower, watched a bit of Sky news with a cuppa then strolled through security. No waiting for shuttle buses or getting up early for an airport trek. It was the most relaxing start to a trip ever (and the Dublin hop saved me hundreds on a flight to Vegas too and for me a day in Dublin was a bonus ).I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Stayed there too. A bit weird and not that cheap...
- Described as a double bed, but was only 3'6" max. So we top and tailed!
- Transparent glass between the capsule and shower/toilet.
Did the job, but will stick to North Terminal Premier Inn or Travelodge Central.0
