Eeeerrrmmmmm Saza OMG at the WT! :T:T Soooo many questions:

    How long for?
    What is your route?
    Details, Details, Details, PLEASE

    Yes very excited!!

How long - not sure, I'm under 30 so going to do a working hol via in NZ (I've already done my Oz one 5 years ago) So its how ever long the money lasts :D

Route - India for 3 months, I'm hoping to be selected for a volunteer project its expensive but it just seems right, right timing, location etc, then Thailand (either north Thailand or south), Cambodia, Poss Venetian (not too sure atm), If I don't volunteer in India then Japan, back to Thailand to do the other side.
Bali and Maylasia are possibilities depending on funds.... :A

3 months in oz, I have friends in Perth so go and see them and a bit of western Oz then (these are Wish list ;)) Darwin, Red Centre, I worked at Ayers Rock resort when I was there but would love to go as a tourist!! then to do the east coast properly!!

Into NZ find a job for a bit then travel around the islands.

I haven't really got a plan coming back, I'm going to leave enough money with my parents for a flight back if I run out of money.

Looking at possible flights, the best to match my list seems to be Emirates multi-stop: London-Mumbai-Bangkok-Sydney-Auckland for around £1000. But looking though momondo.co.uk (Brilliant site) at single flights.

So I have a budget of around £9000 from saving and selling my beloved car.

Just going to go with the flow and see where it takes me!!

    xx
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada

Bali spirit hotel in Ubud , Prama Sanur beach hotel in Sanur and Melia Bali in Nusa Dua , and Finally , Metropark Causeway Bay in Hong Kong

    You'll love Sanur and Ubud.

Be very wary of dodgy money changers in Sanur. Check and double check before you leave the counter, and if the ROE looks too good then the chances are you'll be a potential victim. There are several 'baddies' close to Hardy's Supermarket.

If places like Kuta and Legian are on your radar, then I'd give them a miss.

You've had way to many holidays as it is!?!?!?!:cool:

I picked up an old LP guide on Vietnam the other day, and my Achilles Heel was struck.
So got the whole of September in Vietnam.

When do you go , Duke ?

    June :D

I know exactly what clothes (is this just a woman thing?) I'm taking, & I'm sick to death of my lists now :o So now I do a thrice daily check of the reviews on my hotels on TripAdvisor. I'm still sifting through the Things to Do in Ubud on TripAdvisor, although I've got a driver lined up for faraway trips.

So how does everyone else go about booking their holz?

I love how you've spaced them out. As others have said I think the trick is to go on little trips often, still not 100% on that but I'm up for the OFTEN part!

How was the shopping in Liverpool as opposed to where you live?

    littlereddevil
New Orleans......how I'd love to visit! I missed out on an all expense paid trip to NO years ago, gutted! It's now going back onto my list.

    How hot is Texas?

Do keep us posted as you move along, start a thread and post regularly I'd love to read it.

    When do you leave?

    PompeyPete
Out of curiosity why don't you list your trips this year alone? It would be Interesting to read and drool over! Are you retired? I want to retire and travel like you!
Picked up a copy of LP as in a hard copy
or a link, if link do share? I will be asking you for advice on my Vietnam trip when I get around to doing it, can't wait to visit. I skim read your thread, will go look at it and comment on there.

On a countdown (only 33 days to go!) for:
4 days in Dorset early June, mostly walking the South Dorset Ridgeway, communing with the ancestors. (Loads of ancient sites).

Staying at home most of the summer:
Several local music festivals; classical and LatinAmerican, so friends are coming on holiday TO ME!

    Autumn:
    To friends in Catalonia.
(I hope! Haven't told them yet! But this Wales-Catalonia exchange has been happily going on for about 15 years now; every few years I go there, or they come here!)

    2016
Maybe I will finally get to carry out The Plan.
Friends in Boston, Montana forests and near Seattle.
Family history contacts on Martha's Vineyard, Mass.
So a 10-week U.S. trip, coast to coast, on public transport, mostly the 'Empire Builder' rail line: Chicago via Whitefish to Seattle. Plus Greyhounds.

And probably without flying, going out on the Queen Mary. Not attracted to cruising per se, but as a means of transport ... to get a sense of the scale of the Atlantic. (And enjoy a bit of pampering!)

My first Mega-Travelling since 10 weeks in South America in 1990.
Full-time work most of my life. Now semi-retired.
Need to make this happen before sight problems worsen ....

    Yes, I'll do it!

    ETA: P.S.
    (1) Yes, always DIY. Love the planning, looking up Amtrak routes and times ... ...
    (2) Some of my network of worldwide friends are as a result of hosting and travelling with Servas. http://www.servas.org/ (That's the international website; the UK one seems screwed up tonight).
Most people you meet you'll never see again, but some become lifelong friends.

You need a Visa (US$35) to get into Indonesia. It's easy to get on arrival at Bali Airport, and they take £sterling. But you'll get stung on the exchange rate, so it's best to pay in US$. Here's a v.useful up-to-date thread from Trip Advisor about Arrival/Departure/Passports...

    http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g294226-i7220-k8411864-VOA_Immigration_Customs_Departure_Tax-Bali.html

Don't forget the Departure Tax (200,000 rupiah, about £10) payable at the airport on departure.
