Your Staycation is really interesting, Loves It!
The Queen Mary as a means of Transport, I love it even more! WOW! I'm doing a similar trip to the grand USA August 2016 for originally 30 days, now at 35 days. August is the only time I can travel due to youngest still being in full time education and I do not want to wait any longer to do it as I think it will be soooo much FUN and educational for us all.
Keep us posted.Jackie Have just booked flights to Boston for a 6 night trip in August

Exciting! What are you planning on doing in Boston?
Is there a reason you opted for Aug which is school holidays = more expensive if you're a solo traveller?0 -

Whale watching is high on my list of priorities and considering maybe doing one or two day trips outside of Boston. Is there a reason you opted for Aug which is school holidays = more expensive if you're a solo traveller?
However, got a Reward Flight with VA Flying Club so have only paid taxes/fees, fully flexible ticket, flying PE both ways for £382! :j2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

DUKE
I'm female and I never know what I'm taking until I'm packing, usually the night before...... so I'm curious to know how in heavens name you already know what you're packing for JUNE?????? Do you have a "holiday outfit list"?
I'm giggling at WHAT LISTS?????
I have a spreadsheet for planning my trips and I copy and paste useful links etc. under excursions column, never a list?[/QUOTE]
Oh MasterPoo, I love your name, but must admit I thought you were a man, sorry
I can barely breathe thinking of you not packing until the night before your hol! Although I no longer do it I used to do a mock pack at least 6 months beforehand, anyone else? It was a pack, an unpack, a repack ... I've since improved from packing a month before to a week before.
There's certain clothes that I wear on holiday, like shorts that I'd never wear at home, & long summer floaty dresses that barely get worn here, also new stuff that I buy ready.
I must start & do spreadsheets as it'll be so much easier I think. Although I enjoy doing lists of clothes to take, lists of what I'll wear on what day, lists of stuff to do, lists of really important stuff in case phones, passports, iPad goes missing ....

A MOCK PACK......dying with laughter!DUKE
Although I enjoy doing lists of clothes to take, lists of what I'll wear on what day ,
Do you actually stick to your lists though?
I might be laughing at you, but I suspect you do not over pack like I do, and you probably also end up wearing EVERYTHING in your bag? I came back with items that I didn't wear, instead we did laundry twice whilst away.
An invaluable lesson that I learnt on our last trip, is to pack for my 20 year old son. He came away on an 18 day holiday with 8 t-shirts! OMG, I almost killed him, WHO DOES THAT?????!!!! I refused to buy him others because I know he has cupboards full of t-shirts. So from now on I will be inspecting his bag before we go on holiday which just adds to the drama!0 -
I've just seen that BA has a Sale on.......I'm going to have a look to see if I can grab myself a bargain for my solo trip?
Will report back before the sale ends. EXCITED!!!0 -
I assume you want to go for more than 6 weeks to Oz?
Have you approached HR about this? Career break or unpaid leave, have your broached the subject with them? I once worked for an organisation like that years ago, REALLY !!!!ed me off that I couldn't go on holiday for longer than 2 weeks!
[STRIKE]You could lie and go on sick leave for duration of holiday?? Set Facebook to private or remove yourself off social media etc....... Can you tell I;ve thought about this[/STRIKE]:cool::cool:
Disclaimer: I'm in no way shape of form telling you to lie to your work to go on an amazing holiday!
I ended up asking my main manager as she had to pop round yesterday and thought I may as well ask and she said it shouldn't be a problem but put it in in plenty of time (I'm going to do it when I get to 13 stone 6lbs as it keeps me on task while giving me something to look forwards to):T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:
