Holiday Withdrawal Symptoms......Tell me where you're going?

This year, we're going to Holiday Village in Egypt. Possibly our most expensive holiday to date, since it is AI and we had to pay for two connecting rooms (there are 5 of us).
Hotel gets excellent reviews, so not too worried about quality of hotel (you're always a little worried about cleanliness, facilities, availability of sun loungers etc.etc..)
AM a little worried about the expected extreme heat. We usually do Med/Canary Islands, where it is always hot, but not necessarily scorching. Am expecting Egypt to be VERY hot.
Not too bothered for myself (I have olive skin anyway, so rarely burn), but AM worried for my fair-skinned wife, and 3 kids ('cos they're kids and don't think about being burned, only about having fun). Am hoping that if we stay in enough shade, avoid hottest times of day, plenty of Sun Block, and lots of water, we should all be ok.
Any other advice from anyone else that has been there? There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't!0 -
I went to Egypt in Feb, Just returned from Tunisia & the next holiday to Turkey isn't until October at this moment in time i have major holiday blues
So booked a long weekend to Copenhagen for July
don9999 is it Coral Sea Holiday Village? I recently went to Coral Sea Aqua Club just over the road from HV & had a fabulous time, it was spotless, Food Lovely & the staff very nice & friendly Im sure you will have a great time2011 Wins £3512 2012 Wins £1531
2013 Wins £2946 2014 Wins £1374
2015 Wins £2800 So Far!0 -
Why does everyone book so far in advance? I find that once I've booked I can't wait to go, & if it's too far in advance I lose the will to live. Plus I love to research places & get all excited over it, but again once booked I get a sort of flat feeling
I found Maui to be OK, we took a bus ride to Lahaina which was quite nice. We flew to the Big Island for the day just to see the volcano, so glad we didn't stay there as it was cold & wet! But then I've not been anywhere else in Hawaii to compare. I won the trip from off here
Bali for me next, staying in Sanur for 4 nights & Ubud for 10 :j
No matter what people talk about I manage to turn it around to discuss holz, he goes mad at me :-(

YAAAY to sneaking in extra holidays!:T:T
Did you stay in hotels or rent a villa/apartment? We need to be based where my boys can enjoy motorised watersports and where there is lots to do. Someone commented that Maui is dead so avoiding that. I want to see volcano, relax, hike, and enjoy watersports, which would you recommend?

janiebaby, I was looking at Bali Spirit too! Although I originally fancied Hotel Tjampuhan, but it took me so long to decide that it was fully booked by the time I was ready. Also I looked at Puri Bunga as I wanted those views, but not all the steps  I decided against it as I was afraid it was going to be a minga. So I cheated a bit & ditched the Bali charm & booked Nesa Senur, & Ubud Wana.0 -

Your August Bank holiday, sounds like fun.....NOT!
Trixie I'll be in the middle of the bush in SA (on safari for 3 nights over NY) first time I'll be away over Christmas and NY in forever! If it's any comfort I feel your pain
Which reserve are you going to for your safari? December will be hot down there!0 -

SNAP! I've yet to book my flights, but that's the date we need to leave by, which airline will you be flying? We are going to SA too!
Just spotted this.
We're flying Kenyan airways from amsterdam.
I've always wanted to go to Amsterdam and the tickets were £150pp cheaper by going AMS - Joburg. Avios reward flights booked to amsterdam for £35pp and with 4 of us flying, it's worth it to us plus I get to spend a few hours in the city dragging the kids and OH behind me
Spending 7 days with our friends in Clarens, then safari booked for NY. Excited, but not sure what to expect as Africa has never been on a "must see" list for me.
