I wouldn't mind, but I have a post office account and I'm also an appointee to collect my elderly relative's pension for him. I had to submit untold documents to the PO for that one. Can't see any reason why they are unable to verify me!

Just seems like a poor system to me.
We have everything they asked for but still no luck with either of us.
Seems like it's an inadequate system if so many people are failing the check.

I sent my paper renewal in a few weeks ago, today received a letter from compliance re my son and college/Fe, have to have letters for two years proving he is on a full time college course. is this likely just a standard spot check, or could it be more. i am worried because my son is on a full time college course, college are writing letter, but he struggles with attendance due to ill health. college say as far as they are concerned he is full time, but unsure if his average attendance , at least last few months, will work out at over 12 hrs a week, he goes in when he can but often off sick. it is his intention to be full time. and he sometime achieves a full week. he is also on high rate DLA and has recognized disabilities.

Try not to worry, the fact he goes and is registered as going is fine.

They must be doing a lot of spot checks this year.

Ive seen people spot checked for lots of reasons.

Mine is childcare and this is not the first time.

Send what you can and chase after to see how they are getting on.

I think I renewed online last night? I didn't think I would be able to as don't have a valid passport or driving license but when I clicked through I could either renew by giving passport/driving license details or there was another way on gov.uk (this might be wrong). I only had to enter the number on my renewal letter and the last 4 didgits of my bank account number. Does this seem right, it said I will hear in 8 weeks?

    Seems right to me.
If you got the 8 week message it sounds as though you completed it ok.

After seeing this I filled out an online request form at my sons college for a letter to prove he has attended the last two years.
Thought I better be prepared lol

    Hi everyone,

I've been perusing the Tax credit renewal threads for some weeks now and I feel like the time has come for me to post....

Right, firstly I renewed my claim on the 30/04/15.... Was told to wait up to 10 weeks for further checks bit it should be completed by then. Was also told not to call back until 09/07.

I called back approx a week later to change my bank details only to be told that they couldn't deal with my request, to call another number.

I called the number and it was concentrix. Was informed a letter was bring sent but the systems were down but it was just about childcare.

I seemed to be confused so I called back. ( I love to make sure I'm completely clear by ALL parties ). They gave me the address to send the required info to. Just a childcare statement with payments etc. I've got all that, I got it all the same day. Still no letter from them. I asked them if this would have an impact on my renewal, they said NO.

I decided to call the main HMRC number to clarify and that is indeed true. My renewal has been completed and concentrix won't be dealing with that as it's done.

I've called 3 times since to check this as upon reading these threads it seems renewals have been taking longer if a check is being done.

My opinion of it now is this...... I am still baffled! I know I sound crazy but all these posts saying it's delayed because of awaiting paperwork/evidence is just confusing with what the HMRC are saying.

I even spoke to a chap tonight, the systems are down ( again) but I mentioned my muddled thoughts and he said it will have no impact on my renewal if it's already been completed. The award for 15/16 is nothing to do with 14/15. If an underpayment or an overpayment has been made this will be based on 14/15 information, NOT 15/16 information.
( I know this nay not make sense but in my mind it does )

The north west are having spot checks, he told me that much.

So all renewals done before you got the concentrix letter will be fine as long as you have been honest. I'm sure the main Tax credit office will do their checks but concentrix only deal with random checks and renewals that they request.

Sorry this post is hap hazard and full if typos but I can't master typing as fast as I speak.

    :)
  • Hi
I'm in the same position as you.
Being dealt with only by concentrix, however I did my renewal but it won't be processed till they finalise 2014-2015 which is once they've done the compliance check on childcare.
My letter only turned up last wed dated 20tj April! I sent it special delivery yesterday and will ring next week to follow up.

    Hope that helps
  • Oh and concentrix are not at random I've been told that they pick high risk claims and they probably already ring your childcare provider to see if your child goes. They normally only ask for paperwork and evidence if they believe it to be incorrect.

Mine is slightly out on figures cause I estimate school holidays but children didn't go for two weeks and another time I used a different one as the other was full!
So I've sent what I've got and shown how I estimate and why my figures are slightly out. Few years ago I had the same with the tax compliance I was made to pay it back 25% of my award for 12 months
