I have been waiting 9 weeks since renewal - I have had no letters or contact. I was thinking about ringing them but I am not expecting the award to change as my income has not changed and hubbys has gone down slightly (but he has filed and completed his tax return in May) so I doubt there is anything much to question. I suppose its just volume of renewals. :(
    Total 2019: £3972 - Best win this year £3000
    2018 total £4062/2017 total £2260/ 2016 total £2025/ 2015 total £3809.

    Hi Zagfles

Posting an update on OH's company pension confusion.

    I am still confused.

Had a Yearly statement from Standard Life, it says:

    Payment breakdown

13 Feb 15 £118.52 (before Tax relief) £29.63 (Tax Relief)
    13 Mar 15 £130.38 £32.60
    15 Apr 15 £130.38 £32.60
    15 May 15 £120.74 £30.19

    Total £500.02 £125.02

    Employer payments: £455.86
    £501.45
    £501.45
    £464.40

Have an e-mail for someone in Payroll so going to e-mail them later to see if they can explain what is going on with it.

Thanks for all your help before, it was much appreciated.

There's no need to email HR. It's as I said before - they are taking his pension contributions after tax, and Standard Life are claiming the tax relief.

This means that you can deduct his gross pension payments from the income you declare to tax credits. Your statement from Standard Life is proof his contributions are taken after tax, because otherwise they wouldn't give any tax relief.

The amount to deduct is the total of his contributions plus the tax relief. But do not include the employer's contributions, these should be ignored for the purposes of tax credits.

There's one thing I'm not sure of - from your earlier post the payment made on 15 Apr has come from the March payslip. I'm not sure whether this should count in the 2014/15 or 2015/16 tax year. The payment was taken in March but not paid into the pension till April.

Maybe BB or IQ know the answer?
  • Hi I wonder if anyone can give me any advice. We have done our renewal online and got back an estimated award notice for last year which showed they owed us a backpayment. It said on the notice that they were waiting for more information from us and to provide this by 31/07/2015 but didn't tell us what they wanted. I have phoned numerous times and each time have been told that they have all the info needed. Finally last week I spoke to a helpful lady who also said we didn't need to provide anything and then spoke with a senior officer. She said that the reason it has done this as around the time of renewal we also advised them of my 2 stepchildren moving in with us which changed this years payments and that stalled last years she has said that it should all be finalised by 15th august. Does this sound feasible??
  • No it said final estimate. The lady I spoke to sounded confused as well and said it had just got 'stuck in the system!' Each time I have phoned everyone has said it is all complete and no reason for it being an estimate!! Frustrating!!!
  • After phoning hmrc for about a Dozen times, i have Been told today that my case is with concentrix.so i rung them and the guy said"this case should have never Been opened-case closed" so he closed the case and told me to ring hmrc in about 48h.

I hope that my renewal will be finalized now!:)

Finally heard back from Concentrix, case is closed and got my final award from tax credits, slight reduction but no overpayment.
