My letter was dated 20th April and arrived last Wednesday so took 3-4 weeks in the post

    24 days to arrive !

How many days do they give you to return the info needed ?

The reason why the concentrix letters are delayed is that the systems went down at the end of April for a day or two. All letters that were. Want to be printed and sent were not. They only got sent about a week after even though the date remains the same as the original on the letter. The systems went down yesterday as well.

I've sent mine recorded and asked the man today to take my recorded tracking number down and put in my notes. I would rather its there just in case they say they haven't got it or I didn't send in time.

When you started getting the 25% deducted due to overpayment, did they notify you first or did it happen automatically?

Blondebubbles need some help, i earned for 2014/2015 was £20,100 due to overtime and my earninings for2015/2016 will be £17,800 I have two children and childcare. My tax credit payments have gone down a lot. It just covers my childcare. What should I be getting a week thanks
  • UPDATE
i just rang the number i was given yesterday by the tax credit helpline, the person i spoke to was quite sharp in her tone and said that i shouldnt have been given that number. she also said she didnt see how i was told letter was sent end of april as the helpline cant see that info. i believe mine is tax credit compliance as she said HMRC.

anyway they want proof of my 17 year old 6th form from september 2013 to present day.
they also want proof of my other child who left further education in july 2014 and is now at university. they want this information from 1st september 2014 so they want proof of his last year at college but not his first. can see this is going to be fun trying to get the info as he has been left a year. i have always updated tax credit as soon as any changes occur.

I wouldn't be surprised if everyone with children at college will be checked.
Going to put a strain on college resources.
My oldest son went for six weeks in 2013.I informed them when he finished but might be hassle getting the letter from the college if they ask for proof he was there for that short time.
  • Seems like the checks are for further education very hard to prove when they have already left . They did check mine in 2013 when son was starting his 2nd year and youngest was starting . Oh well hopefully school and college will be able to send the i formation to me. Lady this morning did say that colleges etc are aware that HMRC are asking for this information . So maybe they inform all the further education places prior to sending out letters .
  • Seems that HMRC themselves are doing checks and HMRC have employed concentrix to do checks also.

Not just checks on college children but self employment checks childcare checks and single claim checks.

Lesson to everyone keep everything obtain all paperwork ready for renewal time each year.

When I rang concentrix he said they are very busy and a few days behind scanning paperwork.
  • Maybe they will ask me for proof of my single claim. As im a single parent . Maybe they will just check me on further education.

Just phoned tax credits to make sure my renewal went through ok, very nice man said it had all been accepted and I didn't have to send anything in and should be all sorted within a couple of weeks.

Am breathing a sigh of relief that there is no investigation as yet, if at all. Really scary stories about renewal around the internet and even though I have nothing to hide I was worried about that red line. I couldn't manage with a check, though don't know what they would check as no childcare, no self-employed, no partner. My mental health wouldn't cope with it.

Hope everybody elses gets sorted very soon and thanks for the advice.

I hate replying on tax credits, if ex-partner paid me something I wouldn't need to claim for me and my children. Wish I could just afford to claim child tax credits and not working ones.
