Folk saying they have their house up for sale but will only sell if they have found the right house for themselves ...... not sure how much time you are expecting to be given but dont think many buyers would be prepared to wait more than a couple weeks.

If you sell you could move into rented accommodation and then you have no chain on your side when it comes to purchasing?

It's an option to move to rented but given additional cost and hassle to do so I'm not sure I'd bother.

We certainly won't be moving unless we find the ideal home and there's no way I'd ever be pushed in to buying something I don't really want because my buyers are in a rush.

That's IMHO an unrealistic expectation to have. It can take a 2-3 weeks to complete any potential viewings and make your own enquiries before putting in any offers!

Moving into rented is not always the best, or even sensible. Take me, having 2 young children, the logistics of doing it would be a nightmare. In addition, the housing market moves all the time. Selling my asset to move into rented may cost more than just the rent per month if house prices increase.

People need to understand that buying and selling houses takes time. FTB's are the worst for it as they have not been through the process before and a lot will have limited research. Look at the number of threads on here which asks "how long will it take"....!

Of course it is whatever works out best for you. The point I wanted to make was that your buyer might not be willing to wait for you to find your ideal home.

We have moved into rented accommodation....with 2 toddlers...

    Hey everyone

Can u join you all. House went on market Saturday. Had one viewing Saturday afternoon. Ftb moving down from London. Feedback from estate agent this morning was that they loved the house layout and thought it was presented and decorated beautifully. But they weren't keen on the parking as they could couldnt park outside the house and as it was the first house they viewed they wouldn't make an offer which is fair enough.

The parking thing we can't change as the whole town is permits so any house in the area will be the same.

Now we are waiting for the photos to be taken by the professional photographer so it can go up on rightmove and hopefully get some more viewings booked in on Saturday!

We are selling chain free as moving into rented whilst er wait for a new build. The new build we want won't be released for reservation for a few months so we have a bit of time to get in an exchange position.

We have had feedback from our 3 viewers from the weekend. 2 of them didn't like the parking situation (it is across a green area so not directly in front of the house) and the other was a no-show as they had found somewhere else.

Well on-wards and upwards- there is nothing I can do about the parking unfortunately. We will give it a month and take it off the market and remortgage I think (we need the money for maternity leave!)

    Also waiting.

On market a month. Two viewers.

One garage too small, one garden too small.

Feedback finally received, mixed response however...

The 1st time viewers seem to love the place and want a 2nd viewing next weekend with parents...

The 2nd time viewers dad put a downer, suggesting the house is too small and they should carry on looking. Seems as though the GF has her heart set on the place though but is to have a 'long conversation' with her other half and get back to us later this week.

My only concern here, if there is an offer from them and start to move forward, what's to say the dad wont persuade them to pull out further down the line (seen it happen a few times!)... I know this could happen with anybody that offers on our house, but if we get an offer in the week, then how can I delay a reply until the weekend when the others have had a chances who's parents are happy?! ARGH!
