Virgin sim only 6 month cashback offer. Having problems?

I had an E2 Save supplied phone a year ago and their cashback offer was a nightmare, in line with what other people have found.
So this year I switched to Cool New Mobile, who appear to be no better in that their cashback terms are equally ambiguous.
As other posters have said, in my view these are just scams to get you to sign up for their contracts when they have no intention of paying you the cashback.
Thankfully, I recently saw an article on the BBC website implying that the OFT, or similar regulator, was looking into these companies to establish whether or not they were treating customers fairly. Of course, there is no guarantee anything will come of that either...:rotfl:
In summary, I am unlikely to be going for one of these deals again - it's just too much aggro.0 -
My hopefully not a problem, but not too confident:
Sent in as per instruction, my 3rd bill noticication. This was sent back saying that it was not the required bill - too early. I called the help number and was told that it was actually teh correct one and to fax it back to them which I did. Still awaiting a cheque.

Looking at my own virgin 12 month deal I purchased via phonespot/e2save which required bills at month 6,8,10 and 12. The cashback leaflet here:
http://www.e2save.com/popups/Chequebackform.pdf has a table that you enter the months 1 to 12. The first being the month of purchase (as many people have been pointing out) and then the following months afterwards.
Following this it appears in my case (purchased March, 1st bill in April) they will want the 5th physical bill (August) and not the 6th (September) like I was thinking. Fortunately for me the 5th is due to arrive anytime but I have to say its extremely confusing and had it not been for this thread I would have possibily been in the same situation.ummm...0 -
I didn't use the 0871 number.
At the bottom of my rejection letter there are two numbers to call so I used the 0845 number as follows 0845 65512460 -
I understand all previous correspondence relates to Virgin sim only offer. However, I have just signed up for O2 12 months (pay for only one month, eleven months free) which is done through a cash-back scheme. Thought I had read everything thoroughly and understood. However, my initial caution has now returned, having read all the messages posted on your site. Thanks to all for the warnings and solutions. I will get in touch with E2 to see exactly which bill they will be requiring from me ............... However, if Eleanor can check on my behalf, it may well save some initial hassle for both parties! I signed up on 7 August 2007 - my deal included a phone (LG Chocolate (yum!) 12 month contract, 11 months free - coming to £3 a month. Also .... do I have to pay VAT?:o0

You will be paying VAT on your phone bill.0

did you have to send them another copy of your bill?i was told that i had to and it can not be sorted till i get them the bill, although they did admit that they were wrong.
also the man told me that even though the system says to send september,DONT and send OCT?????? wheres the sense.which one is the right month???
The person I spoke to didn't ask for another bill. She just blamed the "system" and told me my money was on it's way. As for the next installment, I shudder to think what will happen then. I'll wait and see.0 -
Don't use e2save! I had an O2 deal with them. I had to fight to get 3rd cashback and never did get final one despite writing twice to Carphone Warehouse boss. Mind you all other companies I have used are just as bad. They deliberately mislead and actually lie at times. I rckon I have spent more on phone calls than the cashback is worth.
There should be a massive campaign against these companies. Martin, are you up for it!?0 -
OK - now I want to get out of this. The phone we received was blocked. We have been told to return it for replacement. My daughter began using sim yesterday in her old phone. CanI use the 7-day return at beginning of contract if I return phone AND sim card?? We must ensure many, many people become aware of this dishonourable behviour.0
