I see 100+ spam threads over the boards this morning.

Whatever the 'measures' put in place were, they have failed.

Being an English language forum, a filter to block all non-Latin text would work well?

after MSE TOWERS half hearted new look and it's non existent SPAM controls I wonder if the Forum part of the site will soon be shut down ?

As we've mentioned before, we have measures in place to block spam before it reaches the forum and there are more in the pipeline. For obvious reasons, though, we can't say what those are on here.

If you can all be patient, though, you'll hopefully reach a point soon where you realise you haven't seen much spam for a while (fingers crossed!)

Oh I doubt they'd ever do that. I mean they'd actually have to find their own deals/news/information to crow about then instead of pinching the deals/info forum members post and taking the credit. The forum members are an endless supply of information so they don't have to do any work themselves.

But I agree that between the spammers and the hideous unusable 'new look' they are doing their best to drive people away.

Search engine ranking for whatever site or thing it is, for people in those foreign countries when they web search. MSE is high profile so it bumps those rankings no matter where or what language.
