I see 100+ spam threads over the boards this morning.

6 on this section and i am totally fed up reporting them .0

Being an English language forum, a filter to block all non-Latin text would work well?0

Once again I have to say - they're not working! At all.
I have reported endless spammers of many different topics this morning as they are posting their rubbish all over the boards, and I have to do this multiple times on a daily basis so clearly none of your "measures" are stopping them whatever you say.
People are becoming tired of reporting because nothing seems to be done to stop further incidents and it is driving people away from the forum because the endless spam posts all across the boards is a ridiculous situation.
You surely must have the people, the technology and the skills to stop this? (other forums I visit have managed it so it's obviously possible) There seems to be no will or desire to do it though
after MSE TOWERS half hearted new look and it's non existent SPAM controls I wonder if the Forum part of the site will soon be shut down ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Well folks ... you will be pleased to know that I am unable to post the 2nd page of my hijackthis log in the techie section.

As we've mentioned before, we have measures in place to block spam before it reaches the forum and there are more in the pipeline. For obvious reasons, though, we can't say what those are on here.
If you can all be patient, though, you'll hopefully reach a point soon where you realise you haven't seen much spam for a while (fingers crossed!)
Thanks!
We don't seem to be at that point just yet:(Early retired - 18th December 2014

So what do they actually get out of posting this stuff, especially in hieroglyphics?0

and another one has just registered
This is the one I saw registering earlier, obviously it takes a human to do the registration and get the bot setup ready to run.0 -

Oh I doubt they'd ever do that. I mean they'd actually have to find their own deals/news/information to crow about then instead of pinching the deals/info forum members post and taking the credit. The forum members are an endless supply of information so they don't have to do any work themselves.
But I agree that between the spammers and the hideous unusable 'new look' they are doing their best to drive people away.0 -

Search engine ranking for whatever site or thing it is, for people in those foreign countries when they web search. MSE is high profile so it bumps those rankings no matter where or what language.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
