Thanks for the welcome back this morning, ive had a really good day after feeling totally down in the dumps this morning.
Today i have done my snowball calculator , expecting to see the year 3030, but my dfd is actually 20 months time if all goes to plan! Imagine how amazing that would be?! I also have some shares due in Dec, which at the monent should be around 3k which would obviously reduce the debt even more.
I've got a confession.... I had £1000 saved in an account for emergencies, i know its naughty when youve got debts, but i liked it. Well anyway, today i paid off my overfraft with it totally and £175 towards my n3xt account (new washing machine in Dec)
I feel better for it :) and still have the money in the over draft if i did have that emergency!

Happy st David day all x
Still here..... but working on that!

    NSD 1 in the bag.

Plenty more decluttering done. Fmess, I'm reading the Kon Marie thread - am about post 960 and not even halfway through - but am loving it! Along with the Not Buying It one, and the Make do, Mend and Minimize one. I have to limit my screen time!

Finished 3 bunnies, 2 more need their bottoms sewing, and 3 more are cut out and ironed.

A day of no sugar and no grains - aa good sstart to March!

Hi Fmess, wasn't me but can recommend Marie Kondo's book (also referred to as KonMari Method) - think it's the Art of Tidying but don't want to risk losing this post to check my Kindle app!

I have done my clothes, accessories, toiletries, books, DVDs, paperwork and several drawers of carp so far, resulting in 7 bags to CS, two large boxes of books to jumble sale, three boxes to various selling sites and quite a lot of recycling and rubbish.

Clothes organised and easy to find now, and feel much "lighter" already - and still have a bit to go, including photos and personal items.

She's a bit kooky, and has some unusual ideas, not all of which I've embraced (haven't thanked my socks....) but her general premise is really helpful and has enabled me to finally ditch lots of stuff that I don't need. There's a thread on these forums and lots on youtube about it if you want to know more.

Thank you both! That was the one I'd heard about, Kon Marie. I'm going to get reading :) I too am after the lighter feeling of having less clutter :) Thank you again.

    Helloooooo Turtles!

NST No. 23 here and ready to March! Sub 13k on the debt, which feels good - we threw most of my salary at it last month, may be a bit less this month as not sure of some of the costs, but I'd like it to be as much as we can.

So, budgets. I need to improve on last month, particularly with the groceries - have set it at 150, as OH will be working away some days and we are going to stay at my Aunt for the weekend later in the month, so fewer days needing meals for two must equal less of a grocery spend! I sneakily did a shop yesterday out of the March budget, so Sunday was a SFD. Have massively stocked up on EVERYTHING so am going to be strict and eat from cupboards and only allow veg/milk/bread top ups for the rest of the month.

I'm not quite sure about the petrol spend as OH starts his new job today, it is 25 miles away so there will be an increase there but he will also be working away quite a bit when he can claim back travel - will have to wait and see. This is also a heavy month for birthdays - a tricky subject as OH is very generous, and always buys his parents a large present as well as taking them out for a meal - we can't really afford this at present but he wants to do it, and it is FIL's birthday this week. So there will be a meal out before the 26th (sorry Thrifty), but nothing else planned. Aiming for 15 SFDs, and looking forward to starting on some decluttering. Onwards and Upwards!

Caraeugirl - lovely to 'see' you again, great news on the teaching place.

Welcome back littleskintdragon - 20 months for a DFD is sounding good!

Samizel - sorry to hear about repairs needed, hoping it's not too much to spend. Such a stress - there's always something, isn't there, just when you think everything is going well.

Lilt - hope Jelly is feeling better

Have a good Monday everyone - sun is creeping out here, nice to see after all the rain.

    Doh, work meeting is tomorrow.

lilt well done on putting so much money into the savings.

welshkitty those little spends take time to erradicate. What is it in your case, milk run out, bread. I now manage usually 4 or 5 SFDs during the week as I buy enough milk to last and have emergncy bread in the freezer. Also adopted the mind set of if I dont have it, tough, make do with sth else.

wellcome back littleskintdragon March is a good month to start over again because it is the start of spring and the better weather and sunshine definitely helps me to stay happy and focused.

Well done on the decluttering front Caeraugirl, traveller and pippy1971

Caeraugirl congratulations on securing the primary teaching course and good luck with getting the finances sorted

Hope you have your hot water back soon Samiszel and it doesn't cost and arm and a leg. Good luck also with sorting out the issues with the freeholder

the only girl This is a sensible budget for your first month. Better be realistic at first. But I can assure you after a couple of months with us that food and HH budget will come down even with three hungry hippos :)

MagicCat that's why i never put any restrictions on social outings as long as they are budgeted for and affordable. Some are just impossible to ignore or to do on the very cheap like big birthdays etc. I put a limit on lazy take aways at home though.

I had a spend day both weekend days. Sat went and got our last pizza (supermarket) before the no take away rule kicks in and yesterday did a Aldee shop. I will update my signature later.

Friday night I started my declutter mission and did the cabinet under the sink and the kids crockery. Got rid of a broken breadmaker, old dust clothes, old cleaning products, a manual juicer, old bibs and baby bottles. Last Friday I also passed our Jumperoo on to a work colleague and gave a swivel cot back to my cousin. So at least that is going well.

Sorry for the epic post. I will check in and catch up much better now that I'm back at work.

    Have a good day.

EDIT already spent 116 of my grocery budget but should have enough staples for this week and meat for next week.

    Morning everyone.

My first proper go at this challenge so here goes.

    SFD 0/15
    GROCERIES/CLEANING/PETS £71.91/100 - monthly shop done.
    PETROL £64.39/70
    GAS/ELECTRIC £80/80
MISC £20 FOR SCHOOL FEES AND LUNCHES. Yet to be paid.
    DEBT REPAYMENT £271/309
SAVINGS £15/500 - I have no emergency fund and need to get one together as well as pay off the debt.
    ME TIME 15 MINS 0/31

I'm currently having a massive declutter which has been going on for months now. I want to get my head down this month and sort as much as possible. Dreading the cellar though.

I have also switched my current account. The last one I had to get when I had a DMP. I want to move on from those times so have a nice new one with some helpful online tools. As a visual learner this will be good to keep me on track.

Tomorrow WILL be my first SFD.
