Hugs The Only Girl and apple sponge and custard sounds awesome.

I had a slightly difficult day, both Council tax bills arrived, still get some 25% discount on one but struggling to see how I will be able to pay them (and first payment for water rates goes out on first April too). Walked to mum's, very slow, took ages and another upset on the way. An old song was pouring out of a building, probably an aerobics class and just started crying - I could remember going to a wedding evening do with my parents and dancing all night and the contrast with my present determined hobble was just too much.

Ended the day with a good film so back on a more even keel. Have spent £2.70 + £2.50 points but probably enough wholemeal basmati to not go to that SM for another year.

DS3 is bringing beloved back with him tomorrow for a few days so need to spring into action doing what I can in the kitchen, bathroom and his room as soon as he leaves in the morning. The bathmat looks disgusting but wouldn't change it earlier as he would have messed up the clean one before she got here.

Today I am grateful for smiles from a nearly 2yo, for mad puppy being quite well behaved (I can cope with enthusiasm but not her jumping on my knee) and that I am single.

  • Happy weekend everyone! Enjoying a very rare day off - have an all day first aid course tomorrow which I REALLY don't want to go to, but unfortunately as my previous one ran out I don't have a lot of choice, so am having today off from studying. Need to clean the flat but otherwise not doing anything productive - am also away next weekend so my last chance for a little while.

    Groceries till 15th April: £44.42/£72.99
    Fuel until 15th April: £29.15/£80
    Lunch to work: 4/17
    Lunchtime walks at work: 3/17
    NSDs: 1/10

Not doing very well for lunchtime walks or NSDs, but hoping to improve this next week. theonlygirl - sympathies for the loss of your friend, that's awful.

    Hiya Turtles,

So, my plan for today was to complete the last part of a secret mission, nod nod wink wink, mum's the word, and then potter at decluttering.

6 hours of rugby today, I thought it was an ideal day to have the TV on in the background and I could sort and bin stuff and organise etc.

Well, as you can probably imagine, that's not the way it is turning out. Secret mission achieved! yay me! Gentle pottering, not so much!

Instead of a cosy little evening with the OH, who is winging her way here as I type, I have been racing around the house like a blue arked fly!

We got a message from some friends last night, who had just found out that OH was coming, asking if they could join us. They are having a bad time at the moment so of course we said yes. I'm glad they are coming and that we can help them out a little by providing company and hopefully some laughs.

The issue is that the house was in a state. A state that OH is ok with, because, well, it is her house too and she knows that I am sorting and organising. A state that I do not want friends to see. So instead of decluttering and organising, the junk room is now full to the door with junk again, the spare room is presentable and fit for guests, should they decide to stay over, and the downstairs has been spruced, hoovered and tidied.

This has meant that I have managed to watch about twenty minutes total so far of the two games. I have food to prep and myself to prep, maybe if there is time, and loads of other stuff.

I'm not actually moaning though. I'm really looking forward to hosting a supper for my friends. They are the first real visitors to our house so I am feeling a little house proud and hostessy into the bargain. Proper little housewife secretly me!

Hi everyone, so sorry been missing again! Speaking of Art - I have to redo mine in august I think. Managed to get the first course free so may try that approach again. Hope yours goes well.

Traveller - irregular periods are horrible. You have my sympathies. Islington is lovely. Funny I was just reading about a very brave young woman who started her own deli in Islington at only 25. I was 33 and it certainly is the hardest thing I've done. Anyway I wonder if you know it? Said it's in an area of mainly indie shops??

Lilt - how funny you are from peckham. I'm not myself but settled in the area 13 years ago and never looked back. I doubt you'd recognise the area now if you don't come back often. Bell en den road ( where the TV show Desmonds was set) is now home to amazing little shops, butchers, cafes, independent book shops! And very expensive housing to boot. And edited to say I've had to write it like that as the MSE bot obviously things I'm trying to write bell end road :)

Sorry if I've missed anyone's news.

Hugs traveller, sounds like you've been battling this month

Today has been a very spendy day. Good points - spent less than £11 to make meals for next week :) Bad points - spent £25.50 in the N3xt sale (2 tops, 9 birthday cards and 2 lots of wrapping paper), £6 on food carp this evening for no good reason and £700+ on travel money for holiday next week!!! Luckily, it is all either for someone else (OH and sister) or has been saved in advance over the last few months. We are very lucky in that the rest of the holiday has been paid for, we just need to take spending money and take everyone out for dinner a couple of nights.

Had a very successful day cleaning and decluttering - kitchen and bathroom cleaned, floors hoovered and mopped, bed changed, washing done and decluttered all of our paperwork :)

    Hugs to all

    Hi everyone!

Feeling a bit flat at the moment. Not heard back about the job yet ( they said end of the month, but was secretly hoping I would hear sooner).

Have spent the last few nights having nightmares about our summer holiday due to recent terror attack. We aren't planning on going off resort so my head keeps telling me we will be fine, but I want a holiday to relax, not to stress me out even more!

I put all shopping, fuel etc every month onto credit card to earn cash back and then pay it off in full. The balance is currently double what i had budgeted. This is mainly down to interview expenses. I should get some of these back, but I haven't had anything yet from the first interview and they didn't even give me the form to complete after the second one. I don't really want to contact them about it until I know whether or not I have the job.

Snowed under with dissertation and assignment work but everytime I get the opportunity to do a bit more I just want to crash on the sofa as I feel so exhausted.

Finally, was supposed to be back on a healthy eating plan but it just goes to pot every time I try and I end up eating junk!

Sorry for the long post but just feel I need to actually get down what the issues are so I can start to tackle them.

Oh, and I almost forgot. The garage we had chargeback from haven't contested it and only have a couple of days left to do so, so I have taken the risk of paying it off the credit card now to wipe out what we paid for the new (to us) car. But, I don't even feel good about that!

Hugs Welsh Kitty and anyone else that needs one.
I have done lots of cleaning, mainly in DS3's room and the bathroom. Kitchen still needs work but exhaustion set in mid-afternoon so will leave that for another day.

Resolved to look after myself a little better. I am never going to be 17 again (a good thing in many ways) but thinking about what I can do right now to improve things so going to start the day with a little gentle stretching and remember to play music to lift my mood.

DS3 and gf arrived back around 7pm so borrowed his bus ticket and went to the old house to put the bin at the edge of the driveway, turned the boiler and cooker off to further reduce the electricity bill and collected all the junk mail (+ a couple for DS2). Went back to turn a light off, took six attempts to get the door to close and nearly froze waiting of a bus (was too tired to try to walk).

Spendy day as decided I deserved chocolate and saw ducks??? A pair, both very young waddling along the road behind little Arseda. There are ducks at one of the parks and quite a few on the canal but where these came from, I have no idea.

Today I am grateful for DS3 being out all day so I could get on with things, for ducks waddling purposefully and for lovely sunshine drying all my washing.

  • Hello Turtles,

I do hope you are enjoying the sunshine where you are. I am stuck indoors in a training so only get to see the Rays of the sun coming through the windows.

I claimed my 8th NSD yesterday. And LTW too. I had the leftover chicken tikka biryani from Friday and a quarter of a honey dew lemon. My husband and DS2 went to a friend's birthday party, DS1 went to work and had sleepover afterwards so free dinner for all of us. Hopefully we'll get free lunch during this training too.

Mothernerd and traveller hugs to you.

Congratulations Fmess, shyspender, and mothernerd for your triumphs with de-cluttering. I have yet to conquer that myself. Just taking baby steps at the moment.

Welsh kitty, best wishes on your job hunting. Something good will turn up before you know it and it will be the right job at the right time.

    Happy sunny afternoon everyone :)

Today has a productive SFD so far and I'm about to head off tutoring and earn some more pennies towards the debt :) (what crazy child wants tutoring on a Sunday!!!!) I've done my marking, enough planning to see me through until the end of tomorrow, been to the gym, walked the dogs, did a little tidying and cleaning, and now I'm having 20 minutes in the sun on a deck chair (wearing joggers and a hoodie as it's still nippy)

Hope you've all had productive days. Sorry you are stuck inside the only girl
