    Hello everyone,

Hope you are all doing OK.

Sorry to disappear - I have not had the best week, starting with a migrane that wiped me out for a couple of days, progressing with my car breaking down on the way to work and needing to be taken to the garage, and now I am full of cold and feeling throughly sorry for myself! I have lost track of everything, will need to catch up on my spends, but there hasn't been a lot (not sure about car yet, they are phoning later) and I've not been up to shopping much, so have definitely had some SFDs.

Just been reading through and catching up - sorry if I've missed things with people, but Lilt, just wanted to say fantastic news on the bonus, both from the money point of view and also people recognising what a fab job you do.

Tiptoes - Yay for nearly debt free! :jit is so inspiring to see the ampount you've paid off, makes me feel i can do it eventually too!

Bobarella - glad business has been picking up, it sounds very interesting with all the things you have going on.

Right. Need to go and do some work - have spend most of today trying to turn up the radiator as I'm freezing and shivery, and gazing blankly at the screen, need to get something done!

Hugs to everyone in pain or dealing with illness, hope we all feel better soon - including poor little jellytot, poor baby has really been through it lately, hope she is feeling better Lilt.

    Afternoon (ish) Turtles!

Some great ideas on how to spend the £500. I put it in as a mini-challenge/question just to try and give people that little glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, and to remember that this MSE lark doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. It is what you make of it, and I think as a group we do pretty well. We band together and have a giggle and offer support when it's needed, and sometimes the proverbial kick up the arris!

If I had a free £500 I would sort a trip to Italy, probably solo, although I would love to go with the OH. I was going to go two years ago, I think I even mentioned it on the NSK challenge. It didn't end up happening for various reasons, but I would still like to go.

I need to update my signature and sort out how many SFD's I've had. I've kind of lost count, but I know that YNAB has it all up to date.

Payday today/tomorrow, sometimes it goes into the bank today but thanks to YNAB I don't need the wages until April. If you get it sorted right, in general I mean, it's one of the bonus's of being paid four weekly.

Hopefully there will be another mini-challenge over the weekend. Got more de-cluttering to do, I'm determined to find more than a metre of carpet in each of the spare rooms. Also OH is coming for an un-scheduled visit, which is brilliant.

Is your cafe that breakfast cereal cafe? :rotfl:

Ha ha no! I believe it is owned by two bearded gents, & whilst I have a few stray mole hairs that need plucking to stay gorgeous, I have no beard :rotfl:
I feel really sorry for that poor lad now. His family sound a bit horrible...

Sorry to hear you havent been well Magic Cat, I have some how never had a migraine, but I feel so sorry for all of you who suffer they sound hideous.

Today is my 7th NSD this month.

Im trying to decide on my strategy for April. I had hoped to have a spare £1100 to put towards debt slaying. But I dont think I will now. However not all sad as I think we will still have at least an extra £200 to £300.
Can I ask advice please. I am not happy that our OD has gone up again due to various reasons like higher energy bills. Would you:
    a) Pay any additional funds off a credit card as higher monthly interest
    b) Sort out the OD because it isnt very nice seeing those red figures, & we shouldnt have a reason for it to creep up again.

Thanks very much for any input

    Bob

Bob assume your OD is less interest than your cc just pay your cc. Think it would be tempting to clear OD. Whatever saves you money however is the path to go down.

Magiccat poor you, migraines are the work of the devil. Hope you feeling better soon and your brum. Hugs.

Well taken tomorrow off work, just need a bit of space. Between work and off colour grandson this week, shattered. Wouldn't mind if my daughter said thanks once in a while for childcare.

Promised my dog a good long walk as poor thing just gets quick run around before school pick up.

Struggling with tight chest tonight pollution levels high. May try hot bath and find inhaler.

    Hi guys

Quick one as I ruined my SFD big time. *deposits self on naughty step* - lovely colleague is leaving tomorrow after 24 years loyal service. She has unfortunately been made redundant, and Siri has taken her job. :( technology is great but not for some... Anyways I went to get her a card and a bottle of gin. I ended up getting 2 cards, one from me, and one from our little gang at work as they wanted to sign my card... (which I am a bit  about but what can I say? 'Buy yer bliddy own!') - I couldn't get served for the gin :rotfl: - I am 29 next month!! So I had to quickly run up the shop for some chocolate :rotfl: - cheaper, less satisfying!

While I was there I saw a bargain frying pan in just the size I had been hankering after for... years now and thought of my bonus and threw caution to the wind and spent all of £10.25 on a tefal hotspot frying pan :o and I got some muffins for work too. Gonna be a hard day tomorrow.

Have caught Jellys bug. Not the conjunctivitis thank goodness, but the sore throat, headache and aches and pains. Glands are up, and combined with this awful smog I can barely breathe!

Booked myself £148 of treatment, between a dental hygienist and an osteopath, prior to my health plan renewing. All of it will be paid back to me within a day or two of me sending off the receipts. Bless my work healthcare! Hoping that a bit of general maintenance will help me to get back on track because I am mainlining painkillers recently.

    Am still on 11 SFD's.

MagicCat bless you. It is nice to be appreciated. Am feeling a bit smug the last couple of days :o lol

Bob they are genuinely a wonderful family. But young parents with no experience with kids, the dad plays computer games all of the time, and 'no one ever told the mum to talk to the baby about everything' - except me, who jabbers useless nonsense at my daughter until she now continually jabbers useless nonsense at everyone else :rotfl: - he has had some health issues and was very poorly at one time, and that put him a bit behind. I am sure he will catch up so quick now he is at nursery!! :D He's an adorable little fella. xx

Thanks for the well wishes. Jelly's eyes are clearing finally, her cough is worse but she's better overall and her tummy is finally mostly normal (for her) again!

Have a good night all xxx

Had a quiet relaxing but productive day, just gentle pottering about but getting things done. Then spoiled it by giving in to cravings for unhealthy snacks. Was very cross with myself but then decided that beating myself up might lead to further over-indulgence so just quietly resolved to start afresh tomorrow and do better.

Today I am grateful for sunshine, for libraries and for freezers (portions of sweet potato mash added to parsnips and roast lamb towards Easter food plus prawns and a big bag of forest fruits that have been saved from Christmas).

  • Hi Turtles,

Good evening! Finally, I get to put my feet up. Just finished a very busy late shift. I didn't manage to get a full break at work, so I had my unfinished sandwich as my late supper.

It was a mini spend day today as had to buy essentials like milk, bread and chicken ham for packed lunches for myself and the hungry hippos. Only spent £7.15, so really chuffed.

At the moment, I am still within target with NSD's (7/10), LTW or LTS everyday, except yesterday when my kids wanted to have school dinners for a change, using their left over money on ParentPay. The grocery/household budget stand £206/£620. Holiday fund, already allocated £150 but haven't decided when or where to go. I have started de-cluttering, applying the FlyLady's principles (and loving it). I have set aside some items to sell on eBay. Hopefully next week or this coming weekend, I can get them listed on eBay. Will get my boys' help to sort the DVD, CD and games collections and send to Music Magpie. I also need to contact RagBag to collect unwanted clothes, shoes and bags. Savings funds ready to be transferred to ordinary savings and our individual ISA's (mine, hubby's and kiddos')

Today I received an extra pay of £170 which willbe put towards paying off Halifax cc. I am also awaiting reimbursement for the expenses for the event last Saturday, that will also go towards the cc repayment. That would leave £1052.95 outstanding debt. I am predicting some left overs from our monthly budget and I am in two minds - whether to put all the left overs to a savings account (saved for the rainy days) or to get the repayment over first before putting into savings. We are due to renew our car insurances before April so have been searching for the best deals at the moment. There is also the issue of car repairs (£650 quoted by Nissan but will find a cheaper garage to give us their quotation). There is some money set aside for that so any savings if we can make by get them done somewhere else cheaper than £650 will be a bonus and will also be allocated to cc repayment. Such is life, eh. Anything just to get this cc off our backs.

I am feeling sad at the moment. A friend of mine died last week of colon cancer (she's only 41) leaving behind 2 very young children. Tomorrow is her funeral and tonight is the last overnight vigil but I couldn't go as my husband has just been called in to work tonight and I can't leave the kids on their own. losing a friend so young feels like being robbed.
