    Hey turtleys.

    Happy St Patrick's Day.
    :)

Spendy day today as we went food shopping. £20.46 spent but he have a nice collection of food to do us a while.
Including some nice yellow labelled chicken breasts.
    :o

Yesterday was a spend-free day which puts me up to nine out of fifteen.
    :j

Working for the next three days so might not be online to post but I imagine they will all be spend-free days. Am always too tired to post after a shift.
    :D

Managed to survive getting my blood taken, will find out the results tomorrow.
Not sure what I want the results to be if I am honest.
    :undecided

Ooooooooooh... £500 to do whatever I want with. As a guess, some form of travelling. Probably with the campervan, maybe around Scotland.
    :happyhear

Hope everyone is doing okay. I have been writing this post for a while and can't remember what all was discussed. Sorry.
    Hugs to you all.

Bob glad you had a good day. I tend to put heating on to dry clothes as it is still very damp outside.

£500 so interesting what everyone would spend it on. Hard to think along treat yourself lines.

I would turn into Shirley Valentine(for anyone who hasn't seen the film, solo holiday to Greece and run off with a waiter) or maybe just get my hair coloured and travel down to Cornwall just go exploring popping in and visiting relatives en route. Need nice outdoor clothing to look like Ellie off Countryfile. Look so scruffy out walking.

Lilt poor jelly. Hope you manage to boost her immune system somehow. How annoying nursery fees to pay for nothing.

Stewby hope your blood test results are ok.

Today ordered a pop up tent, for grandson. Seriously had enough of den building everyday after work. Today he wanted me to build a town! Will have to adjust sfd total tomorrow. Can be Easter pressie as he gets too many eggs.

  • Hi all, good evening/good morning!

Very, very late check in for me. Sorry I have been off the radar these past few days, as I have been so busy catching up with household chores after a very hectic week last week.

My event last Saturday was a success! Thanks for your well wishes. I went straight to night shift on the night of the event, then had a raging migraine all day on Sunday all throughout my night shift, and a bit yesterday. Had a nice catch up sleep Monday morning and started on the laundry, deep cleaning of my bathroom and the kitchen in the afternoon. I also wrote, for the first time in my life, a weekly planner which includes the week's menu, household chores and who's assigned to do them, now posted on our fridge door. The DH and young turtles have been cooperative so far. I can't believe we've managed to keep the kitchen clean and tidy for 2 consecutive days. And my sink is shiny! The fly ladies here will know what I am talking about. Go me!

Today, for the very first time, I tried applying the principles of the FLY lady and what a difference it made to my day. I managed to tick off a lot of my to do list. I managed to finish all the laundry, using free electricity c/o the solar panels, hang the washing outside to air dry, dishwashing done, ironing all done, clothes put away, I have started de cluttering the bathroom and my DS1's bedroom. And guess what I managed to squeeze in a 15 minute abs exercise session. Dusted, hoovered, empties bins, topped up compost bin, recycled. Did a bit of car insurance "window shopping."

It's NSD no. 7 for me. And still going strong with the LTW's.

A bit cross with my husband as I have just found out (via online banking) that he and the boys had a take away while I was at the event last Saturday, and have used up all our dining out budget..... WITHOUT ME!!!! I didn't ask for a celebratory meal for landing my permanent job and opted out of a Mother's Day meal so we could save the dining out til the end of the month and he just gave in to the kids just liked like that. I wasn't a happy bunny! And I let him know how I feel. I feel let down.

Going back to work tomorrow (my 2 days off flew by). I have 3 days of late shifts coming up so hoping for more productive mornings.

Will properly catch up soon. Cheerio.

  • Failed NSD yesterday as bought dinner, still feeling rubbish so wanted something quick. Need to get back into the habit of leaving purse at home I think! Spent the weekend filling the freezer specifically so I didn't have to cook in the week if I didn't want to, so need to remember that and resist the urge to visit the Tescos by work.

    Morning all,

Naughty spendy day yesterday as used up the food budget and then went for a curry with my sister. It was delicious though ;)

If I had £500 to spend on just me, I'd buy several pairs of new shoes as all mine hurt at the moment, treat myself to a new swimming costume/bikini and a spa day Fingers crossed I win the lottery this weekend!

    Have a great day!

  • If i had £500 i would go away for a few days! Not sure how far or long long I'd get for £500 mind! Actually if i left the rest of the family at home I'd get a lot further :rotfl:

No sfd for me yest, still on number 8.
    Ltw everyday though.

Dh got sent a £12 off a £60 shop in t3sc0 so ive used that, £48 for £60 worth of stuff, and i really have got loads ordered and desperately need to stock up the freezer. Did meal plan for the week and had one day of beans on toast on there because thats how little ive got here!! Should last me a few weeks, and only needing fresh things.
Still here..... but working on that!

Lilt, children can occasionally be mildly anaemic (often one of the symptoms is reduced appetite), leading to a weakened immune system, more illness, reduced appetite, continued anaemia, etc, etc. Might be worth considering some sort of iron supplement for Jelly ad well as the vitamins applemuncher suggested? When mine were small there was an orange flavoured "tonic" but can't for the life of me remember what it was called...

SFD yesterday for me but have already spent today on a wifi booster kit (kids moaning for ages about it repeatedly dropping off when playing xbox) and need to get birthday present for nephew and pay for haircut later - the booster was an unplanned spend, so am booking my spot on naughty step now!

At least cupboards and freezer still fairly full, just need cereal and other day to day items for rest of month. And love the £500 mini challenge Shyspender, think mine would be spent on either decorating my bedroom (not done since quick lick of paint over anagylpta when we moved in in 2006!) or perhaps landscaping our garden, though suspect it wouldn't stretch that far even with our small patch....

Hoping the sun stays about till I finish work. x

    Thanks Guys!

We'll be saving HARD once we are DF next month. so nothing will change really in terms of day to day. We will be on a 18 month plan to try and save a deposit to buy an actual home for us, instead of a lifetime of renting...

I will hopefully be joining back in the NSK challenges if that's ok next month, I think I will be in a better place mentally to do that and post daily without getting too down / anxious re the debt etc.

We have learnt so much paying off the debt, and most of the changes we have made to our lives we plan to keep in place - we have learnt to live and love not acquiring, consuming and disposing of 'stuff' or needing to be 'entertained' by things. We are better planners, more environmentally friendly and stronger as a couple (we don't row about money any more -phew!). Sorry if I sound like some MSE evangelist, but nearing the light at the end of the tunnel we have had some frank and honest discussions and agree we won't change much at all (apart from maybe I'll buy a new bra now and then and go back to drinking the odd cup of tea not hot water all the time!)

I'll keep cheering on the sidelines this month :j, and hope to be in on April's challenge..

thanks again for the support and kind comments
