  • Thank you all so much! I really love the community spirit in this forum. I don't think it has started to sink in yet, considering I was up at work all day and late last night, I was on late shift again tonight. Haven't really thought of a celebration yet. When I came in to work this afternoon, everybody gave a congratulatory hug and they wanted to know if we could have a night out to celebrate! If I could do it for free, why not?

It was a speedy day today. I had to send my hubby to @ldi and morries today as we have run out of lunchy things. My kids are devouring them so quick, the only logical explanation is how much they are enjoying their lunch and

LTW is going well, number 8 of 10, and it's only the 11th of the month!

WW weighing in tomorrow so can't wait to find out if i lost anything.

Still awaiting the refund from Paypal for the unauthorised transaction on my account. Hopefully I wot have to wait too long.

My OH took my car to N1ss@n for its yearly check up (free) but the bad news is, he came home with a hefty £620 estimate for the works that need doing. So so sad. Luckily I have allocated £1150 for contingency this month, so majority of that will go towards fixing the problem of my car. Part of me thinks we should just do what is immediately needed and do the rest next month. But I think it is very un-Health and Safety. What do you think?

Both my OH's and my car's insurance will need renewing or moving to a better deal. Also our home insurance too. Anybody had any experience with Kwik Fit driver's insurance? According to Money Supermarket, that's the best fit for our cars.

Tomorrow is another busy day at work and preparation for the big event I have been organising so I bid you all good night.

    Keep marching on!

It's lunch to work - as in you take your own rather than spending on it while in work.

  • I was chatting with my husband before he set off work this morning and something he said makes me think and feel grateful that he is slowly but surely getting switched on with this DFW, money saving journey.

We share parking in our workplace car park which means we can only park one at a time. If we are working on different shifts, one has to pay and one gets the free parking. Yesterday was one of those days, he was on 9-5 shift and I was on 12-8. He said he was tempted to park in the visitors space and pay £7 for the whole day but decided to drive to the residential area outside the workplace and walk for 10 minutes rather than pay the £7. It was like a mini light bulb moment for him and I am well pleased. I made sure I appreciated his efforts and encouraged him by saying he not only saved £7 he also burned some calories. I am one proud momma at the moment. :p

Now that we are more conscious and discriminative about our spending habits, we somehow wish we learned this ages ago. We would never have gone on to so much financial trouble. But as they say, onwards and upwards. It is never too late to change. They say a leopard never changes its spots. I beg to differ. In each and everyone of us lies a secret MSE waiting to be unleashed.

Have a nice day fellow turtles.

Hi littleskintdragon! I said the same thing to my husband. We know that the dealer charges a lot higher than independent garages. It is all about knowing the right person that can be trusted , isn't it? We have a friend who is a mechanic and he has done loads on our cars before but my husband is a little bit concerned because one or two of the faults mentioned by Nissan after the free check up is the same thing that our mechanic friend was supposed to have fixed last year. Were we paying a small amount for nothing, by getting him to fix things in our cars, or was the fault common and recurs even after being fixed? (Pardon my ignorance about cars.)

My husband also just realised we didn't get my car serviced last year so it needs a major servicing done this month, will cost about £249.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi guys.

Sorry am no use on the subject of cars. Might be worth googling Nissan common faults if you know what your particular ones are and seeing if they are recurring.

SFD again today. That is 8 and 3 in a row :) Still got lunch sat at work (homemade green neltil and veggie curry which colleague advises stinks out the kitchen to the point it is like sticking your head inside a samosa... :rotfl:) and got choice of homemade turkey and stuffing burgers or tandoori chicken for tea. Got to use a 1kg tub of green yoghurt by tomorrow so tandoori is looking likely.. and lots of it :rotfl:

Will be back later to confirm all of my figures. Got £2 back from Mr A's as a refund as my bread flour has a hole in the bag. Wondered what the white powder all over the kitchen was for an evening before it dawned on me and I checked it. Luckily only that 1 bag out of the 3 bags I bought!!

Have a good afternoon guys xx

Congrats on the job, The Only Girl :T

I know what you mean, Fmess. I've recently started distancing myself from someone who used to be my best friend for years and years, but now seems to be a completely different person. I guess it's just part of growing up- things change and you find yourself in new situations, and some people just can't understand or accept that.

Currently on LTW 7 and NSD 6.
