    Hi Turtles,

    Just a quick pop in.

I have been reading every day. Am currently ensconced at the OH's with cat number two cuddled up on my lap so I can't do anything.

Thrifty you have to make he best decisions for you and your family. I hope you will pop in occasionally to see how we are doing and keep us updated with how things are going.

Things have been sorted and settled and t's dotted and i's crossed with the OH. We are both feeling happier and have done a lot of talking. Work, well, well it is only work so I'm not going to let it bother me so much.

I am more than happy to take over the reigns of March and see us through to the end. Everyone has been doing really well so far.

Just had a tot up of my SFDs - only 4. Today won't be another one of them... Should be able to get another 3 out of this week though, which is halfway through the month, halfway to the goal. :)

Lilt - you have a clothes budget for jelly, but not for you. Go and have a chat with YNAB about that, please.

Aha! I have a clothes budget. It has just never been furnished with any credit :rotfl:
    Bobarella wrote: »
that is incredible Lilt. Between the two of us we are just able to stash 10% of our income. That goes between 2 pensions, child investment & our emergency fund. But if we can kill the debt that will rise to a massive (for us) 20% which is a massive difference.
At 33% you are doing incredibly well. I think Amy Dacyczyn the author of the complete Tightwad Gazette was only around that. The Frugal Woods apparently save 70% of their income. Yep I hate them ;):rotfl:
Most people I'd suspect save nothing. So high fives all round!!!

Thank you Bob. It doesn't sound like that much to me. I would like to think that if my income increased then I could just keep upping the saving, but at the minute something has got to give in order for me to feel a bit better about myself.

thriftylass - I have had similar thoughts in the past. I quit FB for a long time and discovered 4 extra hours a day. I rarely pay attention to it now although it is there if I want to catch up with friends I don't see in real life much due to miles between us. I hope you find a balance. Don't forget you need an outlet too. :) just don't be absorbed by it. :) Take care and thank you for the challenge.

shyspender thank you for offering to pick up the reins! Glad everything is sorted out!!

So budget looks a bit like this...

    SFD: 6/18
Money to Savings: £395/£395 (usual savings) £0/£93 (C Tax bill savings) £82/£82 (child benefit for Jelly - save for her) TOTAL: £540.00
    Groceries: £109.88/£130
    Household: £18.74/£10
    Toiletries: £3.89/£5
Summer holiday: None planned. Day trips possible but will come from usual budget.
    Lunch made myself: 10/31
    Treat after 26th: £4.60/£10
    :o:o:o

    Misc is overbudget still:
£35 towards jelly clothes, £20 for charity walk registration for June (unplanned) £5 tea towel replacements. £7 on cards. Still yet to buy present for mum Mothers Day or dads bday.

Had bad news today at work concerning a colleagues job. Puts more pressure on me, due to her redundancy giving me some of her workload and also due to the fact she was let go after 24 years because there wasn't enough work for her. Hers was a secretarial role and Siri has taken over where she once transcribed. Makes me feel like I have to continually prove my job role is worthwhile even though it is totally different to hers.

Also feel guilty for the 'glad it wasn't me' mentality.

SFD today - get to go and collect Jelly's clothes but paid for them on Sunday :) going to see what I can create for work lunches out of some green lentils :) first time cooking experience with them!

    Laters guys xx

    Hi everyone. :T

Thifty - been feeling a lot like you lately, I do waste lot of time on facebook just because I am so nosey. Decided last weekend to just cut time down on there and be more productive around house and garden. This site however has saved me and earned me so much money over the years I have been on here. Debt busting would never have gone so well without everyone's support and challenge so sticking with this site. I fully understand there is a life beyond the internet however. Hope to see you pop back in for a brew now and again.;)

Lilt go buy yourself some clothes, I desperately need pjs/ lounge about house clothes mine look so tatty ashamed to pop out to the bins in them.

The onlygirl - fingers and toes crossed for your interview x

Shyspender - thanks for quick takeover. :T

Today I wasted a SFD on a cushion!!!!!!!!! That is naughty step material really - not essential spending- just thought spring would brighten up my tired looking couch. Well at least I will be comfy on the naughty step.:o:D

Stewby I manage to spend about 120 on food and there is only me. My saving grace, grandson here most week, eats non stop and daughters call in for brews, snacks. Dog and bunny food included in that amount as well. I have to have fresh veg and fruit I think you are doing well on that amount for 2 people. :T

Looking forward to daughters birthday cake later oh diet hmm,

  • Afternoon,

Should be a sfd here, making 5 in total. Left my purse at home
    (Accidentally) which helps!!

Thrifty - hope youre ok. Do what's right for you and your family. It is really easy to get addicted to just having a nose, which turns into another lost half hour.

    Shyspender - thank u :)

Still doing ok and feeling really positive about this month which is great, not done any decluttering yet though.
Have used up 11 toiletries so far this month which is crazy and is kind of decluttering i suppose.

Have a good day every one, it's a lovely sunny one here and i'm in work :(
Still here..... but working on that!

Would anyone like any green lentils? I've made enough lentil and veggie curry to feed me for.. well, lets put it this way, the freezer at work will be groaning because it won't fit in mine!! But I way overdid the lentils, so now I need to figure out what to do with about... erm.. well.. the same weight again in my groaning curry. And they need using because I cooked them

Off to google. Meanwhile.. I wombled £2.55 in price guarantee's from mr A's last night. That will buy a loaf and some milk :D

Thanks Calling... I bought myself some lovely white jeans about 5 months ago. That was the last thing I bought for myself and they were in Mr S clearance, and 25% off sale was on. Cost me £6. And I've gone and tie-dyed them pink accidentally :( Blooming Jelly and her blooming shocking pink clothes... need to buy some dye!!

I can't keep up with this thread! Sorry to see you go Thrifty, but like others have said you need to get a balance that's right for you...

Sorry only have time for a quick check in, but amazeballs on the savings Lilt and Bob, hope your foot better soon SOA, go you! with with Uni complaint WelshKitty - hoping you have a good result, thanks for taking over reigns Shyspender, hope DD better soon applemuncher, and hope interview went well today Onlygirl! Apologies to anyone I've left out, hugs to all who need and cheers to all who don't!

I've blown my "other spends" already - eek! - but that's because two separate friends have got tickets for two different summer music festival for me, and while they didn't want money yet, I wanted to pay it so the bills don't come and bite me in the bum when I'm skint...

Still, food budget holding up (just) and am under on petrol with the hope of not needing to get any more til next month so can move some money from that pot if needed. Spend day today on (more!) lunchbox snacks - have now hidden one multipack of crisps and two of biscuits as the more we have, the quicker they eat them in this house... but no lunch spends to date, take what I need with me, and have clocked 5 SFD so far. Don't think I'll reach target of 20 but hope to get close this month.

    Catch you all later x

The turtle called Dottydaisy has lost all sense of direction and at the moment is floundering amongst the sand dunes, obviously not going the right way. I am reading on about page 12 still so don't know what everyone has accomplished yet. I have lost my budget as I had to find £215 for essential car repairs last week. I have 5 nsd so not doing too badly.I think I will turn around and find the sea and happily paddle my way through the rest of March whilst keeping an eye out for the jellyfish, octopuses and sharks that could make progress difficult and commit again for April I have a nice visit with friends in Essex in April, paid train ticket out of February fuel budget and have a pot for some spending money.
I have finally been referred to a rheumatology specialist but it could take over 3 months to get an appointment. Still I'm happy it has finally been set up, and something will hopefully be done about my pains.
I am grateful for the sunshine and warmth today, my little patch in my front garden where there are snowdrops, crocus and mini daffodils flowering around my stone bench, and my dog for making me laugh.

A SFD. Boys have generously shared their stinking cold with me but movement is improving . Target is to get to my appointment by myself tomorrow, otherwise will have to raid the £2 cow to get bus or taxi fare.

Rubbish has been collected and the bin is full. Chopped more bits of ivy and green bin is full. Food made from use ups. More donations to charity bin and to food bank box. Filled in form for Council to collect 5 items of bulky rubbish (I am not allowed onto the tip site without a car and I don't have one). Ds2 will be paying the £20 as it's mostly things he left. Hoping to phone the hospice furniture collectors tomorrow as I am freeing up some shelves and other large items - need them until now as everything had to be stored above waist height but can now move things into kitchen cupboards (and have donated lots of little items).

Mended a broken drawer so will start moving things across if I have any energy after tomorrow's appointment.

Today I am grateful for council collections, for primroses and primulas (display outside the library was just leaves last week, now it's all in flower) and for being able to walk (however slowly).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
