    Congratulations, The Only Girl!

Thriftylass, know what you mean about the procrastination demons of the interwebs. This wonderful invention of Tim Berners-Lee's should be a tool for us, not our master. I've been on this site since 2006, and haven't always needed to frequent frequently. Right now, I need the encouragement and likemindedness I find on here from people. Many of us have demanding children who don't understand money, and it's worse because they are 42 and we are married to them. Facebook, I need time off from a lot. :)

Congratulations The Only Girl!!! Fantastic news! When I interviewed for my current job, it was supposed to me a 45 minute interview. Nearly 2 hours later, after a lovely long natter with my now Boss, I left :rotfl: - the best interviews are the ones where you just be yourself and talk naturally. You obviously prepped well! Holiday/sickness pay are benefits no-one should be without. And job security in a place you love is also great!! :T

SFD #8 today. Aiming for 5 in a row, which would mean my next allowed spend day is Sunday and would have me at 11 SFD's by the 15th. More than do-able. Meals are already prepped and cooked for both lunches and evenings, and I have plenty of bread/milk and can bake more or substitute soya milk ;)

Having a bad day at work. Colleague is in having her redundancy meeting, and another colleague is in there to be her rep. She has been here for 24 years. It is very sad. My annual review was today but won't be until Friday now due to various.

Have a nice day all xx

    Hi everyone

Congrats to Only Girl well done.

Sorry I've been away from here, but I've been busy in the real world and just felt too tired to post, but I am up to 6 sfd and the grocery budget is still intact, I will post totals tomorrow.

I found out that a friend of mine gets more money as his state pension than I earn!!! And they wonder why people who work are struggling!!!! Makes me feel a bit low actually because he thinks I earn a lot more and always lets me pay for things whilst we are out its no wonder he can afford to go to Thailand and I have to go without a holiday.

    Sorry for the moan

    Congratulations The Only Girl.

I've had a spendy day. Not sure of the damage but have all the receipts so will work it out later. Not feeling great, had to get to my appointment at the infirmary. had to raid the £2 savings cow for cash.

Brain was mushy and went dizzy as well. Took a library book back then went to look at flowers. Paid to have some delivered to mum today (don't think I will be able to get there and can't complete hm card and gifts as runny nose and eyes), then went to pound shop for choc Brazils (alternative gift for mum if I am well enough by weekend). Bought a sandwich meal deal to help with dizziness and then caught a taxi to the hospital. Best I could do in the circumstances, ticked all the boxes in one go getting nearer to the hospital.

Did manage to walk home although it was raining and I was very slow. After resting I went back for more library books and may just stay in for a couple of days (indoors or in bed depending on how I feel tomorrow). Boys look brighter - they did not eat yesterday which has to be a first.

Mum phoned to thank me for the flowers but also to tell me off over spending money and choice of florist (can't win - if she had ended up with nothing she would have brought it up on every possible occasion for the next six months). She has agreed with one of my suggestions for her birthday in August and is going to go for a meal with two of her cousins. It's her 80th but I have instructions to countermand any parties especially 'surprise' ones. There will be other events but several small gatherings nothing too big.

Today I am grateful for libraries and books, for helpful and pleasant people (left my crutch once and dropped it later) and just being able to put one foot in front of the other - no idea how I made it back from the infirmary, just remember looking at my feet a lot.

Oh energy situation. That might also have caused the dizziness. Even though they have admitted the false reading was their fault and my bills 'bear no relation to my actual usage' have today received another bill totally ignoring the four recent readings and pretending I have used £200 worth of gas in the last month. They are trying to overcharge me for £250+ gas (difference between actual reading and their 'estimates'). Managed to do a quick calculation and checked opening hours for the MP's office. Tomorrow need to write another (hopefully brief) e-mail (they haven't mentioned the dual fuel discount which is now due), go to the library and print everything off, get DS3 to help me attach everything for the ombudsman and will go to the MP's office on Friday morning and will read up on the small claims procedure (learnt how to do it many years ago). Other account needs a quick e-mail requesting payment of the amount in credit (basically everything they have charged me for the last three months including the month they decided an empty house used £88 of gas by itself) and again dual fuel discount is due on that. So hoping for a less wooly head tomorrow (and maybe find the calculator although I am 1000 times more reliable than my suppliers figures).

May also be worth involving my new supplier as if their figures are accepted (allowing them to pocket their ill-gotten gains) it would defraud my new supplier of revenue until the actual figures catch up with their 'guesstimates', December or later by my reckoning.

    Hi everyone!

    The only girl congratulations!

Mothernerd please remember to take of yourself in between everything else you have going on.

Well I am definitely back in the swing of things now and have managed another SFD. Took breakfast and lunch to work and actually remembered to take food out of the freezer for this evening.

Have had this years water bill and my payments are coming down by around £15 per month, which is obviously great news. We don't have a meter and as I am not sure how long we will be in this house (it's rented) I don't really want to go through the hassle of getting one installed, so am thrilled at the bill coming down.

Today has been another indoors day with my poorly dd. She has stopped radiating heat, but is sneezy, snotty, coughy, pale, energy-less, off her food. But is currently asleep and we have a dr appt tomorrow.

Today I am grateful for the distraction powers of the tv, for the sumshine mostly drying the clothes, for dh doing to shopping, for getting a dr appt, for having a poorly child who does not moan or whinge unless in real discomfort - she's a trooper!

the other girl congratulations on the job!

I am back from the OH's and am shattered. The SD (stepdaughter?) and I decluttered the kitchen yesterday getting ready for their move. We took two car loads, eight or so black bags, loads of old electrical stuff and boxes of crockery to the tip. Then we had to sort all the junk at the tip into the correct recycling areas.

Came back with a beautiful desk for my little room/office/junk area. That was a planned return but it is still in the car. Will get it out tomorrow when I make some room for it in the little room. More decluttering for me tomorrow and Friday. In the last week or so I have emptied and sorted ten boxes and made four bags of rubbish.

Got BHF coming in a few weeks to collect some big bits of furniture that I no longer need.

Haven't got a clue where my budgets are. I'm not over but have been a bit spendy. Will tot up and speak with YNAB tomorrow.

    Evening all,

I haven't read today's posts yet so forgive me if I don't comment yet.

SFD number 8 here :) and LTW too :) Just done two tutoring sessions so paid some more off my debt, I am so desperate for it to go.

I've had a bit of an odd day with someone I know having completely different values to me and acting in a way I am very uncomfortable with, to the extent that I don't feel like I want them around me any more. Unfortunately, I cannot completely control that, but I will be distancing myself from them as much as possible from now on. Its really made me feel quite uneasy.

Hope you've all had a good night
