Hi Synonymous
Thanks for your reply. I completely believe that without a plan and a budget just because you earn 100k won't keep you safe. Anyone can get into debt. Conversely anyone can save. It just depends on how much.
I don't begrudge the MMM of this world or anyone else, even Martin. I don't think some people even realise that Martin is a multi millionaire these days." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Bob - I don't begrudge Martin either. Just look at what he has built. He has earned me thousands
Fmess... I'm not going to blame you for the fact that I spent £70 just now... on clothes for Jellytot after kondoing her entire selection of clothes. 1 bag to charity, 1 bag to the bin (not much really, a carrier bag full of badly stained stuff that was too small) and 3 overflowing drawers magically fitted into the top 2, leaving me with an entire drawer of space and a few gaps in her clothing that needed filling..
£70 got 3 pairs of pyjamas, a onesie, 2 fitted bed sheets, 9 tops, 6 vests, a pair of jeggings, 2 pairs of leggings, a pair of jeans, and 5 pairs of socks for her. Split between her nursery drawer and her good stuff drawerall fit for intended use. Actually saved me a fortune knowing just what it was I needed.
Anyways... that was £70 completely unbudgeted squids. And an otherwise totally spend free day rooneyed. Will have to rethink my savings total for the month. I've got £150 coming in for switching banks, and £50 in cashback waiting to pay out so I am more than fine and can still save over £600.
It has made me realise though that if I start kondoing my own drawers I am going to very quickly discover I own nothing of value, joy or in fact fit for purpose. So I predict an expensive shopping trip to cover that.. - next month... my birthdayI will get some cash and vouchers!
Right off to confess to the budget. xx

Sfd number 4 here
I'm reading MMM 2, I find it really interesting thinking about things in a different way. Im still reading 2011, so ive got a while to go!
Been walking for the past 4 days, also walked to mil's tonight for tea, the whole family walked there and back and it was lovely!Still here..... but working on that!0 -
So... I have folded but it was well worth it. Spendy day however, it was lovely.
My OH and I went to a seaside town for the day. Too cold for the beach but we did lots of walking, had lunch (OH paid!!) and then went for ice cream (very expensive ice-cream, sorry).
Total = £9.00 (as I gave them a tip too).
I do have a £40.00 treat pot so it came out of that. Now have £31.00 left to spend throughout the month.
Despite having lunch out and having an ice-cream, have managed to stick to the diet (far too much food at lunch meant just a cup of tea at supper).
Official weigh day showed a loss of 2lbs for the week. Hooray!!
Hope everyone is doing okay. I am reading but always seem to forget what I have read. Should really go back to the old way of having two pages open so I can flick between them.
Hugs to you all.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Hello everyone,
Hope you all had good weekends - lots of interesting chat to catch upwith!
I went to see my sister at the weekend - 17 train fare on Saturday but Sunday was a SFD and had a lovely time. Today needs to be a grocery top up, so some spending, but focusing on keeping it low.
I'm doing OK with SFDs, but really need to et back into daily mindfulness meditation, I feel so much better when i do it so why can't I manage it?!
Sazzlebgood - so sorry to hear about car, it's just rubbish when things like that happen. Glad you found a new one so quickly.
Bobarella - so glad to hear first day back of business went well -:j really hope it carrys on for you.
Speakingofart - hope your foot is feeling better - and that your essay got done!
All this talk of Kondoing is fascintatng - I do need to get on with the declutter part of this month's challenge, perhaps ths is the way i should go...

Hello again!
Wow you have all been busy this weekend working, decluttering, KonMarieing, doing fun stuff etc.
Speakingofart I hope your foot is better and you got youressay done.
Synonymous it is now my turn to sit on the naughty step, overspend, overdrank etc. Will explain below.
Caeraugirl, lol, I can totally relate to the "third child"
and Bobarella what a good start to the new business.
I will definitetly also have a look for this Mr MM guy, sounds interesting.
Now good bits first. Decluttered the kitchen a bit more and found baking ingredients from 2002. Also put a baby food mixer and a shredder to the recycling and the some items into the attic. Had a lovely walk with the kids Sat and Sun, DS was at a birthday party from one of his mates from the old nursery. Plus DS ate his first lasagne (he doesn't like pasta, which bugs me as that would leave so many easy dinner option) as we just refused to tell him what it was and because his sister ate it he did too. Result.
DS and I planted the first potatoes. Think as DD is only 1 I won't get much exciting gardening done this year. So I keep it simple, potatoes and a few tomatoes, chillies etc in pots.
The ebayer finally paid so I'll post that today.
Now the fessing up and not so good bits. Hello, naughty step. I reached the limit of my grocery budget . Went to the butcher again, didn't I learn the other day, and bought a steak pie (should've made myself) and more steak mince. Also did the weekly shop in LIDL (good, cheap) but then also two top up shops in Tesco involving booze, HH items and wrapping paper and cards. Thought I won't be that bad till I added my receipts to my spreadsheet this morning. Arggghhh......
But taking my own advice I'll make the best of it. Stretch the food, already make one large lasagne that did the 4 of us and then me and OH for lunch. Plus got a big batch of bolognese from it in the freezer that I'll stretch further with veg.
ALSO my personal mini challenge will be a body spring clean. Don't worry I do wash regularly I mean more like detox. On the weekend I had a few scoops to many again and then a hair of the dog on Saturday and a bottle of wine with dinner on Sunday and relapsed and had a few rollies too. This stops now. I did a 6 week abstinence after the new year and felt so much better for it, plus we just can't afford this. The trip to Germany is coming up as well as the kids', OH's and FIL's birthday.
So I vow not to drink, eat sweets or other carp till we go away at least (better set a smaller realistic goal at first).
Exercise won't be easy but I try to go swimming again twice or three times a week. Don't think I'll be cycling to work any time soon as OH won't let me take DS on my bike with a child seat. Long story but I think he is over anxious. Anyway...
Sorry for the epic post, have a good dayDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
weekly shop done and managed to keep in budget. Filled car up and used 10p voucher.:j However did buy some clothes in the sales and when i got to the till they'd been reduced again so clothes budget still intact for the month. A pair of velcro slippers for DD2, tend to get them when i see them as she can't keep normal slippers on due to her disability also got her some thinsulate gloves as she feels the cold ready for later in the year. A jumper for DD1 and a shirt for me. Seem to be lacking in clothes since i decluttered my wardrobe several weeks ago. (was just carp)
Told the kids road trip was off and why and they was surprisingly ok with it. Just me sulking then:rotfl:budgets = food gone:eek:/ petrol almost gone:eek:/nsd:mad:/ Treats: where the money gone? far far away:mad:/exercise not happening/declutter: only my purse:(
time for me :fat chance0 -
I just reshuffled my debt payment/savings plan as I need more smaller short term targets. Before I spread my payments into each so that the debt is paid off by christmas and the savings have a certain level by then too. But I need more short term targets to help me motivated.
So my pots look like this atm.
Wedding debt one [STRIKE]1000[/STRIKE] Done as of today :j
Wedding debt two 0.001/1500 DFD Sept 2015
Christmas and MOT saving 100/500 target May 2015
Last big holiday before DS starts school and first since having kids pot 202/1500 target Dec 2015
Emergency fund 50/1500 target Dec 2015 although we will be spending out of that on the garden maybe
The holiday pot and the emergency pot might even be bigger if DD gets a place in DS nursery and we can save an extra £3-400 a month from Sept. But it might be next year till she gets a place.
Basically I will use a kind of snowball method, pay one off and then add that payment to another pot.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Sounds like a bargain to me and a very well thought through clothes shop (if unbudgeted) spend especially since you can still save that much.
Started reading Mr MM but can't really relate to his numbers. Saving 5k a month? Need to look into exchange rate and average income over there otherwise it seems not very comparable.
Had another look. Actually sound advice no matter what your income, only it's not applicable to us. I and I guess most of us turtles here) don't go to Starbucks anymore, we don't eat out, we travel as cheaply as possible etc etc. I might revisit though when the kids aren't costing us a third of our joint income in nursry fees anymore, lol to keep my new found wealth in check :P.
