Hi everyone!
Hoping for a productive day today. DSs rugby was called off as expected due to rain. So this morning have cooked a Welsh breakfast for everyone, sorted paperwork for new bank account (for switching bonus), sorted paperwork for Santander (who haven't updated my address 6 months after moving but have done DHs), done some interview prep, sorted some washing, completed 1st draft of an assignment, and checked my budget planner.
This afternoon I plan to start a draft for another assignment, more interview prep, more washing, and cook a roast dinner. Not planning on going out (apart from maybe a walk later if the rain holds off) so today will be MY FIRST SFD OF THE MONTH!!!!!! Oh, and I will also prep some lunches for the week.
Hope you are all having a good weekend!0 -
Fmess where are you? You have got a lot to answer for. My house is covered in clothes and I am busy folding and thanking everything!! :rotfl:

Isn't it addictive!!! Sorry for getting you startedI have been opening my drawers just to look at how organised they are! Today I am hungover, not in a massive way, but as I only drink about 10 times a year, it hits me hard and I went to bed at 2am, instead of 10pm so I am tired. I have not done any more kondoing, but aim to do two drawers after walking the dogs (I had to do school work first in case I fatigued).

Oh noes! I got persuaded to a meal out on Friday and spent the £40 I wanted to save!
Have no fear, I will just work harder...
Some good fortune occurred in that I got given a load of snacks by work that they were chucking out and meat that a relative couldn't fit in her freezer and was just going to chuck, so that's probably going to save a lot on the grocery bills (as well as make me fat as this peanut brittle is delicious mmm mmm!) :drool:Keep reading books!

The Only Girl if you go on the MMM blog there is an 'MMM Classics' section at the top which has some of the most popular/hard-hitting entries if you want to read a little bit now
The Debt Emergency article is very hard-hitting, especially compared to the non-judging environment here on MSE, but some people really respond to that.
Bob, I think the blog is certainly directed at middle-class America who have good incomes but still complain they don't have enough money or stuff. Having said that, he's done a lot of case studies helping minimum wagers, people with several kids, one-income families, that kind of thing so it can be done. It would just take a bit longer.
Lilt - I am reading up on investing now - got a table here showing that every pound you invest today (assuming a conservative return of 3% after inflation) over doubles in 30 years. Compounding is amazing isn't it! Something to think about too, but if you passive invest in an S&S ISA, the fees can be less than 0.5%. But I've also read it's not worth it for short-term goals around 3-5 years so depends on you aims.
I've spent the day in my PJs reading this investing book, and I'm finally at the nitty-gritty of how to build a portfolio. It feels like a day well spent compared to the miserable weather outside! No sign of the PJs coming off so probably an SFD here. I was going to go for a supermarket shop, but did a kitchen inventory and realised I can probably go another week without anything other than milk, and I'm already hogging too much freezer space, so will just get milk on a spendy day.NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

Evening all,
Lilt - how has it gone?
Speakingofart - sorry to hear about your foot, hope it is improving today
SFD number 6 today
Have had a productive afternoon, after a slow and sleepy start. All school work that can be done, has been done. Washing done, kitchen cleaned, dogs walked, garden cleaned, kondoed the final clothes drawer, and ate the frog which was the checking the utilities company had calculated the bill right. Now time for feet up and to catch up on Crufts on tv
Hope you've all had a good dayLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Quiet SFD. Much resting (in between manic ivy tree chopping which necessitates more resting). Green bin is full and possibly have just felled enough branches to fill it again after it is emptied in another week and a half
. Ah well it all helps. had scratches on the back of my hands last night, now they are up to my elbows. Taken out the odd branch of pyracantha as I got fed up of sharp spikes near my face (and in my hair).
If I can't move tomorrow will start on re-tidying the embroidery threads. I have a plan (well half a plan) to tidy away all the material/ threads/ patterns/ ordinary sewing stuff and the stationery (all whittled down) and eventually get it all to fit on a small set of wide shelves. Have previously taken up most of two large sets of cube shelves. Downsizing to a garden shed is possible. Half a plan because I know what my ultimate aim is, but not sure how far I can go atm.
Today I am grateful for secateurs and the little folding tree saw (big tree saw is ace but haven't got enough clear space to use it yet) for giving (started a gratitude diary and today's entry is based on a book I am reading, jotting things down as I go along) and lemon muffins (defrosted some of the 2 and a 1/2p ones for a treat). :jMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
