I think it would be easier to answer what haven't I done!

It started last night with a take away - which was DHs fault, but I should have put my foot down and said no! Well, no treat after the 26th then :p

Decided this morning I need something to wear for interview. Couldn't find anything in usual shops, but bought 2 new casual tops. I'm sure they were needed and you will get loads of wear out of them, but still :naughty:

Whilst waiting for final clothes shop to open went to Costa, not just for coffee, but cakes too! Oh NOOOOOO

Found a top for interview - £23!!!! Also got a pair of shoes for holiday (not til June). Well the shoes were a bit early but a planned spend anyway. A top for 23 is quite a lot, I remember the time when I wouldn't bat an eyelid and even spend more on one top. But at least you found sth that will make you look confident and comfortable for the interview and I'm sure it can be worn on many other occasions too.

Also spent about £80 on groceries which is waaaay over budget (try and make it last, are there big packs that can be split and frozen?) and on top of that have order £20 worth of meat from local farm At least that should do you a while and provide quality meat and I'm sure can be stretched too to last longer.

So, that's pretty much my months budget blown in one morning!!! Guess we will be living out of the cupboards for the rest of the month!!

EDIT: just added up my receipts and have spent nearly £165 within the space of 3 hours!!

Some serious loss of self control here ;). No don't worry only joking. That is a lot of money but as commented on above not all was bad and some were needed anyway. Don't dwell on it, try and make the best out of what you got now. Try and stretch the groceries and enjoy the new clothes and Good luck with the interview.

Welshkitty sounds like a good blowout.
Good news if you haven't seen on facebook -free to get into Caernarfon castle all month well up to 27th March. All the best with the interview, sure power dressing will get it in the bag for you.

Thifty - Award for supercool, I have a sick phobia ( how I ever managed my own kids I will never know) Glad yourfriend is better.

    CEW
congratulations on house sale and lovely thoughtful gifts.

Well spend half afternoon off in cobweb filled garage, being circled by my rabbit(attention seeking bunny) and my nutty dog bringing me every ball she could find. Result cleared lots of stuff, cobwebs gone, tip run later, found paint I needed and rabbit nail clippers, bunny claws cut.

Today spendy day bits of shopping needed, plus lovely friend bought gig tickets on my behalf. Have to laugh she texts me to ask if I fancied going to a gig and I immediately text back YES she has already bought the tickets and third row from the stage. Nice to see nutty music fan like me.

Happy its the weekend and nothing planned, happy to curl up on my couch later and watch Stella with just the one glass of wine:rotfl:

:beer:Have a great weekend turtles

    Hello everyone

I've had a bit of a wobble with this challenge for the last couple of days as I have nothing left in the bank account apart from some to cover DD's. Then I realised I was being stupid as I have paid everything and got the months shopping with a small amount to spare. Also as the weather is getting better I haven't been having the heating on at night so I'm not using it so quickly. Hopefully it will stay OK and I won't need to top up.

The decluttering is going really well and I have been in the dreaded cellar:eek:.

    Let's hope it carries on

So easy to get carried away, I want to see my debt go down but know I just can't this month or it will result in spending on my cc to survive for food/fuel.
Good news its getting warmer - spring is here, just wish wind would drop here today.

we're going to have to spend a major amount of money this wkend need to sit on the naughty step, but in my defence OH car has failed its MOT big style and is not worth fixing. We spent several hundred pounds on it last year to get it through its MOT. So it looks like it will have to go to the great scrap heap in the sky this week.Lucky enough the garage where we've took our cars for years has a replacement but we don't have enoug to buy it out right. My wonderful mum has offered to buy it for our christmas and birthday present for the next 6 years lol:rotfl: or will lend it through the bank of mum and we pay her back over the next 2 years as we have some money we could put towards it. Money at the moment seems to be like sand flowing through my fingers. really fed up was hoping to clear our debt by the end of the year and that doesn't seem possible now. Off to declutter some chocolate even though i gave it up for lent.:p
thrifty really pleased your friend is making good progress. I found out this week my best friend who had to have further tests due to a abnormal smear blood results were fine. Which is a step in the right direction. Actually my worries about the above are insignficant in comparision to what some people are having to go through. So onwards and upwards and new debt approach needs looking at.
budgets = food gone:eek:/ petrol almost gone:eek:/nsd:mad:/ Treats: where the money gone? far far away:mad:/exercise not happening/declutter: only my purse:(
    time for me :fat chance

Given my head a good wobble and am going to attempt a new, more positive post:

    Hi everyone!

Thrifty great news about your friend and well done on managing the bus situation.

CEW Congrats on the house sale!

Calling I have actually just been talking about the castle with DH. That will make a great cheap day out! Well done on decluttering the garage.

Sazzle sorry to read about the car. Don't get too disheartened.

I had a spend day today. I have gone over budget but most of it can be justified! I spent £23 on a new top for my interview. I wouldn't usually spend this much but it looks really professional with the rest of my outfit and will hopefully boost my confidence on the day. Plus if I get the job I'm sure I will get lots of use out of it.

I also bought 2 more tops. One was reduced from £20 to £5 and the other from £15 to £5. I am wearing one now. It's a lovely cosy jumper that is keeping me so warm that I have only just put the heating on (it's usually on as soon as we walk through the door!). I bought some sandals for my holiday in June too. They were reduced from £24 to £5. I had budgeted holiday spend later in the year but thought that if I wait to buy them, I probably won't get them so cheap.

I did my monthly home bargains trip and stocked up on toilet roll, kitchen roll etc. I also spent about £10 there on toiletries as my skin and hair has been sooooo dry recently. I treated myself to some face masks and got a good conditioner and some facial moisturiser. I shouldn't need any more now for at least a month, hopefully longer.

I spent £15 in butchers and got a nice bundle of meat that should last a few weeks.

Unfortunately, I slipped up and spent £8 in Costa, but I was feeling so tired this morning that I needed the sugar and caffeine boost and I did feel a bit better afterwards.

Aldi grocery shop came to £50, which is more than usual, but this included lots of healthy extras as we are trying to improve our diet. It also included a gift pack of cream liquer which at the rate we drink should last a few months.

I had ordered some more meat from a local farm but he has informed me he can't deliver and I'm too busy to collect, so I won't be spending on that now.

As I am now well stocked up, the weekend should be spend free. I'm going to try and get some batch cooking done this evening and over the weekend so that I have some 'ready meals' in the freezer for days I am working/in uni.

Hope everyone else has had a good day!

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Checking in after a really good first day back in the business. Managed to take £100 in 5 hours just on coffee & cake. horray! Couldnt bank it though as the bank shuts at 3.30 on a Friday, how bad is that for an international bank.
It gives me so much hope that this might be a viable lifestyle option still, which after months of doubt & feeling bad about myself is a good place to be right now.

Thrifty - Oh dear sick on a bus...never had that delight thankfully. But have had it everywhere else.

Welshkitty -Dont beat yourself up hon, it happens to us all.

Sazzle - So sorry to hear it. We had to scrap a car we'd only bought in April, by August, having paid £1600 for it, we got a lowly £100 back for scrap value. It really sucks doesnt it. Poor you.

A SFD. Still can't move much. Toddled to the library twice with charity donations and returning/ checking out books (on spending less would you believe). Ds3's friend has just arrived and even though he has an all day ticket, still aching too much to get to the bus stop to go to other house.

More paperwork done and lots of sewing + freezer audit with new contents added.

Today I am grateful for stores that deliver, for libraries and for friends.

  • Hi all,

    Clocking in this week's achievements:

    3/10 NSD's
    5 LTW
    Groceries £92/£620
    Fuel £83/£350
    Lost 3 lbs = 6.5 lbs in 2 weeks
Got my refund from Sky £26.98
    Tackled a mountain of ironing

My youngest ninja saving turtle came home with an upside down cake from his cooking class at school and it was yummy yum yum! Hubby was lucky to have a tiny piece left when he got home. Was also pleased with my son's school report - he is one of the 2 top-notchers in his Science class. I wonder who he has taken after?

Has any of you had one of those days when you've got loads of stuff coming up, together with a to-do-list longer than your arms yet you feel unable to do any of them lists? I am having one of those days. I am organising (or supposed to be organising) a big event in church next week but I have done zilch about it. I also have a job interview coming up on Tuesday but I feel so indifferent about it, I feel sort of numb. I am neither anxious nor excited. Not a good sign, isn't it? I should be getting ready for it but I can't get myself to do it. I feel immobilised.

    Have a good weekend everyone!
