  • Lovely to come on the thread and read so much positivity - just what I need at the moment with uni and everything :) Lilt, hope Jelly is much better now, it's just miserable when they're that age isn't it!

SFD again yesterday, so quite excited about that - would be lovely if I just had to make a small supermarket run between now and monday, when I have my MOT. Once I know how much that'll be, it'll be much easier to plan the rest of the month and savings goals over the next few months when I have quite a lot planned. Right now, just need to make it through to monday and get this essay in.

    NSDs 2/15
    Budget to 13th March 0/£20
    Lunchtime exercise 3/22
    Lunch to work 3/22
Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

SFD - 2/10 - Low number as an experiment. I can go to the shops and just buy milk or butter or whatever it is I need but if I am concentrating on SFD's I try to anticipate future needs and seem to spend more so thought I would try a new tactic this month.

If that's works for you then go with that strategy. I think a lower number of SFDs works for people with self restrain, i.e. that really just buy milk. I need a high number of SFDs as I would buy other stuff :o

I am debating my tutoring options at the moment, I took on an extra tutee last week (so now up to 3) but have had another enquiry. Financially, I would love to have the extra money but as it requires preparation, its not just the 4 hours for tutoring, but the preparation time and the travelling time too. However, the exams are over in 3 months time. Should I do it?

Glad you're feeling brighter. I'd say go for it. It is more work but think about how it could even bring your debt free date from Jan 2016 into this year :T

Everybody is still doing great. I'm escpecially impressed again with all the decluttering efforts. DH was snowboarding yesterday and didn't come back till half 8. So after picking up both kids from different nurseries after work, feeding them, cleaning up DS accident in his pants, cooking dinner (lovely veg+met chilli), dealing with the dishes and the washing, I was done in. So no decluttering or tidying done yesterday. Tonight OH is playing football. Might just take a pizza and a garlic bread we had left over from last mont out of the freezer and have that for a quick dinner to free up time to tidy etc after the kids are in bed.

Ebay buyer still hasn't paid me for the thing he bought on Tuesday, maybe contact him again today. Got watchers again on loads of items (as before probably means zilch) and one bid.

    Hey everyone,

Hope you're all having a good Thursday.

Sorry to disappear for a couple of days - work has been crazy busy, so feels like there has been no time for anything. Monday and Tuesday were SFDs, which is good - yesterday wasn't, as we took FIL out for birthday meal.

Just been catching up with people - sounds like there is some amazing decluttering going on - mothernerd your totals are fab! Applemuncher and others - I am very interested in the konmarie sorting and decluttering you are doing, think I need to look it up and find out more. I have decided to brave the shed, which is packed with 'useful' things from all the work on the house (e.g. old bathroom cabinet, spare tiles...goodness knows what else!) I will try free cycle and see if anyone can give it a good home.

Lilt - hope poor little jelly is feeling better now.

Littleskintdragon - Well done for speaking to your friend, glad it was all OK. I also find it really difficult to speak about the debt situation to people who are in very different circumstances - I have a friend who is mortgage free because his parents gave him most of the money for his house, he can be really judgmental about people getting into debt (he doesn't know I am!), I think it can be really hard for people to understand unless they've been there.

Stewby - I think the booking was well worth losing a SFD, lovely plan to go and stay at your wedding venue for your parents to see it.

Hugs to Fmess, hope you're feeling better. Difficult choice about the tutoring - sounds a good opportunity, but not worth it if you end up exhausted, it's important to look after yourself as well.

TheOnly Girl - Glad lunches are going well - I always find when I make myself do them it's much nicer than buying things! I also try to follow flylady stuff, I find it can be really helpful. Progress not perfection!

Have a good day all. Marching forward - not long til the weekend, getting towards Spring!

Mothernerd - seems like the ivy is a major job. Know when I had a little bit on a garden wall was forever thinning it out to keep on top of it.

Everyone is doing wonderful on de-cluttering. Off this afternoon so will get to grips with my junk. Have school run to do, so means car seat in and out of car for tip run.

SFD today for me 3/18. Haven't a great deal of cash to last until next Thursday so making do. Sheperds pie for tea planned. Blackberry crumble highly likely. By the end of this month going to defrost fridge/freezer as it it so iced up must be costing more to run.

Daughters bday next week trying to persuade her to have afternoon tea with bubbly at mine, rather than go out somewhere. She is already going away for her bday.

Fmess do whats right for you with tutoring its not always about the money. Given up renting a room as found costs of extra poll tax, heating, extra cleaning and amount of washing lodger did wasn't worth it plus like my own space.

Have a good day folks, catch up properly later in a rush as ever x

    Hello all!

I'm so glad I managed to catch up with you...heffalumps aren't the fastest movers.

Just popping in to set my target of 12 NSD's for this month. I've had 2 already so I'm on the way, however I have a weekend away this weekend, a wedding reception next weekend and a trip to Hampden at the end of the month so keeping the target a bit lower for now.

Marmite, please forgive my tardiness and add me to the front page if you'd be so kind :o.

I'll catch up on the thread later on when I'm not so busy! :(

Hi everyone, it's all been a bit hectic around here, so apologies for the sparse postings! :o I do hope everyone is well and hugs all round regardless:) Well my mind over matter thing as far as not giving myself a nsd target has worked, I've spent zilch this month so far :j Although with ds birthday and mother's day coming up that will change but nothing spent so far at all! Nothing much to report, I seriously need to catch up though. Take care everyone :)
