Was going to be a spend free day but no bread in plus needed bday card.
Then was naughty, well to be honest got abs no make up left, have been using up scraps. Bought some items from the Body Shop which came to 30.00 then had a code for 10.00 off, 1.20 quidco. No excuse but last lot lasted for ages, jumping on the naughty step now.
Stewby see you on the naughty step, sounds worthwhile trip.
Little skint dragon - if she is a proper friend she will be understanding.
I made the mistake of telling someone who I thought was a close mate my debt situation who then blabbed it to a dog walking friend, who came and warned me away from her. You do find out who your real friends are.
Mothernerd - where is all this Ivy coming from, trying to picture your house, garden covered in creepers?
Well home time for me, promised grandson park play today, will rush home and walk dog first. At least sun is out.
Will declutter later, just ate chocolate and drank wine last night. Caeraugirl thanks for CEX will check it out.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Well, the naughty step is getting busy. Budge up, I need a space too. Didn't go swimming, AGAIN, and spend my 2 quid bus kill from the other day on vending machine treats. Tsk, tsk....
Made two crochet baskets for a friend in work and she came in today with two bottles of fancy cider as a thank you. Hope I can resist till FriDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Today won't be a SFD as had to give DS1 some spends for a school trip. Making the most of it as will pop to SM while DS2 at football later to get top up packed lunch bits and after school snacks - my two currently eating anything that isn't nailed down when they get in, have resorted to hiding various items but they keep finding them. They'll be stored in car boot next, as I'm sure someone on here mentioned as a hiding place once lol!
Hope Jelly back to normal soon Lilt, sounds like all your lovely extra sleeping time last month has been well and truly cancelled out though....
Fmess, sometimes that black cloud just won't seem to shift, hope you feel better soon.
And to all those on the naughty step, as some wise person also said on here (sorry, can't remember who), it's a marathon and not a sprint. Sometimes you need a little bit of sunshine to keep you going, or one of Mothernerd's rainbows. If getting some new makeup, some vending machine treats or booking a weekend away gives you something to brighten up the long slog of debtbusting, then it's worth it, surely? So off the step and use your "treats" to reinvigorate you on your debtbusting journey! Just as long as it's not the start of a massive spending spree you'll be fine.....
Littleskintdragon, I agree with others' comments. Your friend might just be unsure what to say and is taking time to choose her words? Sure if she's a true friend she'll understand.#21 Save £12k in 2025 £16977.35/£20000

My friend replied and was lovely and said she understood , she also quoted the price of a hol on the bottom of the text just in case :rotfl:
I've had a sfd today so far, was going to get bread, milk and squash on the way to work, but mil said she would get it as it'd give her a reason to go out and take my ds for a walk (shes on babysitting duty on wed!) not sure yet if she wants the money for them but ive got £3 in purse so that'll have to do her if she does!! She also invited us for tea, as she'll already have both children after dd finishes school, so i said yes, and will keep tonights dinner for tomorrow.
Think ill make some cupcakes when we get home as were out of sweets/chocolate and i'm having a poor week, roll on tuesday!!Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Hello fellow DFW and NST's
Sorry I have been quiet for a bit. A lot going on here in my household, but I realised I have to log on otherwise I would lose focus and fall of the wagon.
It's Day 3 of Lunch to work for myself and the 3 hungry hippos, and they love their lunches, hurray!!!!
We've done our big shop for the week, we spent £93 out of our Grocery/Household budget.
It would have been my first No Spend Day this month, had it not been for the Alarm Security Servicing and Maintenance today (£79.38) and the Boiler Maintenance and Servicing (£60).
Hubby and Hungry Hippo 3 off to Explore Learning and to pick up a free fish tank and 2 gold fish from hubby's colleagues.
Hungy Hippo 2 just came back from the gym to burn off some calories.
I had baby sitting and school run duties for my brother's kids. They have gone back home now. Had a lovely time with my nephew and nieces again.
Busy morning, tidying up the garden (finally laid to rest the remnants of last summers crops into the compost bin.) Replanted my tomato, aubergine and chilly seedlings, sowed broccoli, leeks, basil and some more tomatoes. Watered my orchids and Nina my banana plant. (She's nearly as tall as me.)
Done 2 batches of laundry, air dried in back garden and now refreshing in the dryer whilst there is still light (for much needed free electricity from the solar panels).
Lunch was last night's left over.
Tonight's dinner defrosted and ready to cook.
Hoovered and cleaned downstairs.
Got acquainted with Flylady which I have been hearing a lot about here on MSE.
Cleaned kitchen and kitchen floor.
Bank account reconciled and budget updated.
Next to do is ironing and putting away of clean clothes.
Tomorrow is Weight Watchers weighing day and time to find out if I had been good or bad. Wish me luck."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -

Hi everyone!
ANOTHER spend day for me today! Grrr!!! DD has worn thorugh her school shoes to the point where there are huge holes in the sole (feeling a little ashamed that I didn't spot it sooner!) so I had to buy a replacement pair. On the plus side, I found a lovely leather pair reduced to £10 and they should hopefully last until she outgrows them.
Had a busy day in my voluntary job and have managed to carry out most of the research required for my dissertation. Now comes the lovely tasks of transcribing hours worth of interviews!
DS announced that he needs to take party food to school on Friday. Was going to give in and nip to the shops tomorrow, but have raided the cupboards and will make crispie cakes.
Have emptied my wardrobe and can't find anything suitable to wear for my interview that actually fits. I had a quick look for a nice jacket today to go with a skirt I already have, but couldn't find anything so don't know what I am going to do. I don't want to spend much but need to look presentable.0 -

Hi thriftylass, the boiler and alarm maintenance are annual bills. A few years ago we made a mistake of missing the boiler maintenance for 2 consecutive years and when our old boiler packed in, the home emergency insurance wouldn't cover the replacement of a new boiler because of lack of maintenance and servicing. So while on DMP, and had serious lack of funds, we had to scrimp and save til we could afford a new boiler. We had no heater and hot water from February to November of that year. It was a difficult experience especially for the kids. Now, we consider it a small price to pay annual maintenance and service to ensure we can get the right cover when the need arises.
Thanks for that great news, it's SFD no.1 for me. I am a happy bunny.
While ironing, I watched Flylady on YouTube and I like her ideas. I have put Babysteps into practice in the kitchen and I am loving it. I can't wait to flyclean the rest of the house."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
2nd sfd for me today. Babysat dgd this am then came home and finished off the tea cosy I have been knitting, I'm gradually getting through my wips, as I don't want to start anything else until they are finished and I have a couple of kiddies jumpers that need doing.
At work tomorrow, lunch put up (hm soup) and I will be off to bed soon as its a very early start, and as I'm old and knackered I need all the sleep I can get!!!!!!
